The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women's Event.

Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhan and Mrs. James Meeks.

Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.

Michelle Obama spoke at the Women's Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant --- his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.

For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on "whitey", and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that's when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who's seen this.

The "tape" is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity's site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.

This outburst happened just one month before the 2004 Democratic Convention, when Barack Obama delivered the keynote address.

I was searching everywhere... looking for these videos. It appears the Obama's clean up good...because there isnt even a cache or a dead link for any video. I do, however, remember downloading some sermons from the site way back in January. Which means that the videos could have very easily been on there.

I remember reading something on one of the blogs about three months ago- can't recall which one - that a number of citizens of An African village had died after BO and MO came to the village and did a promotion for AIDS testing and treatment. I think the medicines were provided through Bill's foundation. Can't recall the details, but the Obama's went to promote AIDs testing and were filmed as they had AIDS tests in that village. Many people in the village were prompted to get tested following their appearance. The problem was that once they tested positive, the people were shunned by others, lost jobs, became suicidal. I know there were several deaths by suicide, and I believe, several murders. It was a tragedy for the village. The article went on to say that there was not enough counseling and other services to help the people understand how to cope if the tested positive. and not enough research done on how others would treat those who were found to have the disease.

The entire thing was a fiasco. I wonder if this is the source of her anger toward Clinton - if she holds him responsible. If anyone recalls this article, please post it. I think it actually came from a Canadian web site. Will try to find it.

Actually, the Rainbow/PUSH conference that year was at the Chicago Sheraton and Towers, with an opening event at Operation PUSH headquarters.
There's no mention in any of the accounts I can find of any such panel.
PUSH and Jesse Jackson are big news in Chicago.
It's beyond unlikely that those alleged remarks by Mrs. Obama were not reported, either by the mainstream Chicago press or by the black-oriented Chicago Defender, or black talk radio giant WVON.
I think the two blogs cited simply join the ranks of those who have a considerable burden of proof to meet if they're going to sell this story.

I do believe that a very damning tape exists, otherwise the Obama campaign would not have released the statement about "what Michelle really said" (e.g., they said she said "Why'd he" not "Whitey"). Why bother to clarify something that doesn't exist?

I don't have any doubts that the tape is in the hands of the powers that be in the Hillary campaign. Probably loaded into their laptops and used to convince the SDs that they are screwing over the party by voting for this couple to take over the white house. Some of his supporters are so fixated by the Obama myth, that nothing will change their minds, no matter happens to be on the tape.
But fortunately this will at least give Clinton a justification for why she should take this all the way to the convention. For instance I'm sure there will be many of Obama's pledged delegates who now hearing about this tape would also like to switch sides, as well as the superdelegates who can switch at any time.

I have seen a crestfallen Hillary (after the NC and IN primaries, where even Bill and Chelsea were down), and I have seen a jubilant Hillary (after the WV primary). Hillary was feisty and resolute last night; she was not making nice with anybody or in any way conceding that she lost. And Hillary's decision not to make an immediate decision about her next steps pretty much confirms this; she may as well have said, "Obama, enjoy this while it lasts." MO may not have been this angry until she sat in the pew year after year and was indoctrinated. She may have had these leanings of being angry and the venom the church was teaching took deep roots as she heard it preached. I understand, Scott. :o I too need to blow off steam. I just don't want people to lose focus that we've all still got lots of work to do. The media needs to be reminded that Obama's 59 Michigan delegates aren't legal AND that supers aren't normally "forced" to declare until the convention, and they still can change their mind. Nobody should be declaring him or herself the nominee based on supers, only the delegates he or she won in the primaries and caucuses. Hillary has every right to take this to the convention, if nothing more to get a rules change so it never can happen again. Hillbuzz is backpeddling now. They talked about how they came to their conclusion about when the rant came about by doing a google search, but never confirmed how they know what is on the tape, and they said they haven't seen the tape. It's all based on rumor and speculation and google searches.

I just don't want to see everyone sitting around waiting for a gift that may not even exist, especially when so much work is yet to be done. We have legitimate, legal reasons to keep Hillary in the race to the convention and I think we should all focus on getting that message out. I think it makes her look more reasonable if we say THIS is why she's not making a decision. But, I'll get back to work and leave you all to the party if this is what you want. ;)

Until today, the rumors have been too vague to be debunked, but now . . . a specific conference for the remarks has been specified: the 2004 Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Annual Conference starting on June 26, 2004.

To get the information necessary to put this matter to bed, I drove over to the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition National Headquarters, which is in the opposite corner of my Hyde-Park/Kenwood neighborhood. I spoke with Robert (Bobby) Lewis, Director of Studio Services, who apparently handles the recordings of events. He said that the recording of events from 2005 and earlier was farmed out and most or all of the existing recordings (listed on the website) had not been conveyed in-house to the National Headquarters. He said that he did not know if the organization had a recording of the 2004 conference. In response to my more specific question, he said that the one-hour Saturday broadcasts on the 2004 Annual Conference (June 26, 2004, and July 2, 2004), which are listed on the website for purchase, are not available, since they come from the earlier outsourced period.

I was very surprised when he informed me that I was the first person to have contacted them about this matter. Given the furor on the internet, I suspect that many of you are skeptical about this claim, but he really seemed in the dark. He wanted to know the name of the website that had the story about the conference. And at first, he thought I was talking about an event where Barack, not Michelle, had appeared.

I believe the tape exists...I also believe it's not in the best interest of the republicans to reveal the tape until after August. The tape will have a lot more impact right before November. As for Larry Johnson, if you read the article carefully, he never said he was going to obtain and show the tape on his site.

If there is a tape out there and someone was able to acquire it, it would stand to reason that other people may be able to acquire it.

If the Republicans have the tape, it also would stand to reason, that they would hold onto it until after August. Especially, since so many Hillary supporters are moving to McCain. Why would they want to stop that?

Of course, the Republicans could do the right thing and release the tape. Anyone who cares about the Nation, should not take even the smallest chance (and there is always a chance as long as he is the nominee) that Obama will be President, not even the Republicans should take this chance. Obama is one scary "dude."

With that said, let us all support Hillary and try to find out anything we can on Obama and spread it to the media, blogs, etc.!
