A little while ago I was all excited about having ordered a camera I've had my eye on for a while. It's a Nikon D40 SLR digital and is a Consumer Reports best buy. So I looked around online and found a great deal on a two lens plus body package deal, with lenses that are 18-55 and 55-200. Not only was this package at a good price ($600), but it also came with an offer to get a Canon PIXMA photo printer at a net cost of nothing after rebates. So I whipped out my Visa card and placed the order. Afterwards I was given the option of completing a short survey, and once I did I also received 4 magazines of my choice FREE for 12 months. Yippee, I'm feeling pretty good...
Until a few minutes later when I receive an e-mail from Ritz Camera telling me to call this phone number to confirm my order. A little odd, but no problem, I thought, and I called. I gave the rep who took the call my order number and whatever else he needed. Great, I'm done...right? Wrong. He tells me that the ZIP code I've provided doesn't match what the bank has on file. Then we run around in circles for 10 minutes--I'm telling him that's the only ZIP code the bank COULD have on file for me, he's telling me they don't match, I'm telling him I'll scan a statement from the bank and e-mail it to him showing that ZIP code, he tells me the street address and credit card info match, but not the ZIP code, I start laughing saying this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard... (Of course *THE* most ridiculous thing I've ever heard is Obama wanting to be president.) He told me to call my bank and have them correct my file. I told him they can't CORRECT it if it isn't wrong to begin with. Okay, I give up.
So after we hung up I called the customer service number on the back of my BofA Visa card, and after running around in circles on their stupid phone menu system for 5 minutes, I FINALLY get told I'm being directed to a customer service rep. And then guess what happens? The recorded voice tells me they're closed and to call back during business hours...
Good night, folks!
