Parallels between Obamism and historical Fascism

For many, these parallels will seem preposterous at first, but I suggest reading the whole list, keeping in mind that Hitler was viewed very positively toward the beginning of his dictatorship, by much of the world.

The OBAMA LOGO is simple with strong lines and is highly symmetric, focused on the rising sun. It is similar to both the Nazi Swastika and the Japanese imperial flag pre-1945.

The LOGO appears a total of THIRTY-EIGHT places on Obama's home page. Clinton's logo, by contrast a friendly, traditional logo with waving American Flag, appears TWICE on her home page. Ubiquity of symbols was a staple of Nazism.

(My bet is that the logo will likely appear more prominently and even as a fashion statement if/as this crazy movement grows. This was of course also the case with the swastika -- people painted it on their toenails etc.)

The RALLIES don't need much mentioning. Women faint, just as they did at Hitler rallies (is it really because they want his health care reform?)

The rallies are filled with SPEECHES with arm-waving and railing against the status quo, just as those of the fascists were. Though it's not clear what the status quo is supposed to be for Obama, he says "the status quo will fight back with everything it's got." (If we go by Obama's published platform, are we then to believe that the status quo will fight that hard against, uh, helping poor people?)

THE FURROWED BROW PICTURE, with Obama looking upward with ambition, is the attention-getter at top-left on his home page. Not much needs to be said here! This was, of course, Hitler's trademark pose.

THE ANTI-WAR PLATFORM was of course central to Hitler's grab for power, and is central to Obama's campaign.

THE REPETITIVE CALL FOR NATIONAL UNITY without any details of what exactly is meant by this. This was Hitler all the way, and Obama fills his speeches with the same nonsense.

THE REPETITIVENESS AND SIMPLICITY OF THE MESSAGE.

THE OVERLOOKED SIGNS OF OVERT RACISM. The racism in Hitler's actions was overlooked for reasons different from those in Obama's case, but the result is the same. Not much needs to be said here except that anyone who visits Obama's church's web site and exchanges the words 'white' for 'black' and 'Nordic Lands' for 'Africa' ends up with a white-supremacist group par excellence.

THE BOOK which expresses a COMING-OF-AGE experience delivering a message that I'VE FIGURED IT ALL OUT in a paternalistic tone. The parallel here is of course between 'Mein Kampf' and 'Dreams from my Father.' Below are some passages from the latter, with the words 'Aryan' substituted for 'black', 'jewish' substituted for 'white', and 'Nordic Lands' substituted for 'Africa'. The passage could easily have come from Mein Kampf, were it not for the specific names of Black leaders mentioned:

"It was into my father’s image, the Aryan man, son of Nordic Lands, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

"The emotion between the races could never be pure,” “Even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or salvation, the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart."

"There was something about him that made me wary,” Obama writes. "A little too sure of himself, maybe. And Jewish"

THE NATION IN ECONOMIC PERIL WITH DAMAGED PRIDE. Of course Hitler gained power because Germany's pride had been hurt and because the economy was in the dump. Germans sought an easy solution to all their problems and wanted desperately to believe the voice of someone who said he was going to solve everything. Obama is playing Hitler's 1933 role in 2008 America.

THE QUASI-RELIGIOUS ELEMENTS are all over the place in both Obamism and Fascism. Rallies are like religious services, and people talk about "coming to Obama." Obama tells his followers "We are the ones we've been waiting for." Nazis were similar, and even had their own kind of wedding services.

Obama's web page has a religious look, with a map of the United States bursting forth rays of light (each bearing a glowing swasti... er... Obama logo). The backdrop of the web page is other-worldly swirls of patterns of white light.

Finally, we should remember that Hitler was Time Magazine's Man of the Year in the 30's -- and not for doing bad things.

(The only point I'm unsure of is the one about the book. I have not personally read his book, but got those quotations from someone on Facebook. I haven't read them in context, so the point needs more research. No matter what the context, though, it is strange that he would relate memories of this type. When someone is truly over racism they're not interested in observations like the ones in those passages.)

My mother grew up in Hitler Germany when she was little and she says she sees the parralells, my father grew up in russian occupied east germany, and he says he sees some of the same.
