If you are writing a really long post which takes a long time I suggest you "copy" your post before pressing the submit button - sometimes the system will log you out if you spend too much time writing your message and then when you click "submit" your message is lost. Avoid frustration - either complete your post reasonably quickly or copy it before posting so that if you are logged out you can simply paste your message back in. Ok?

In the forum purpose, you said this forum was primarily for supporters of Hillary Clinton. You said alternative viewpoints were acceptable but "best you share them elsewhere." That latter part is the key for me.
I realize this is your forum, Murray, but I had hoped this really would be a community for Hillary supporters only. I see today Obama supporters have infiltrated here, and I don't like it.
It's been nice coming here ever since you started the forum. There was too much traffic on Hillary's own site, and as far as I could tell, no other pro-Hillary forum existed. If I want discussion about Obama vs. Clinton, there are plenty of other sites for that -- and mainly, as you know, you won't find honest, thoughtful discussion, but attacks on Hillary.
I've had enough of the vicious Hillary-bashing and Hillary-supporter bashing. I want this forum to be a place for Hillary supporters only, a refuge where we can come when we need a respite from all the vitriol spewed against a truly good human being who has devoted her life to public service.
Please go away Obama supporters.

I couldn't agree more! I don't go to their sites and I don't see them adding any value here. Especially, when their posts aren't limited to the threads listed under the BO section. EZRider is particularly guilty of this. And what an interesting user name for a BO supporter: 'EZRider', that certainly sums up his candidate rather well. Someone taking an Easy Ride on the campaign trail, given an express pass by the media.
They are gone! And I have disinfected the place!
It's actually my fault. I dared to make some posts at Democratic Underground which is very pro-Obama forum - a scary place indeed! Obviously my posts attracted the wrong kind of attention and they all came peeping over here!
Also - would people prefer if this was a "user only access" forum? That is, a person would need to register before they could view any topics/threads. Or are you ok with just leaving it open?
PS - The forum has been loading very slowly the last couple of days. I just contacted Yahoo (host) and they explained they were only informed today that one of the SQL servers was malfunctioning. Everything should be back to normal speed by the end of today. It was driving me nuts!

This is how it will be!

Thanks, Murray!
I really appreciate all the time you've invested in this site. I've found it to be a really important resource for me. I mentioned this forum at the new Hillary Speaks For Me site, so hopefully we'll get some more members. :-)
Thanks again!
Excellent! Thanks:)

All of a sudden, I can't edit my posts. I don't know if it's something at my end or something with the forum. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Well I've changed back to a more conservative one now. It was fun being radical for a while!

Murray, I can't get a link to show automatically in my thread. Is it because I'm a Mac user? I tried everything I could, but it would not put it in blue as a hyperlink. Do you know what I need to do?
Thanks,
kitty

That's odd, yes. Mac shouldn't make any difference. Try copying/pasting the link into text box anway and just post as is. I will then take a look at it and see what's up!

With so much information out and about, do you think it would be a good idea to somehow highlight quick points for undecided voters? They get to the forum, then quickly are drawn into "are you undecided" then read top 5-10 items. I'm not exact sure how to do this. But, if I was undecided and arrived at a site with so much info all over the place, I might still be undecided when I leave.
Also, this might create a good url into this forum that we can post in newspapers, blogs, etc.

Along these same lines, it might be good to group the articles a bit - into categories or something. When I started my own personal notes, I've ended up with categories .. like "Rezko", "little experience", "Iraq War", "Nafta" etc...

Have set up a new thread for undecided voters.

The post below, which is in the MS section, might be good as a sticky post since it's applicable to all states.

Hi,
i just had someone look at the forum who's not a member. When he got to the home page, he couldn't figure out how to log in for a few minutes because that yellow text "(Click Image Below To Enter Forum) " is hard to read. Can you change the color?
Thanks.

It is a good blogging site with a great deal of information. I like the fact that it is an instant post and it is open. :)

It's a terrific, informative site. I love it.
Just one teensy change you've made I wish you hadn't---substituting Stop Obama for No Quarter. (I enjoy reading Larry Johnson's comments, and I find the S.O. site a little too emotional in conjunction with this one.) However, it's no biggie for me to open No Quarter from my browser.

Just changing things up periodically. NQ will re-appear at some point!

Murray,
As the Forum is growing, it is a challenge to keep up with all the threads, and I am having to reduce revisit to threads that I have already touched. The top 25 is already helping. Need some more help.
At the top level "Top 25 threads" I assume yellow box means there is something new that thread since I last visited it.
Could we find a way to either (1) split this list or (2) color code the unread threads differently to identify
- new threads [I have never visited.]
- responses to old threads [that I have visited before].
And, can we show even more.. say Top 50. Thanks
--------
Also, can we add another column. Top viewed items this week. (member viewed; guest viewed... Could be inside / members only item)

I like the Forum the way it is without the Obama people. I don't have time to waste with them. If I want to see their angry thug- like posts I can go to the official Obama site, du, or Youtube. Let's keep this site for people that mean business and I mean those that are serious about helping Hillary get elected!

1000 ;)
Unless of course you want a FREE PASS - I hear Obama can arrange those??!! :)

First and foremost, thanks for this forum! I stop by every day at least to read. You guys do a great job.
The other day I posted a piece that ran in my local paper. It was hugely anti-Palin, called for her to step down, said she was hurting women and also referenced Hillary. I posted it here because members have shown an interest in countering sexism or misogyny in the media, and also because this was in a Detroit paper, I could share it with people who may not read our news.
After some people expressed outrage at the article (and posted the author's email address, suggesting that they may have sent her a note), I was surprised to get a response that was critical of me for even posting the article. I explained that I did not agree with the article, I was basically posting it for informational purposes or discussion. I said that I thought members here might be interested to read it. That led to replies from other members who said that they had no interest in it whatsoever. Which is fine, there are occasionally topics which bore me to death (although it wouldn't occur to me to respond over my lack of interest, I'd be content to see the thread slip down the page. In fact, I have posted a thread before that fell off the main page with zero responses, now there was a dud! :) ).
Anyways, in today's paper the author has a new article. She talks about the volume of mail she received and says (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081002/COL10/810020420):
My efforts to convince Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to withdraw from the presidential race drew passionate dissents -- and a lot of hate mail -- from women in the movement.
Eighty-eight years after women finally got the right to vote, many women now rightly push for more at every opportunity. And to them, Sarah Palin represents an opportunity. I call it "Suffrage Plus." And it's real.
"We are sorely underrepresented in our government. Governor Sarah Palin may not be your choice but it is historic that a woman has been nominated as a Vice President in the republican party," one feminist wrote to me from Sherman Oaks, Calif. "To trash her is a terrible thing to do and a poor message to America's girls."
The letter-writer, of course, has a point. In a country where women still make less than men for doing the same jobs, where the current economic crisis was not created by greedy female CEOs taking advantage of an ill-regulated system, but good old boys connected to the current administration or current candidates, in a country where women are dismissed all the time as inferior or unworthy, I get it.
The author is still anti-Palin, but has softened her stance a little (although she still thinks Palin is somehow bad news for our daughters). Who knows who the letter-writer from Sherman Oaks is, but they could very well be a member of this forum. I decided to update my thread with the news that we, or someone like us, were heard.
But it seems the thread is gone. Unless I didn't search properly. Why? What makes a thread go away? I am not complaining, just curious. It will help me know what to bring and share in the future.
