Juan Williams was very critical of the equation that Obama made between his Pastor and Grandmother. He looked and sounded really mad at that part of his speech.

Coming from an African American man this should mean something. I hope it does anyway. Heck he basically called his white mother and grandmother who raised him racist didn't he? How could people see that as inspiring? Unless they are supernaturally brainwashed. Or just have no common sense.

Juan Williams is saying that Obama did not distance himself from Wright.
He said that Obama used Pastor to gain political influence.

He says Obama sat there and nodded his head for 20 years.
The host says that if this becomes about race, Obama loses.
Williams says that white people also face difficulties and this is about black people.
Williams says Obama is in a box as the black candidate.
I'm watching, too, and I think it's hopeful that a guy like Juan Williams, with NPR creds, is speaking out so honestly and rationally. Love the Juan! :)

Yup, his defended his pastor by calling his white grandmother a racist. How cheap is that!
Comparing a blood relative to a chosen pastor that way. And taking it out on his white relative.

A democratic strategist is trying to defend Obama. But the host is ripping him by asking him how Obama could not want to separate from comments like "America is Al Qaeda" or "God damn America".
A republican strategist says that Obama said that race didn't matter but now you see a very motivated racial commentary in two generations. She says that racially political commentary is happening in a presidential election.

obama ran this race stating "his judgement was better than hillary's experience", but sitting in the front pew listening to the racist, hatred speeches of his pastor, didn't deter him from leaving, rather just sit there and nod his head in acceptance, now he tells us, his "judgement was abit irratic"
now which is it mr.obama, are you flip flopping, how many stupid americans will be there to listen and vote for your rhetoric, and acceptance of hate by your church teachings
no wonder your wife "found love in america", she was indoctrinated as well with the hatred, but now she has found "love", what a flip flop that was

Another commentator asks why he stayed at the church for so long. Why didn't he leave before this became such a big issue.
Rasmussen says that 42% of people say that Obama should have quit the church.
Forget about quiting the church. What he really needs to do is quit the democratic nomination race.
He is attempting to divide the electorate through racism, sexism, ageism and homophobia.
How a democratic party could ever consider nominating such a person is BEYOND COMPREHENSION.

Cavuto says that Obama turned this into a race thing.
Another commentator asks why he stayed at the church for so long. Why didn't he leave before this became such a big issue.
Because he's a shameless opportunist.
I mean, people are really ignorant if they fall for this...
The opportunism is so obvious...so transparent...
Cavuto says that Obama turned this into a race thing.
Of course he did. He wanted to simultaneously tap into "white guilt" and "black anger" and in so doing turn white and black voters alike against Clinton.
True justice will have been served if he FAILS in this shameful endeavor to divide people on the basis of race.

If he quits the churh, he will surely get reaction from Black who are Wright's fans and from Black loygal church goers. He will also get hit from all church ministers...That is the reason why he denounced Wright's coments, but not rejected Wright or the church...Believe me, if he got nothing, no political benefit from being tie with Wright and the church, he would have dropped them long ago...

I think the reason why he couldn't reject Wright but rejected his own grandmother is because Wright is like a father to Obama although knowing Obama and the opportunist that he is, he might have done it because of that meeting he had with the black religious leaders. They might have threatened to disown him and make African Americans not vote for him.

They are playing the Pastor video again and them Obama saying he can't disown Pastor or his grandmother.
Gingrich says he was intellectually and fundamentally dishonest to reduce it to his grandmother.
He says that he was there for 20 years, it was hateful divisive, and fundamentally fanctually wrong statements by Obama today.
He asks why he didn't sit down with the Pastor and tell him he is wrong. He says that Obama owes the country a candid honest answer.

Gingrich says that comments like AIDS created by US to kills blacks is fundamentally dishonest.
Cavuto asks whether you think he knew this.
Gingrich says that the campaign was able to find Geraldine Ferraros comments from a small time newspaper yet they weren't able to know this??? He says he knew before the campaign.
He poses the question, that if he knew this one year ago then you had to disown him. Then in study of idealism and courage why didn't he disown him back then.
Why did he not care enough about Wright to teach him the truth.
He says that if he can't give the truth to his pastor how could he visit world leaders like castro, kim jung, and amednijad.
he says this is flaw of character.
he says he owes it to the country to tell us the truth.

Obama speaks NOW of his white grandmother to pander to the white vote.
Before today, she was personna non grata to him.
He considered her racist (comments about fearing black men).
He obviously has more allegiance and respect for his Anti-American pastor than his blood relative.
He now says he should have given his mother more credit for who he is (again playing to the white vote).
He also said a few days ago he'd never heard these things from Wright in the pews and today that he had heard them while in church.
So do we believe he was lying then or NOW!

Can superdelegates be contacted by us (to express our desire that they denounce Barack Obama and get behind HRC instead)?

Here is how to write to superdeligates:
----------
Come on, everyone, PLEASE, let's ALL write to the superdelegates to REMIND THEM!!!
http://www.delegatehub.com/contact/
FACT: Pledged delegates and automatic delegates are the same - they each count for ONE vote.
The Democratic Party chooses its delegates in three ways: 1) through primaries where millions vote; 2) through caucuses where thousands vote; and 3) it gives a role to elected leaders and other party activists in the process. >Automatic delegates (commonly referred to as "super delegates") comprise the third category. Automatic delegates come from all 56 states and territories and consist of Democratic members of Congress, Democratic governors, distinguished party leaders (including former Democratic presidents, vice presidents, former House and Senate Democratic leaders and former DNC Chairs) and members of the Democratic National Committee. These DNC members are activists and grassroots supporters who are focused on helping Democrats win at all levels of elective office. There is no difference between pledged delegates and automatic delegates - they each count as one delegate in the final tally and no distinction is made between them at the convention.
FACT: Neither candidate can secure the nomination without automatic delegates.
The Obama campaign is trying to shut down the Democratic race before the rest of the country votes. There are still many states and territories that have not voted with almost 600 delegates at stake. These delegates represent more than 27% of the delegate votes needed for the nomination. It is mathematically impossible for Sen. Obama to secure the delegate votes needed for the nomination without a large number of automatic delegates. This is why, despite publicly attempting to discount the role of automatic delegates, the Obama campaign is aggressively courting - and pressuring - them behind the scenes.
FACT: Automatic delegates are expected to exercise their best judgment in the interests of the nation and the Democratic Party.
The Obama campaign is claiming that automatic delegates must follow the lead of pledged delegates and switch their vote to Sen. Obama. This is false and unfounded - and it is contradicted by Sen. Obama's top strategist, David Axelrod, who said, "These are elected officials from across the country and they're supposed to exercise their judgment as to what would be best for the party. And as they look at this, they need to decide who would be the strongest candidate for the party." This view is echoed by other prominent Democratic leaders, including House Majority Whip James Clyburn and DNC Chairman Howard Dean, who has said of automatic delegates, "Their role is to exercise their best judgment in the interests of the nation and of the Democratic Party."
FACT: Florida and Michigan should count, both in the interest of fundamental fairness and honoring the spirit of the Democrats' 50-state strategy.
An important part of the debate over delegates is the role of Florida and Michigan. Hillary Clinton believes that the voices of 600,000 Michigan primary voters and 1.75 million Florida primary voters should be heard at the Democratic convention. In the 2004 presidential race, the turnout in Michigan was only a quarter of what it was this year - and the 2004 turnout in Florida was less than half of what it was this year. With such dramatically increased turnout, Hillary won those two states and she did it with all candidates on an equal footing. In Florida, all presidential candidates were on the primary ballot and all followed the rules (except for Sen. Obama who broke the rules by running television ads in violation of his pledge to the early states and to the other presidential candidates). In Michigan, Sen. Obama voluntarily withdrew his name from the primary ballot to curry favor with Iowa. He was under no obligation to do so. However, his supporters organized a substantial vote for 'uncommitted' on the ballot, thus he is represented in the delegation. Hillary Clinton obeyed all the rules in Florida and Michigan and came out ahead. She had no intrinsic advantage over her opponents other than the will of the voters. The voters of Florida and Michigan should be heard and the delegates from Florida and Michigan should count.
FACT: There is a clear path to an overall delegate majority (pledged + automatic) for Hillary Clinton after all states have voted -- with or without Florida and Michigan.
Contrary to the Obama campaign's claims that the race is over, all voters should have their say before a candidate declares victory and tries to circumvent the democratic process.
The race is currently a virtual tie, with the campaigns now separated by a handful of the more than 4,000 delegates to the Democratic Convention. Hillary Clinton has won states from New York to California and everywhere in between. She has won in states north, south, east and west, red and blue. She has won states she was not expected to win -- such as Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Arizona. She has won in rural, urban and suburban areas. And she is winning virtually all the states a Democrat will need to win the presidency.
Most importantly, she has won key swing general election states such as Ohio, New Mexico and Florida, which when added to the states John Kerry won in 2004, would permit our nominee to win 270 electoral votes and thus the White House. Conversely, Senator Obama's big wins have come in many states that have not voted for a Democrat in the general election since 1964, such as Alaska, Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wyoming. Hillary Clinton is working for every vote in the many contests to come and she believes every vote should count. By early June, when the last state holds its election, Hillary will be in a position to clinch the Democratic nomination.

If they kill the MI revote, they will get revenge from peopole every where in the country, not only MI>.....big back fire....Either way, Hillary is winning!!!
if? is their still a chance for the michigan re-vote??Because that would be great. I think it's unlikely that the florida deledates will be seated, but it's absolutely impossible that Michigan would count without a re-vote...

Looking at the numbers on the Rasmussen site, BO's unfavorable numbers are higher than his favorable numbers for the first time (today and yesterday) than they have been in more than a month (or more, since the chart only shows through 2/11/08)

They say that his speech was defending his Pastor but most people should have sent his pastor packing.
They say he embraced his Pastor more so. They say the speech was dishonest by how they compared pastor to Ferraro. Obama was suggesting that the controversy was new but this was going on for 20 years.

Yes, the judgement issue!!! Did he not REALIZE that this could blow up in his face, hurting not only him but the whole democratic party??? And, if he still gets the nom and loses -- the whole country?? If he didn't then he's not as smart as I thought.
Sheesh if I were running his campaign I would have advised him to get away from that angry church a long time ago, go to a nice quiet integrated kum-by-ya church. America may be ready for a black president but not an angry black president. The seeds of doubt have been planted. Even though Obama does not appear racist and angry, the fact that he tied himself so closely with Mr. Wright will make people fear he is hiding something.

(Oprah seems to be stuck too now. hehe)
They are saying this black liberation theology that is hostile to whites. the democrat on the panel says that this is about AA community.
They say that these sorts of comments must have happened many more times.

I'll admit, I hadn't known too much about black liberation theology. Now that I have learned about it, it doesn't seem much like theology at all to me.
That said, I understand, as much as any white person can, the pain and frustration that members of the black community must feel due to discriminatory and oppressive practices they have to face.
However, countering hate with more hate does not seem the answer to me. If white people are as racist as Wright and Obama think we are, Wright's remarks and Obama's speech will set race relations back another 40-50 years.

To equate one small quip of Geraldine Ferraro as being divisive and racist against that hate-monger personal mentor of his is mind-boggling. I can't believe he evoked her name in this speech at all, or the Clintons, even us as supporters, for that matter.
"We can dismiss Reverend Wright as a crank or a demagogue, just as some have dismissed Geraldine Ferraro, in the aftermath of her recent statements, as harboring some deep-seated racial bias."
"We can play Reverend Wright’s sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words. We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she’s playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies. "
This man has very little scruples.

They say there are a lot of questions on this speech.
Are people buying this speech? People are saying that he might have gone to that church to develop political ties. That is why he is not distancing himself from the pastor.

They can see thru B.S. most of them anyway. i started to read BO's speech but it was SO LONG i gave up. one speech cannot wipe away years of sitting in silence in front of bigotry. Exactly what he has done to our gal in this race. Sat silent while the misogynist press attacked her and never once stepped up because it was not in his self-interest to do so.
He is history. i don't care what the pundits say. they've usually been wrong during this whole race. they are miopic and cannot see the tremendous excitement for Hillary due to their personal bias. They completely miss it like when edwards/bo ganged up on Hillary and what that looked like to women everywhere.
they continue to underestimate our gal and her support. they are arrogant and think they can shape this election, but they are being proven wrong and after it's all over their will be more resignations and firings and shufflings on the national press.

SUBJECT: ANTI-AMERICAN OBAMA'S LIES AND HYPOCRISIES, DISTRUST, AND NO INTEGRiTY
Obama's explanation was incomplete and unsubstantial. I expected him to denounce and reject his pastor outright and cast him away as a miscreant and racist. He fell well short of that. Instead he chose to join his friend and Pastor along his racist and anti-America agenda.
Senator Obama's Speech was as expected moving and well articulated. But his gift of oratory is hardly news to anyone. If we focus on the content of his speech he couldn't tell anything that would excuse his 20 year relationship with Wright. I can understand the anger of African Americans, but does that justify to damn America? Hardly. Does that justify to not leave a church, where such views are expressed and even expose your own kids to such hateful words? Hardly, especially for someone, who claims to be a uniter this is simply inexcusable. And in our face he told us that he was lying to us the last week interviews and apologies everywhere. he insisted when asked directly if he knew anything about these comments or if he was in the church when comments like the one we saw were said. He said NO!!! When asked if he would stop going to the church and denounce and distance himself from the pastor if he heard anything like that he said yes if i heard those repeatetly. He did hear them but he stayed there taking in the indoctrination, along with anti-american Michelle. And when the Pastor gave the award to Farrakan he did not. How stupid can we be to vote and believe this person again. He told the truth, he praise his pastor and firmly indicated that at no way he will drop his relationship with the pastor as he said he is a part of him (the all american hero). GIVE ME A BREAK, AS BILL SAID BEFORE.

The thing is Obama is different. He didn't really face the kind of racism he describes. Didn't he also live in Indonnesia with his mom and stepfathers. I think someone from http://www.stop-obama.org/ did a good job in summarizing it up well: The picture is on the site.
praying you don’t learn more about his church, his pastor, his lies, his confused and immature heart…his inability to deal with himself, his heritage, and his overpowering ambitions.
I think the last line says it all. Obama is someone still struggling to find out where he truly belongs.

:DI am not even interested in the speech. I will not be conned. This man is extremely narcissist and will say anything to satisfy the current moment. Nothing he says can be believed.
I know I did not listen to the speech. I have avoided reading most of it too because I knew he was going to try to justify his position. From reading the news and here it's obvious he never addressed the issue of lying. And did he really diss his mother and grandmother? Disgusting.
My brother, who is inexplicably a Republican (don't ask) emailed me and was furious about NObama. He said I must be dancing in the street over this and that at least Fox news had the guts to air this and question it, etc. Well, I told him, no we're not exactly dancing. As he well knows the MSM have all but forgiven NObama and downplayed the whole thing.
My brother and I finally agree on politics for once!! Not to mention Fox now being "fair and balanced"! Who knew!?
But as soon as Hillary gets the nomination, all bets are off about Fox News! :D

Current poll of CBS news:

1/3 of independents will say he is now less favorable.

It was a good speech but with all the Anti_America behavior from his wife and his campaign, It doesnt add up..The trust is gone. he has another agenda maybe? I dont think spending years and years listening to this hate and lies is in the best interest of the American people. Its as if he is trying to start a up -rising in America...Just what we need in a time of War. as if we dont have enouph to worry about.
