This really sucks. No story yet, it's on CNN's "Breaking News" feeder
"Developing Story: Geraldine Ferraro is leaving the Hillary Clinton campaign in the wake of a controversy regarding her remarks about Barack Obama."

US politics is so weak...No-one can say anything without hysteria resulting!

I think that she got her message across. She was affective and now she can do more being unaffiliated.

Good point. She may be leaving the "campaign" but she won't back down from her statements, I am sure.

Breaking: Ferraro steps down
Posted: 05:05 PM ET

(CNN) – Geraldine Ferraro has stepped down from her role as a member of Hillary Clinton's finance committee.

In a letter to Clinton obtained by CNN's Suzanne Malveaux, Ferraro said she is stepping down so, "I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign."

Full letter:

Dear Hillary –

I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign.

The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you.

I won't let that happen.

Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do to make this a better world for my children and grandchildren.

You have my deep admiration and respect.

Gerry

Yes, but it is but yet another example of how divisive Obama really is. I really wish Hillary had stood by Ferraro on this one because what she said is true, whether people want to talk about that or not.

Great letter. It's actually to Hillary's benefit that GF "step aside". Now GF can continue to speak her mind.

This issue will bring women who are sitting on fence toward Hillary.
BHO is exposed, he is playing race gender card.
He will lose nomination.

It is a good letter, she leave swinging at Obama and more or less tells Obama she is still a voice that Obama will have to reckon with.

aye, you're right now, she'll probably work even harder for Hilliary now, if that's even possible. She's an amazing woman.

I gotta say I'm really ticked to see her step-down. I know she did it to stem the Obama vitriol towards Hilliary's campaign, but still irks me to no end to see her leave.

But like ya said, she'll not stop fundraising for our Grand Lady!

What a beautiful letter by Geraldine! It showed deep faith, love and conviction for Hillary and the cause of womens rights all over the world.

I hope the Sexist Mr. Obama is happy because we are going to come and take him out now. He is the anti-woman candidate from now on. This guy just keeps on making more and more enemies. Goodness. He will never be President but if he's not careful he'll lose his Senate re-election.

on our lst amendment rights.

Yeah, so much for the "unity" candidate. He's going to cross party lines to bring us all together? While he's dividing his own party?

But the comments at every political site/blog by Obama supporters are rude and nasty. Huffington Post got so bad I finally quit going there.

That's why it's SO nice to have this forum - with all these highly intelligent, well-informed and polite people! Really!!

what a touching way to step aside...imho, stepping aside for the good of Team Hillary...so Obama, etc., can`t hold anything she says against Hillary anymore...I love it!

in my eyes, she`s still a true leader for this campaign and what it stands for...hopefully, she`ll continue to speak the truth for us all and continue to keep Obama focused on her instead of the real issues.

i`ve noticed a chink in Obama`s armor...it appears to me that he is distracted very easily by what his opps., surrogates and otherwise, say on the campaign trail...note how he always has to respond to everyone right away...when ever they say something about him, etc...from Hillary`s, 'red phone', ad...to McCain`s comments...right down to actually going back-and-forth with Ferraro...inho, he`s so arrogant at this point that he thinks he`s gotta correct everyone else...hopefully, Ferraro will continue to keep him occupied!...imho, he`s bound to say something stupid sooner or later...as many arrogant men do when confronted with the truth...

Keep it going, Geraldine!...We`re all still behind you!...We got your back...and will continue to...YES WE WILL!!!:

How ridiculous!!! I can't believe this nonsense!!
I don't think Geraldine Ferraro said anythink wrong.
It was merely her thoughts and I think she was right on
the mark!
Well, since Obama has made such a petty issue out of this
and the media hounds are running with it, I think Ferraro
made the best move by leaving. This way she can continue to
say whatever she wishes and it can't be tied to the Hillary campaign.
But, this is really unfortunate and so very petty of the Obama campaign.
I hope this shows more people his petty, divisive ways.

On topic, but kinda off.

I have a co-worker, who I think is politically on both sides of the fence when he speaks. It was just so nice to hear this older gentleman that I work with say "Geraldine is right. She is absolutely right." It brought a smile to my face!

Anyway, I totally agree that, thought it is sad that she is no longer an official part of the campaign, it will help Hillary now that Geraldine is able to openly speak freely.

I think women of the country will view her opinions as a greater benefit on this nation over Oprah, because Geraldine has BEEN THERE!

I noticed that many of the established figures who appear on these cable shows as pundits are actually agreeing with Ferraro's main point. I hope this helps to unite women around Hillary.

I think the Obama camp knows that Ferarro's main argument is true. No woman with 2 years of senate experience would ever be leading the democratic nomination. They want to take attention away from the main point and distract people by emphasizing a racist tone.

COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC: Does anyone know whether Puerto Rico will be a primary or a caucus, also, is it winner take all? I've been wondering this all day, if it's winner take all than Hillary could gain a huge 55 delegates from this state!

Geraldine made a brillant move today. Stepping down but not away from the Obama camp. She is too savvy to let this inexperienced and ego driven person get the best of her--Obama has met his match. Now, let's just pray that some of the gutless members of the DNC have the backbone to stand up and make it known that Obama is the divider--both of gender and especially, race. :(

Also, we better have our pens and paper ready this evening--Keith Olbermann is going to comment on Hillary's campaign and we know he's on Obama worship squad:eek:

HILLARY IS THE ONLY PRESIDENT WORTHY TO BE ELECTED IN 08:):):)

Yes it may be terrible but then again it could be just what we need. Her letter is beautiful and speaks volumes to who she is. But now she can really say what she thinks. She has publicly stated she has stepped down so now there is no way Obama's camp can come back on Hillary for what she says. Now she has the freedom to speak her mind with such great wisdom and call the shots as she sees them. Now she can even stand stronger for Hillary. Both of these women are strong and determined. I greatly admire them.

She defended herself very well on the news tonight and made comments that Axelrod knows her very well and knows she is not a racist. She stated that this quip was taken from a private audience of 300 people. She said that the remark in which they are quoting was an answer to a question from the audience. She stated that she has done so many things for the civil rights movement and is hurt that anyone would imply she was a racist after all the hard work she has done. She also stated that she felt that she was owed an apology. She said she steps down so Hillary could deal with the real issues not this type of media.

That's one classy lady!

I dont want to see Ferraro leaving. But I think her leaving will make it easier for her to continue fighting and speaking her voice without impact on Hillary's campaign. She left but they cannot stop her from speaking her voice again.

I think it will be back fire as more white voters will turn to Hillary after Ferraro forced to resign.
