I am so sick and tired of the media making Obama out to be the perfect hero and Hillary the outcast, as I know you all are.
My homepage for my internet browser is Yahoo! and everytime I've logged in this week, this kind of stuff is shoved in my face:
• Diplomats: Iran tests uranium gas in new centrifugesNuclear
• Clinton's advantage slips with whites, women2008 campaign
• Panel: Larry Craig acted improperly in men's room incident
• Rape used as weapon in Kenya’s ethnic clashesViolence
• News Corp., Yahoo! in talks to fend off MicrosoftLatest updates
• Some fans not buying Clemens' argument in steroids scandal
• Obama threatened to quit job when romancing Michelle
It's a constant "let's blow up Obama's ego even more and shove Hillary's face in the mud at the same time". Not once have I seen something nice said about Hillary, even when she was winning during Super Tuesday. This frustrates me so much, because I know that a huge portion of this country is so easily influenced by this kind of media brainwashing! I can't even watch the news while the primaries go on anymore because this same kind of crap is rehashed over and over (yes CNN I am talking to you!)
I'm sorry guys, I just had to vent. I'm new here by the way!
Pennylane - my experience precisely!! I changed my homepage to a meditation website as the CNN home page was tormenting me with its biases and distortions!!! On Tuesday night I refused to watch the TV as I knew they would be predicting the "end of Hillary Clinton". What rubbish. She's far from done with. If anyone can fight back, it's her. The media is 100% complicit in the rise of OMania because they don't want a woman in charge! And it provides a great story for them - strong favorite (Hillary) trounced by a new "star" (BO)! Please. Let's get back to REALITY!

I couldn't agree with you more :)
I just changed my homepage to my favorite band's website. That should put me in a good mood.

I noticed that last night too. Well, I knew the media was pushing Obama up and trying to knock Hillary down. But I have Yahoo as my home page and they had the same EXACT article listed on their main page twice...it was the same word for word, with the exception of the writer. Both were from AP though.

You know something nobody argues about? That the world has been dominated by male politics for centuries and look at the huge mess we are in with Pollution in/from China, (Lead, air quality),U.S trade deficits, pollution of drinking water by corporations, melting of the ice caps,Human Trafficking,Extinction of edible seafood by 2058, I mean I think a woman's touch is exactly what we need. Hillary is a mother and understands that the children of the next several generations deserve an inhabitable, peaceful world. Think about your future people. Students for Hillary 2008.

For the love of Pete! I don't understand, being the country that claims to be far advanced has yet to have a female leader. Britain has done it, Germany is doing it...heck African nations have had female leaders.
We have had some really great Presidents in the past...and we've had some MAJOR failures *cough*. I think Hillary WILL be one of the top 10 Greatest Presidents in the History of the United States of America!

I share your sentiments 100%. I am a male and the first to admit that it has been MEN in POWER that have led this world into near oblivion! War, carnage and bloodshed, all driven by men. Yeah, this election is indeed party about gender - it's time to give America the chance of REAL CHANGE - the kind that makes history and not the kind that makes for a good YouTube video. A woman in power would be such a monumental change. On the other hand, selecting an arrogant man who has no capacity to follow through on any of his false promises sounds awafully familiar doesn't it?. Ironically, the man (BO) who preaches that he is the "change" savior would actually bring to the presidency the same old male arrogance and toxic charisma that we have been subjected to for centuries! CHOOSE REAL CHANGE - CHOOSE HILLARY CLINTON!

Right on! I hear ya!
You can add to that list New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland and the Philippines - all of whom have had female prime ministers or presidents.
Hillary Clinton becoming president would be such a monumental event for American history. And that's not the reason I am behind her, but it's a nice touch nonetheless.

And how can we forget the late former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto? A woman leader in a male dominated Muslim nation.

Exactly. Such an inspiring political figure she was. And what courage to pursue leadership in a male-dominated society par excellence! Such a tragedy that they eventually ended her life.
Oh and we forget Aung San Suu Kyi, a political figure from Burma/Myanmar, who has been in/out of house arrest for years because she is viewed as such a threat to male power.

I just don't get it. And I constantly shake my head at it all. Of course you don't just elect them because they are female...but they are STRONG PEOPLE who are going to advance and protect your nation, strengthen it's people.

PRECISELY!!!
Some countries have already ready realized that. Hopefully the US can be the next on to "wake up" to the benefits of have a STRONG WOMAN in charge.
Take a look also at this thread which looks at sexism and the ways in which the media and the Obama campaign have conspired against Hillary with the use of sexist practices:

I have been thinking about this....now I once saw a clip with Diane Sawyer commenting on how the most hurtful moment of her life was being laughed at in a courtroom for asserting that journalism was truthful, unbiased and transparent....I thought I the time this was unfair, as Sawyer is brilliant - in many ways she still is.
HOWEVER - now we come onto the last couple of weeks and viola! We have seen first handedly how the media can be absolutely biased towards a candidate...everyone has reiterated my thoughts on the previous posts....
one thing I will say however....is that do journalists FORGET that they themselves of nationals of America - do they take any responsibility for their actions? Not likely...they are perhaps one of the dangerous institutions going.

I've always been aware that the media is run by PEOPLE and hence will be prone to bias and misrepresentation. But this reality has never struck me so much as in the last few weeks watching the election coverage. It has been so incredibly biased, unfair and misleading that I have stopped watching it. I have not watched mainstream TV news since Monday. It enrages me how biased they have been towards Obama giving him such a FREE RIDE - NO SCRUTINY! And then they go and on about "is this the end for Hillary?"...WHAT RUBBISH! As you note, it's scary how much power the media has and their shaping of people's perceptions - or their attempts to do so - is exceptionally irresponsible and dangerous. This video clip is brilliant - it discusses how the media is shaping the minds of the masses in relation to BO:

Murray that is a fantastic clip....just proves that the media are just relentless when it comes to really putting someone down....
if only, if ONLY, they did it on principle and policy then I would have respect for them....but clearly responsible journalism is waning thin...in some respects I believe the media should toally keep out of stuff like opinion and just report the facts. That way voters can make an unpersuaded, factual and autonomous decision....
That is a point...whatever happened to autonomy?? Why do people feel the need to go along with the majority - the majority in this instance is not safe....
There will be an Odrama majority no longer after this nomination period! Momentum has been scientifically proved to have short term consequences...what keeps the continuation is hard and fast policy, with idea's considered agenda's and real issues...not drama, plagerism and words....
I sometimes think Barack should be nominated for an Oscar! An accolade he well deserves! The media would HATE that!

Yes, complete and utter waster of money and lives. Meanwhile, back in the US, meanwhiles are without health care and millions live in poverty! John McCain woulnd indeed be "more of the same", especially in relation to Iraq.
Well this topic still well and truly applies! I still can't stand watching TV news - so biased. I will have to lower myself and watch CNN tonight for the debate...I have otherwsie been boycotting TV news for more than a week now.
