View Full Version : Re-Organization of the Forum!
Where to post new topics?
I have re-ordered the arrangement of the forums in an effort to make it a bit clearer as to where (which sub-forum) to post new topics. As membership grows so too will the creation of new topics. It's best to be efficient and keep related discussions to the same thread rather than have multiple, fractured discussions about the very same issue.
Submission of Articles
Can I also ask that if you are going to post a link to an article, please check that the article hasn't already been submitted. Doing a "search" by the article name will tell you whether the article has already been submitted to this forum.

Hi Murray,
I'm big on organization, so I applaud your efforts in this regard!
Under "Where To Post New Topics," do you want to suggest that people do a search first before creating a new thread? For example, it seems we now have several threads asking if we'll vote for Obama or McCain should Hillary not win the nomination.
For people new to forums, click on "New Posts" whenever you come here to see which threads have posts you haven't read yet.
Also, Murray, what do you and others think about creating a couple of new subforums in the Hillary section: 1) "Why Hillary?" Already I can think of some threads that could be moved to such a section. It could be devoted to people telling their stories about why they're supporting Hillary and why they think Hillary is the best candidate. (The "Hillary Speaks For Me" site is terrific for people into video, but a section like this here would be good for those who prefer writing down their thoughts.) 2) How about a subforum devoted to general political issues relevant to Hillary's candidacy, e.g. the Republican crossover issue; problems with caucuses; etc.? I know there's already the "News and General Discussion" area, but it's really getting crowded with topics. Perhaps "news" should be separate from "general"? 3) Perhaps there could be a subforum devoted to "Volunteer Action," i.e. how to help in the upcoming primaries; how to write to superdelegates; what to do to help with Florida and Michigan; and so on. (Perhaps that sort of subforum would be more appropriate for the Members Only section you're proposing.)
I realize such a reorganization could involve a lot of thread moving, but I just thought I'd throw out some ideas.

Thansk Swiftfox - great ideas.
I will start a new "sticky" - where to post new topics. And yes, I highly recommend people do a search before starting a new thread to check if the topic is already in play!
Other sub-forums...it's going to have to happen...I will look into setting up additional categories incorporating your ideas. I think the "general discussion" category can serve as the "entry point" to give topics initial exposure and then topics/threads can be archived to the respective sub-forums. And of course people will still be able to post directly into the other sub-forums if they choose to but sometimes it's good to initially post a topic in the sub-forum that has the most traffic.
TO BE CONTINUED!

One reason for that - millions of people support HRC and want her to be president! Only reasonable that some of them will found our forum!

Not only is this the place for opinion, resources and interaction--the Forum will play a very large roll in the General Election.
There is a mountain of work to be done for the nomination, and then a truly huge organizing for the battle with Karl Rove and the Swift Boat 527 committees.
This Forum will be the launch pad for Victory.

Sounds good to me!! :)
Your positivity about the future is great!
We should all be thinking this way.

Maybe there could be a Subforum called "Blogs" Where people can have one thread just to post anything of issue they want to comment one?

A blogs subforum could be nice. Not to mention, if users will give their permission at the end, maybe we can share them on places like MySpace and Facebook.

I think this should be a closed forum so that the other side doesn't get a hold of any sensitive info.
Thanks for the feedback - factoring it all in!

Thanks for all the hard work, maybe Hillary will put a link to this forum on her main website?:D

We might be a bit too outspoken here for them to be able to support the forum officially! ;)
The media love affair with Obama certainly does not extend to this forum!

You're funny. Love your enthusiasm! Forums are very addictive indeed!
Moving a lot of threads to different, more specific, locations across the forum so don't be alarmed!!! :)

Hi all,
I noticed when your not logged in you don't see the entire forum. Do you think the extra forum areas would entice others to become involved, maybe after reading some of the anti-McCain threads that are now hidden.
We already have anti-Obama threads that work well.
It is a good idea not to put McCain with BO and HC together. When BO drops outs it will just be HC and McWar. And we will already be up on anti McWar threads when all the BO supporters go stray. We might win some of the McCain supporters too after we educate them on how poor of a candidate he is...
Hope this makes sense?
My 2 cents :D

What happened to the two lists at the top of the page with recent posts and I forget the other header--most popular? That made it so much easier to navigate the discussions. The smaller font and tighter spacing also enabled you to have many more threads visible. Please bring it back!!!!!!!!!

Bring those two columns back...I used it all the time. They saved us time with all the clicking.

Some people didn't like them...
And in a way they were a barrier to people viewing the other subforums in the forum.
What do others think?

I click on New Posts because it is a bit confusing. But I don't see anywhere where the organization is flawless, I really like the new post feature, because I can go to where the latest posts are.

If by two columns you mean the ones that are now at the bottom of the main page -- this, for me, is much much better. They were too distracting at the top of the main forum. With those large banners and then those long dual columns, it just scrunched the page down a lot -- and when constantly using the New Posts at the top of the page, it caused much more scrolling when those were topside.
I highly recommend folks use the New Posts at the top of the page -- it's much easier to keep track and read the posts.
Please, Murray, don't put them back on top -- please :)

I also use "new posts", but didn't see the stuff at the bottom. I prefer it above, but don't change it back only on my account. I'm flexible.

I would like some of these threads to always be on top? How do I do that? THe sexism blog, and the one where I asked for help with blog responses that were policy related. Heck if I can find those again.

leahchamblee,
you can always go to your profile and look at your own postings and pull it up that way... or your threads, if you started the thread.
You can also recall certain words you used and search by words in either title or body of threads.

The new posts thingy is down. I thought you had removed it. Didn't know until I read it here :D
Here is my request. Can we make it that all Obama threads are posted in the Obama subforum? There is too much Obama posts on the main thread. I find it depressing. I want more Hillary than Obama.

I pay attention to New Posts. That is the most important item for me because I get the latest information and links in all areas quickly, and can blog it to other sites or use it when making phone calls. I like the idea of a closed forum so that we don't have to worry about what information or strategies we share and the Obama supporters spying on us.
