View Full Version : Anyone in OREGON?

ImmaSlave4U

So, Oregon votes on May 20th, but ballots will be going out in the mail (all voting is by mail) to voters in the begging of May...so we've got a lot fo work today! Polls are showing a very tight race here in Oregon, with Obama slightly ahead. But I know we can turn it around for Hillary with a lot of hard work.

So is there anyone from Oregon on the forum here? I'm in Eugene and have contacted someone who, with my help, is going to get Eugene organized for Hillary!

Mooaks, Donna and Viktoria are from Oregon, but none on-line right now.

I'm sure there are more, but those I know about.

Hope this helps.

Hi there.....
yes, I am from Oregon, but way down here in the Southwest corner of the state about 5 miles from the California border. I lost my group & all my S.Oregon contacts and a larger Oregon group out of Portland when the Official site went bonkers.
However, I am trying to connect with some of the Medford/ Ashland/Grants Pass people. I had hoped that we could be somewhat mobil and form a large network with other groups and meet up so we could actually form large gatherings in Portland, Eugene, Salem, Medford.
One thing I have done and I urge all others to do is write Oregon Legislators and especially Senator Ron Wyden and Rep. Peter DeFazio , urging their support for Hillary. As you know, Gov. Kulingoski has already endorsed Hillary so that is good! I have also written to major newspapers here in Oregon and I urge everyone to do the same.
Lets keep in touch.

Anyway, I'm gonna fire off an email to Peter DeFazio and Ron Wyden right now. I got a good Letter to the Editor about Hillary in Eugene's Sunday Register Guard last week! =)

Hello,

I live in Hillsboro, but work at Beaverton.
Didn't see any Obama people yet.
Talked to people at work. Some pro-Hillary, some towards Obama.
I would say 50/50.

He's coming to Portland Friday...not sure when where or how but I heard it on Mark & Brians show on 1190 KEX on my way home tonight. Not too keen on taking a day off of work but if he hangs through the weekend to do events I was thinking of going to protest him....Portland protesters usually make it on the 10 o clock news lol Last protest I was in was Dan Quaile and that was forever ago. I would like to get in the middle of one of those rallies and see if someone could tell me what they think he means by change and unity...I've been looking and can't find it anywhere. So yeah, protest is prolly not the right word, but you know theres going to be people there doing it.

If anyone in the PDX area needs any help with stuff let me know, I'm just across the bridge :)

Hello, I live in Portland. Any Hillary supporters that live here in Oregon might want to bookmark the following website:

www.oregon4hillary.com

Here's text from an email that went out to Oregon4hillary subscribers today:

Welcome to Oregon4Hillary. Through this site, we hope to keep you active, involved, interested, enthused, and excited about sending THE most qualified candidate to the White House! We are a completely volunteer organization at this point and would appreciate any comments, assistance, input, and ideas you may care to share. A few things you may want to know:

1.) We are currently looking for office space across the state and any donations of furniture to get our offices up and running ASAP wouldbe greatly appreciated. Folding tables, chairs, small fridge, shelving, coffee pot, etc. Before you have that garage sale, think of letting us borrow a few things until after May 20.

2.) Help build our volunteer base by holding a house party! Get your friends together and let them know how they can help right now. Email me and we can go over details and the who, what, when, where, and how. action@oregon4hillary.com

3.) Letters to the editor are always good and easy to do. Let your local papers know HRC has support in OR!! To find your local paper, go to http://www.congress.org/congressorg/dbq/media

4.) Please read last week's WW article about Baback Obama if you haven't already and forward it to any/all undecideds you may know in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Indiana, No. Carolina, Montana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico (with 55 delegates!). And Guam if you know anybody in Guam.

http://wweek.com/editorial/3418/10516/

While Obama supporters wrongly claim it's "negative" it's definitely food for thought.

5.) Host a BYOP - Bring Your Own Phone - party this weekend and every weekend. Calling through the Activate system is free, easy and not a bad way to spend a few hours a week. Again - email me and I'll forward script, FAQ, log-in instructions, and call-in codes. action@oregon4hillary.com

6.) Check the Events listings on Hillary's website to get together w/ fellow supporters. Post your county Democratic Party meetings, your house party and your phone party to let others know how to get involved. http://tinyurl.com/3cbok9

7.) Obama has outspent us 2 to 1 and sometimes 3 to 1 in Texas and we still won. You can assume he'll attempt to do the same in the upcoming states. Unless we help. If you CAN, please make a contribution today. Every penny helps - $10, $25, $50. $10 means 6 bumpers stickers. $200 is 2,500 lapel stickers. Go here -> www.hillaryclinton.com/contribute/jsc44

8.) Host a debate watch party on April 16 and post it on Hillary's events page here -> http://tinyurl.com/3cbok9
Watch Hillary prove once and for all she has the experience and strength to lead this country from day one!

And if you're in Portland on April 16, join us to watch the debate and grab a great burger at Starkys. It's listed on the events page above. Promises to be a fabulous time AND we'll be raising money for the next president of the United States. Not a bad deal at all!

Let's all stay connected!

Thanks, Lori

Great!! I think Senator Wyden and Rep. DeFazio will be a great influence if they endorse Hillary.
I wrote the Register Guard as well! And the Oregonian and some others.
This is getting exciting because I'll be able to go to the Medford area when Hillary comes there! Yay!!

Well, that is only true to some degree in the large metropolitan and college cities but Oregon , as a whole is suffering economically in so many areas and has many people in the lower financial scale. True that there are few minorities.
Oregon is a very stubborn state and loves to go against the " norm " ! ha!! This is one reason we are one of two states without a sales tax ( and I'm not complaining ) . Democrats like popular Gov. Kulongoski who endorsed Hillary and Oregon will probably love doing the opposite of Washington!
So, there are some good reasons to believe Oregon will swing toward Hillary.
I think if Senator Wyden and Rep. DeFazio endorse Hillary it will make a big difference as well. They are both very popular.

I'm really suprised at how many "Progressive" Oregonian Dems are defending the pastor issue. I would have thought with all the years of Metzger and his neo-nazi group causing problems that Oregonians would say NO to all racism.

Just posted this to www.blueoregon.com....we'll see if they post it or not.
This was under the Bill Clinton comes to Oregon...

************************************************** ****************
Welcome President Clinton.

We will not be silenced, but will silent the nay-sayers with our vote.

No amount of bullying, whether this site, or the "'ole boys" in the Democratic party, will stop us.

There are approximately 611 pledged delegates left; with the remaining 10 primaries. There are approximately 300 un-decided automatic delegates. Why would anyone be so transparent as to ask a candidate to "drop out" ?

There are 100+ delegates separating the two candidates; let the people vote and be heard. ALL THE VOTES !

GO HILLARY.....MY CHOICE IN 2008 !

( Had to re-enter the last line here, as I didn't pick it up when I copied and pasted.)

I drove down to Medford from Eugene to see Bill speak and it was really cool! lots of people, 2,700 people! Being around all the Hillary fans was so awesome. I talked to a lot of people, and got interviewed by two news stations! One of them asked if I worked for media because my soundbytes were so good. haha

I can't wait for Hillary to come to Eugene!!

OK guys, here's whats going to happen.

Hillary WILL BE in Eugene and Portland on Saturday! Details on where she will speak have yet to be released.

Here's a breif interview with KEZI EUGENE: http://www.kezi.com/article.aspx?id=26664&section=news&contentCat=local

So, when I went to see Bill in Medford, they asked us to RSVP via HillaryClinton.com and then I noticed we didn't get any ticket or anything. I called the campaign and asked why. They said the RSVP is to give them an idea on how many people to expect. Just hours before Bill was to arive, we got an email (and the news starting giving breaking news) telling us because of overwhelming response, they had to change venues!

So, just keep tuned to your local news and check out http://www.oregon4hillary.com/

Of course not.....everyone, come on ! Write, blog, make calls....

BloodDAnna.....I thought I had heard that she was friends and/or a supporter....with the owner of the Rose Garden ? What about the Civic ?
Hell, I think Delta Park is okay....though the traffic would be crazy....at least a saturday.
I have somewhere between 15-20 people waiting for her.....Please post any info !

ImmaSLAVE4U......Mac Court ? Maybe in Corvallis ?

Of Course, I would love Champoeg.....Historical ....not only the "one vote", every vote counts....But, the fact that this "territory" allowed women, even Indian women, to hold property (1850)......I believe the key is the women vote......
Champoeg is half way between Salem and Portland....gateway to at least the northern willamette valley......

Eugene is Vital.......

Dang, I can't hardly wait !

He said his friend had seen Obama and he wanted to see Hillary, cause she' gonna be the next president, dont you know mom !

I've never seen her so excited about a candidate, not even in '68. We went to lunch after and she was telling everyone about Hillary. Kids got interviewed in line; a little too shy. We did get to go in as others were going out. Wasn't ole Ted fired up !
I was telling others about the forum; I love to tell others about a totally pro-Hillary site !!!!!

I've been trying to decide the list of the most popular plans, think maybe we can make a difference pushing that kind of list, on the Oregon blogs...what you think ?
Universal health care, Iraq War deployment, Green jobs....
I loved that they had oregon people talking about what was important to them......
I think she has the hook....personalize....town hall type questions.....she is rapid fire with her answers; she knows her stuff and people get to see that she is NOT some monster, but a caring leader.
Let's do a little brainstormin....what should our blogger list for Oregon be ?

If that had been feasible, I'd have joined and gone along. It would have been great to see and hear Hillary in person. This didn't work out, but it would still be super to get in contact with other supporters in this area. (I'm in the Grants Pass area.) How inspiring to hear from someone who was there!! Good point about how Hillary personalizes with individuals at the rallies and answers questions without hesitation, showing she knows her facts and has solid plans to propose. Now as to issues I perceive as key to Oregonians here in SW Oregon:
--Jobs that pay a living wage and offer an opportunity to young families to live and work here and older workers to remain here
--Affordable health care for all individuals and families (many workers do not have health insurance because small businesses cannot afford to provide it or hire only part-time workers to avoid high insurance plan costs)
--An emphasis on alternative energy, both because we respect our environment and because developing clean energy would create "green industry" and new jobs
--A reasoned plan for Iraq for a phased withdrawal co-ordinated with our allies to promote as much stability in the area in the future as possible

I believe that the first priorities for most voters in this region are jobs and health care, followed closely by clean energy and a solution to the current situation in Iraq.

Cindy I'm sorry you didn't get in to see her. They had huge sections blocked out for certain groups but they did ask us to scootch together to let more people in but no one but the throng of nurses came into our section. You're mom sounds like she got inspired! I think Ted may have had some part of that as well, I never knew he was so cool.

How can we best serve Hillary in Oregon? I think calling is numero uno right now. Post blogs on Oregon sites, comment on Oregon media sites like Willamette Week and the Oregonian. If there are any of you that are extroverts how about printing off some Hillary literature of your own and taking it to events and handing them out?

They have caused 2 large Hillary groups to come to a virtual halt because the moderator BEGGED MySpace to help and they didn't. So I feel like I may have to set a precedence, much like the protest planned in NY. I have never dealt with so much crap in my life. So taking a break for now.....a deep breath and a cold beer?

I saw that on one of the group forums where they had a plea to MySpace. Don't let them stop you, I say forward a full account to every media source you can find....someone posted a massive list on here awhile back I'm sure you'll be able to locate it.

Hey for anyone interested to see the Hillsboro event, KOIN has it posted

Guys, I am in Hillsboro.
There is not much action here, not OB, not us.
I really need to get in touch with somebody else here.

I know from "www.blueoregon.com" that Obama people started to go door to door. We are opening office in Portland, I think infor will be on official web, so we can call them and start to do more for Hillary.

Hey Cindy, have you checked Hillary's site for all of the caucus/convenetions coming up? Your county is posted, you don't have to be a delegate or alternate to go and show your support for Hillary. You can also find out the info for Clark County @ www.bluedonkeys.com, Cowlitz is www.cowlitzdemocrats.org

She did win Clark and Cowlitz County in Feb so any support you or your friends could show may help move some of the oppositions delegates to Team Hillary. I'm a delegate and am bringing my teenage sons and MIL to show support while I'm busy :)

Thanks Anna....will try to rally the troops !
I don't work a 9-5 m-f....on-call, whenever, and it makes it difficult to get to all the places. But, I will do what I can. That's why the blogging, media e-mails,calls,etc, work well for me. I wear my Hillary pin, and, patiently answer whatever questions come my way. I have seen first hand that the buyers remorse is setting in...just in time for Oregon, though my Washington friends and co-workers, are saddened by the media coverage.

The next portland metro area rally, have a friend with a UTU flag....United Transportation Union was one of the first unions to come out for Hillary, and we'll be there....

Chelsea is supposed to be in Portland Saturday, check the official site for details. I really hope you can make the convention. I spoke with a Washington state Hillary worker on the phone tonight, she said it was very important Team Hillary didn't lose any delegates....my goal is to promote her with facts so the Obama delegates will see the error of their ways :)

Ballots are going out for the Oregon primary, if you can give any time at all tomorrow PLEASE go to your nearest Hillary Campaign Office so that you can start phoning voters. Even if you can only give an hour or 3 you would be helping Hillary in a huge way.

Hi Oregonians - I scanned the Oregon papers this morning & didn't see anything about Obama's ridiculous mistakes and his flimsy plans for Oregon. Here it is at mydd -

There is still a very big need for volunteers at the Portland office so even if you can only give a few hours they would greatly appreciate it.

This is AWESOME, a comprehensive plan covering "green energy", assisted suicide, etc. I am posting this everywhere, I have NOT seen Obama doing this!!! She was even involved in the creation of the Oregon Health Plan back in 1993!

I guess the Eugene Register-Guard just endorsed Obama, my sis lives there, lots of young people but alot of upper income professionals, no doubt he will get majority of votes there. I'm in Salem, who knows what the f**k with this city. It's predictably random. I guess there's 4% of the Dems here undecided, that could get her a win! Go Hillary!
