I am submitting a letter to the editor to my local paper, part of the letter may not make since to you all because it concerns local elections but could you please read over it and give me feedback, what to add or take away etc. thanks.

Dear Editor,
I was happy to see the candidates Q & A in the paper this week and even happier to see that a question I had emailed you was asked; “Who will you vote for in the Presidential Election?” What really shocked me though, is that not one single candidate answered the question. Several stated it was private and a right granted to us all, which I agree with wholeheartedly, except when you run for public office I believe your potential constituents have a right to know who and what you believe in, both on the local stage and on the national stage. There was only one candidate who stated that his orginal preference was no longer in the running and therefore, he wasn’t sure which way he was going to vote yet. I do believe him because I myself fall into the category of my preferred candidate, Hillary Clinton, no longer being in the race.
My problem with the candidates not answering that question is this; if you are afraid of isolating one potential voter by stating your preference, then what do you really stand for? If you are afraid to stand up for your own personal beliefs how on earth can we expect you to stand up for the citizens of this county? I am all too aware that this election is a hot bed issue this year, but come on folks, take a look around you! We need people in our public offices that can make decisions that they believe in and get behind those decisions 100%, but they can’t or won’t even make a personal decision that could possible help or hurt them politically in public. Remember that old saying “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything?” Is that what we have to look forward to this year?
I am a Hillary Clinton supporter. I will NOT be voting for Obama this year. I am a member of the Just Say No Deal Coalition, you can check it out at justsaynodeal.com. We are millions of Americans who will not stand for the lies, the cheating, the half counted votes of the Democratic party. We are Americans who will vote against those superdelegates running for office who endorsed Obama just to push Hillary out of the race. We are Americans who stand for something. Shame on you candidates for your inability to stand for something simply because you fear losing votes. Winning a race is sometimes less important than making a difference. Just look at Hillary Clinton, she did not win but, boy oh boy, has she made a big difference this year and the Democratic Party will be different from this point on because of it.

I edited it for grammar. I hope that helps.

Thanks Sandy, this was just my rough draft, I was going back through doing the same thing while waiting on some replies, I'm really looking for feedback and advice on the content. Thanks for your help.

please somebody out there? just tell me if it sucks if it sounds okay, something? This is a very small town and I'm hoping that maybe some of the people here who will blindly follow Obummer might possibly be reading because EVERYONE here reads this paper, it's like our own local gossip column with a wee bit of news thrown in but it's our only paper so it serves its purpose.

It's wonderful! We have been working on letters to the editor and flyers here at our little Hillary group. I think there are many people who read and respond to letters to editor in so many small towns! Good Work!!

I love your calm approach. The second paragraph is fantastic, and I may have to paraphrase a little in my own letter to the editor, if you don't mind.;)

My only reservation concerns asking people about who they're going to vote for. That's supposed to be one's private business, and I don't know if it would necessarily NOT be one's private business if they were a public official. I could be totally wrong about that. I did call my state's senatorial candidate and ask if they were supporting Obama. Of course, at least one of them lied to me.

Anyway, I like it overall.:)

I like the letter alot. It makes alot of valid points. I hope that some of the public officials in your town will take your words to heart. :)

I will read it more thoroughly. However, for your info, I do not know if I would push for that answer. The reason being, I have learned from higher up that many are still being pressured by Obama. We do not want them to speak out that they are voting for Obama and then feel like they will have to stick with that. They cannot say that they want to vote for Hillary cause she, until the convention, is not a nominee. If any are superdelegates that you are talking about, we especially need their silence if they are voting for Hillary; otherwise, per my contact, Obamabots will be stalking them at convention, in the elevators, and making threats to their families...yes it is this bad.

So, it is up to you but that is my two cents worth from what I have discussed with people that know more about what is going on than I do on the homefront.

No none of these people are superdelegates or anything close to it, this is just a small town local election primary Q & A that was in our local paper and every one of them refused to answer. And they aren't going to answer because the q&a has already been printed, I'm just writing to make the point that it's sad that not one of them has a backbone. The primary is on Tuesday the paper won't be out again until next Thursday so by that time it will be a moot point anyway, but I'm writing it basically to make a point not to get an answer.
