View Full Version : [8-16-08] "Obama's Massive Headfake: Hillary for VP?" (The Next Right)

via conservative blog RedState.com Oops! It's TheNextRight.com... not RedState.com... my bad.

The reasons to think Hillary Clinton will not the Democratic VP nominee are myriad. Among them:

Clinton's camp says she is not being vetted
VoteBoth, a Clinton-for-VP project by two former Clinton operatives, has shut down, proclaiming Clinton's VP chances nonexistent
Hillary is speaking on Tuesday night in Denver, and having her name placed in nomination. VP nominees speak on Wednesday.
Let me outline why I think all of this could be a massive headfake:

Clinton is already the most vetted public official in America. Lack of "formal vetting" doesn't say very much. And "formal vetting" can occur at any time. I'm sure Vice Presidential search committee head Dick Cheney didn't submit his papers several weeks out.
It is precisely the fact that VoteBoth is a project of Sam Arora and Adam Julian Parkhomenko (who was an assistant to ex-Hillary CM and current Obama VP COS Patti Solis Doyle) that makes this interesting. We can be certain that the shutdown was done in consultation with Hillary and Obama operatives at the highest levels. That either means Clinton is not the pick, or Obama and Hillary's people don't want people to think Clinton is the pick. Those are two different things.
Convention speaking schedules can be changed. Most everyone on the short list already has a scheduled speaking slot. Clinton receiving upwards of 40% on the first ballot and then being chosen as the VP could enhance the "catharsis." Obama would simply be bowing to the will of Democratic Convention-goers.

UGH, I really hope that she's not the pick. It would make going against Obama so much more difficult a choice for me. I couldn't vote for the ticket, but I'd hate to work against it so hard.

I honestly believe she will NOT be VP. Here are my reasons:

1. She's already turned it down 3 times. She has less reason now to accept than right after the primaries.
2. Obama was speculated to announce his VP before the Olympics. He didn't.
3. If HRC had agreed to do it, they would NOT wait until the convention. He would have announced it earlier to "heal" the party before the big night.
4. Both Hillary and Bill campaigned on "Obama is not electable" argument. They CANNOT prove themselves wrong.
5. Hillary has agreed to go into nomination. If she was going to be VP, she would have announced that instead and spared herself (and Obama) the scrutiny and uproar of a roll call.
6. Bill hates Obama.
7. Hillary likes McCain and no matter what the talking points are she must say, I KNOW she doesn't think he's a third term of GWB. If it was somebody else, she may sacrifice herself to save the country. I think she feels it will be okay in McCain's hands.
8. Hillary wants to be president if not this year, then 2012.

Not to mention that BHO's ego is too massive to allow another President (Bill) to be in the White House with him.

"Okay", as in relative to Obama right? I'm sure she would prefer to be president than Sen. McCain, lol.

Yes. Given the scenario that she's not the nominee... she doesn't need to sacrifice herself by taking VP to save the country from a McCain presidency. If it was a more conservative Rove Republican she might take the VP to prevent that person from getting into power.

Nah. He's going to pick Biden. JMHO.

Hillary doesn't want it. She knows Obama is dunzo and she is going to run in 2012.

I agree. It could put me off politics altogether.

No problem working against Obama, but it would be much harder with Hillary on the ticket. Why would she ever do that??????????

I personally think she is going to be V.P. She is the ONLY person at this point who can actually help him win.

I do not think that she would accept the VP spot.

Just listen again to what she said at her last speech where she conceded and HOW she said it over and over again. It sounded a bit ... unenthusiastic.

So many people did refuse to get VP, why should she want to be the VP of a man how threw so much dirt at her and her husband?

Besides: She doesn't owe him anything, and she doesn't owe the democratic party anything.

She can't be our next VP because she'll be our next President!

Hillary is brilliant in so many ways, but she's not exactly an Academy Award winning actress. She can learn lines and recite them without error, but her tone of voice and her body language give her away every time.

I'll be right with you skc. Love you Hillary but putting BO in the White House is just not something I'm comfortable with.

I can't even begin to entertain the possibility of her being veep. It would offend me, heartbreak me, piss me off, and I would probably tear down my Hillary wall in the garage. It would be so wrong on many different levels. I am sick of this cat and mouse game. I will be soooo relieved, one way or the other, when the convention is over. This waiting and guessing is getting OLD

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Bill wants her to take on the vp job. Can't you see it now? Everybody who is anybody in the world having dinner at the Vice President's house and discussing matters of importance in the world and America.... While Barry watches himself on tv and vacations in various parts of the world - without his wife!

I will never support any ticket that has Obama on it. I don't care if the Lord Himself was on the ticket with him. Obama is dangerous - pure and simple.

It would hurt me to have to work seriously hard to defeat that ticket, but I would. I cannot support it. As McCain continues to prove and say:

Country first, Party second

And THAT is what I believe in.
