View Full Version : (Mar 13, 2008): "Fox Feature - Obama's Pastor Giving a Sermon on Race"

There was a thread earlier in the day about some very disturbing comments by Obama's pastor where he promotes Obama and denigrates Hillary. As disturbing as this may be to watch, folks should. The media has spent the last two days doing its best to destroy Geraldine Ferraro, an elder of the democratic party, yet only Fox News takes on what should be seen as more controversial than anything Ferraro said.
Here's the link ("") and click on "video" beside the caption "Obama's Pastor: Hillary Was Never Called a N*****" (Thanks Murray for the updated link to the video, Fox moved the video from its front page)

I agree that the video is disturbing. I also agree this needs to be in the mainstream media. If a preacher in a "white" church preached like this, the media would be all over it!! If a supporter of Hillary expressed such racial bias, the media would be all over it. This man states that Hillary never had to work as hard to "fit in". Yes she has!! Women still have to work twice as hard to be considered half as good. Everything Hillary has said or done in this campaign has been scrutinized and put under a microscope. And women are the ONLY "minority" group not protected by our constitution in regards to discrimination. I do not believe someone should be judged based on race or gender. I am very troubled that this primary has come down to this. But this video proves it has. This man is a racist!! If the church I attended had a preacher like this, I would leave it in a heartbeat!!

if he has went to this church for 20 years. people are not going to vote for him in nov..... hillary needs to hang in there. no white person, men or women is going to vote for him.. john mcCain will win hands down. we need to keep hillary in the race .............

I heard sound bytes of Baracks' Pastor multiple times on my local AM talk radio shows today. Barack has known this individual for about 20 years. He married the Obamas and has baptized his children. Baracks' book was named after one of this pastors' sermons. Geraldine sounds like a nun compared to this pastor's flammatory sermons. Extremely racist and hate mongering.
And we're the bad guys? It'll be interesting to see how Barack explains his way out of this one. I believe this will end his free ride. :)

At least one of the mainstream media reported this -- ABC News Brian Ross Investigation Team, along with Fox of course.

And Fox's:

Interesting read on all those comments! If you have time, read through them.
It'll be interesting to see if NBC or CNN pooh pooh this away tomorrow.

not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

Is Obama's Pastor a Liability? The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."
In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.
Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."
An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.
"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."
In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.
"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.

UPDATE: How is this for a kick in the pants. Obama's pastor, the one making those inflammatory statements, including saying "blacks should not sing 'God Bless America' but "God damn America." (http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4443788&page=1)(<<linked article) is officially a part of Obama's campaign per Dan Abrams show tonight. He sits on one of Obama's committees. And, get this, Obama's supporters are defending his presence, saying it is different because Obama's campaign has always been against divisiveness, whereas the Clinton campaign always had this current of using the race card.
What a crock! Hillary was castigated in the press for Ferraro's a statement - a statement Hillary did even not make and immediately distanced herself from - and the media's justification for that castigation was that Ferraro was officially a part of Hillary's campaign. Well, so to is Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor and Obama committee member.

The more I hear these sermons, the more it terrifies me. Obama MUST not step one foot in the White House. Our forefathers would roll over in their graves. "God Damn America", that's real patriotic! Now I understand why Obama does not put his hand over his heart during the Pledge Of Allegiance, with these "spiritual" words he's been listening to for the past twenty years!
Hillary would be a fool to team up with this guy.

This is exactly what I was trying to argue about yesterday on Huffington post (I don’t know why I do it to my self. Huffington is full of haters) but on the issue of Racism and Rev. Wright, Racism goes both ways and I couldn’t have come up with a bigger example of it today.
Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, “The Audacity of Hope.”
This needs to be addressed! I’m flipping the TV channels and I don’t see it anywhere… where is the media on this?
I need to point one more thing cause apparently Rev. Wright missed one of the most important part of OB’s live ... his single, poor mother is white!!!

"You can tell the quality of a man by the company he keeps"? Ick!
Creepy extremist America-hating views. It's the kind of bitterness and anger that is counterproductive. Not a good thing. Makes me wonder why they (members of the church and the pastor) even want to remain in this country.

No way Obama can disassociate himself from this so-called pastor.
Knowing him for 20 year?
And there is no way a lot of what he's said isn't also how Obama feels.
Otherwise, he would have left this church ages ago.
Obama tries to say that his pastor is like an old uncle who you disagree with sometimes.
Sometimes? I suppose that means he agrees with him a lot of the time.
Obama is definitely getting a pass on this.
People need to contact the media.
I have links in my signature to many places this video and text should be sent to and I will try to do a few tonight.
If others could also send to my lists and theirs, maybe we can get this out there.

This whole flap about Obama's pastor is being blamed on Hillary at TPM (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/183228.php)!
If Obama's the nominee, we will see no end of this kind of stuff. And there's probably some small benefit of getting a preview. But the simple fact is that we wouldn't be seeing this stuff now if it weren't for the fact that this is the kind of campaign Hillary Clinton's campaign has decided to wage -- often directly and at other times indirectly by not reining it in in her supporters when it crops up on its own. Wright is news today because Ferraro's been news yesterday. Are her comments racist? That's a loaded, too copious, word. And there've been cases where the Clinton team has gotten a bum rap on these matters. What I do know, however, is that Clinton's campaign and her surrogates have injected the subject of Obama's race into this campaign too many times now for it to be credible to believe that it is anything but a conscious strategy.
WTF....do they think the Clinton campaign made this stuff up? Who cares if the media is only running it in response to the Ferraro business? They should have been running this story in the first place!!
Unbelievable!!

And all I want is Healthcare. Im really getting tired of this all. She better win thats all I have to say. or we are doomed. If he wins we will never hear the end of this race crap.

The first time I heard about the Obama photo where he is dressed as a Muslim was on Rush Limbaugh on the car radio in the early part of February. But Hillary is blamed for it. Just like this clergyman is blaming Hillary for the names Obama was called, if he was ever truly called this. She is blamed for everything and this truly testifies to her strength and resilience. A woman is running for President of the United States and this calls for an instinctive public stoning in the deepest, most primal core of the people of this society, be they Black, White, man or woman. Hillary is the one woman strong enough to take this public stoning and still survive for us and for the betterment of who we are as an egalitarian society.

Well, there you have it. I just watched the CNN coverage of some of the "Wright stuff". Of course CNN can't show all the videos because this "minister" (and I use that word very loosely) and his invective are so inflammatory and obscene. Btw, the tapes of his sermons are for sale and are probably funding Obamas campaign. This guy makes Hagee look like a pussy cat.
Before the segment started, I called my husband into the room and said "watch honey. They'll say its no big deal and find a way to blame Hillary."
AND THEY DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another bogus purportedly unbiased panel decided that this absolutely racist, hate-inciting, anti-american, jew-hating fiend Wright (and practically BFF w/Obama) should not really become an "issue" for Obama "unless Hillary decides to make it one"!!!!!!!!!! And, btw, did she have something to do with the release of the tapes? HMMMM?? So typical of her campaign, don't you know. What with her behavior with Ferraro and all. This kind of thing is just so unseemly and the candidates should just stay on the issues.
Oh, they gave a little nod to this being something Obama should distance himself from, but really....the candidates should just move forward.
Somebody please pass ME the kool aid cuz the liberal/mainstream media has gone mad. This is political correctness taken to a dangerous degree!!!!!!
I am not ok with this guy or Obama.

As far as the media goes with their man love for Obama, I have figured that it has to be one of two things..
1. They are terrified of saying anything bad about a black guy in fear of losing ratings, people will boycott if anything is said negatively against a black man and they would much rather hate on Hillary(Defaming women but they figure, what the hell, so some women don't watch us, oh well) but if they start getting protests in front of their studio for saying anything negative about Obama they will consider it MUCH worse for their station..
or...
2. They know that if Hillary wins the nomination, she might have an actual chance of being McCain, the media wants McCain to win the white house, so they hope that Obama wins the democratic nomination so that they can bury Obama with all this info about him in the election and thus, McCain would win. I think we all know how the media is comprised of MANY republicans so this is a valid theory

I really think that the media wants Obama to succeed for the simple fact that if he's Presidency, one of two things will happen:
1) He'll surpass what's expected of him and give the media lots to report
or
2) He'll provide the media with so much ammo that they have stories during his whole presidency to keep ratings up.

The Media loves ratings..whenever there is a school shooting or something tragic that happens in the country they thrive on that..media loves tragedies, they always have..when I watch the media sometimes I wonder how do they contain their glee..they probably do a happy dance during commercial..seriously the media just wants Obama to win the nomination so that McCain can kick his ass in the election

Since most of those superdelegates are elected officials who want to be re-elected, I think this might impact their support... unless they happen to be running for re-election in a district where everybody is a militant black nationalist.

PLEASE MENTION THAT RACIST PASTOR DURING THE DEBATE PLEASE..I wanna see Obama poop bricks for once
You know what's probably gonna happen? He'll probably come out, tomorrow maybe, and utter a bunch of uhh's saying how he doesn't condone everything his pastor says. More hems-n-haws to try and deflect the obvious.
Even if anyone calls him on the floor to denounce and reject, what will that truthfully mean deep down inside this man. Obama has spent 20 years at that church. If he didn't agree with this man's teachings he could've up and left long ago, but no, he stayed with this hate-mongering racist pastor for decades. This was his mentor! He's said how this pastor inspired him for his book, 'The Audacity of Hope.' This same anti-white, anti-American, hate-filled preacher inspired him.
He's attended that church for 20 years, being married there, baptizing his children there, and allowing his children to be filled with all this hate-talk. My goodness, those children should not be subjected to such racism and hate. In my opinion, that's abusive.
So, even when Mr Obama gets called on the carpet to reject this and try to brush it off, it isn't going to wash. Deep-seated hatred of teachings such as this cannot be flipped aside with a few words.
I would guess that he'll have to ask this hate-monger to step down from Obama's African American Religious Leadership Committee (http://www.gwu.edu/~action/2008/obama/obama120407pr.html), but even that won't hide the deep beliefs one has admired and was inspired by for decades.
Barrack Obama needs to step-down, in my opinion.

Wow. i read the blog in the ABC news report. I must say. Thank you ABC news. The overwhelming majority of the posts are questioning Obama's judgment for still associating with this man. I don't see any way that Obama can explain this one. Someone who has gone to this church for 20 years and tithes to this church in amounts of 25,000. That tells me something about Obama. Very poor judgment. To top it off this man is Obama's spiritual advisor.
Now I know why Obama is so arrogant.

I was refraining from watching but elected to finally watch it. I want to say that it brought tears to my eyes. I'm proud to be a Christian, and I'm proud to have faith and be spiritual, but this video is just wrong! For Obama to be a member of this church for 20 years, give to it, and not denounce him altogether is VERY sad. It portrays a worse images upon Christians and religions than we already had.
This candidate must be stopped! It's not "God Damn America," it's BRING DOWN OBAMA!!!!

BO cannot explain his way out. He thinks he can ride in as knight in shiny armour to rescue us poor americans with his message of change/hop so he expect us to ignore his poor voting records, lack of experience, flip-flop stance on issues (eg. Nafta, war), and his fuzzy (yes, fuzzy) background.
As i have always been saying : this guy is all confusion to me. I cannot trust him to be president.
This "pastor" being associated with the word "Christian" is blasphemous. Without getting into the story of Christianity itself, Jesus Christ was not a hate monger. I take great offense to these improvised subversives twisting the message of Christ to their own sick hate agenda.
MSM won't make much of it? I'm not surprised. They are so far up their a$$es now in pseudo political correctness that they can't back down, hence the latte liberals wave their little styrofoam cups in their faces and scream "you're racist!" They created this monster and now it will only be a matter of time until the monster eats them up.

The video was truly disturbing. The whole nation needs to see this and make a new judgement about Obama. From reading the comments, its scary that some of these obama followers are still denying that there's even a slight possibility that something is up with obama. Hillary gotta make it to the general election, or else its gonna be a McCain for me.

Obama has tied with this church for 20 years. His wife, his children too. His children has been abused by learning all of hatred views toward society and white people...They are abusive parents. Being tied with this church actually make them worse than being a muslim....Obamanian story will be continued and more exicting..Every day, a new episode will be displayed...Voters start to see a REAL Obama soon....Amercican, please wake up before this guy turn America up side down...wake up before it is too late. Hillary is the best choice for our country.
How is this "pastor" any less of a surrogate of Barack Obama than Geraldine Ferraro was a surrogate of Hillary Clinton?
What I found absolutely disgusting about this "pastors" diatribe, is that he fails to understand or acknowledge the tremendous abuses that have been perpetrated on WOMEN over centuries - rape, violence, abuse, murder...Apparently these don't count and Hillary's had an easy life.
And yes, can you imagine the HYSTERIA if someone from Hillary's side was speaking with such venom and HATRED? Can you imagine?
Barack Obama needs to withdraw from this race. His presence is causing nothing but division and destruction. Sure it would be nice to have a person of color as the president, but not this one. He is a complete DISASTER. Oh, and his wife was only proud to be American when her narcissistic husband started to run for the presidency.

Obama must quit the race now for the good of the party. He chose tobe a member of a racist church for 20 years. He gave 25,000 dollars to this church last year. If Obama has the character he claims and is willing to play by the rules set for everyone else, then he would publicly denounce and reject this guy and separate himself from him. Problem for Obama is that this is not new talk, Obama has known about this all along. He can't separate from this because this is him. This is how he really thinks. You can almost hear it in his voice, his wife's as well.

Lordy, this has me riled up.
