PUMA and P.U.M.A

Some have put a politically correct face on this acronym. But the true beginnings of this political separatist group meant Party Unity My Ass. So long as we were quiet, small and non-invasive we were called a bunch of disgruntled cry babies. But when our numbers swelled we are now called divisive, insurrectionist, disruptive people led by Republican NEOCONS.

Divisive, yes. Disgruntled, yes. Angry, yes. Determined. Certainly. You may even call us insurrectionist, but Republican NEOCONS, not on your life! We are as far from using our efforts to benefit one party over the other as water is from fire. We are a group of dedicated people that are completely fed up with the path politics and the political parties have taken.

Divisive? You Bet! And what is wrong with that? During colonial America there were plenty of people quite content with British rule. Why rock the boat, that arrangement was quite comfortable for many people in America. But for some it became intolerable, and the movement grew, the revolutionary war was about as divisive as it gets. I suppose that the founders of this country were the first PUMA members, the minute men and other revolutionary heroes

They certainly had enough with Party Unity, they saw that it was flawed and corrupt and did something about it.

The Democrats that make up PUMA are against the corrupt political process that seems to have infected the Democratic party. The back room deals, the American Idolizing of the Democratic political process. The abandonment by elected officials of voters demands and wishes to pursue their own selfish political agenda. But we are not all exclusive, we welcome Republicans that have become disgusted with the way the Republican party has been over run by NEOCON ultra right wing conservatives.

The vast majority of us in this country are not Progressive Left Wing nor Conservative Right wing radicals. The extreme left and right we consider the lunatic fringe. Yet over the years these groups have taken control of the political process in America and our politicians have lost touch of the reality of every day life 90% of this country faces. They so rarely stick their heads out side of their small tight circle of friends, acquaintances, and collogues that they are mostly oblivious to what is happening to the remaining 90% of the population unless some major calamity happens to intrude into their cozy cocoon.

So they sit and make policy, select candidates, cut their backroom deals with almost complete indifference to the needs, wishes, and opinions of the American constituency.

How else can you explain why in states where Hillary Clinton won the vast majority of the cast votes, delegates and elected representatives ignore the clear decision of the people and put their allegiance behind the loosing candidate? THIS IS what spawned PUMA! So long as such action by our political parties and politicians continues, so long as political parties insist on invalidating state elections, or favoring the elections of certain states over others for personal political gain PUMA will exist. So long as the tactics of Republicans during the 2000 general election and the tactics of the Democrats during the 2008 primaries continue PUMA shall remain. PUMA and PUMA member believe in two things above anything else, the Declaration of Independence! And the Constitution of the United States of America!

WE CLAIM THE RIGHT TO DIVIDE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY until it returns to act in the best interests of first ALL American citizens and second to the voters who placed them in their offices of public trust. We declare our independence of DNC back room deals, favoritism, financial favors, and disregard for constituency. We declare our independence from flawed primary vehicles like caucuses, and favoritism of certain states over others in regards to the election schedule. We declare our independence from any party where one vote cast is not one vote counted.

PUMA is any citizen of the United States who has finally become fed up with the way our elected officials have acted and the way our political parties have conducted them selves.
PUMA is any citizen who is sick and tired of the quality of political leaders our parties insist on placing before the national and primary vote, especially when that individual is ultimately SELECTED and not actually ELECTED by the voters.

We shall be PUMA until the time comes when PUMA will no longer be necessary.

I never looked at it as if PUMA was dividing the democratic party. I always felt it was those who thought they could do whatever they wanted that were responsible for the division. That has got to stop because then we are no different than any other country whose people's votes don't mean anything. If it does not matter if we vote and who we vote for in the primary, then it does not matter who we vote for at election time. It does not matter period. So if the democratic party nominates Senator Obama, I will happily and whole heartedly vote for Senator McCain. My republican friends and family are very happy.

IMO, the Democratic Party divided itself when it refused to listen to the will of the people. Hence, Party Unity My A** PUMA.

I was getting rather disgusted with the way pundits and mouthpieces were characterizing PUMA. It was to be expected that PUMA would be hijacked to some degree by Republican operatives to further the agenda against the Democratic party. But in the USA it is their freedom of speech right and I respect and support their rights to do so.

But PUMA really never started as political PAC, political action groups are not really what PUMA is about. PUMA is a movement much more than a PAC, Website, or self ineterest group.

The term Party Unity My Ass, certainly does not imply allegiance to any single political entity or special interest.

So I wrote what I believe PUMA to be, what it should be and why it was born. PUMA is anyone, and everyone who no longer feels that the political process is representative of the American Citizens regardless of political associations.

Government and the Law making process is key to the success of any nation. Government has to be free, open and honest. Government needs to be above and should not be equal to politics. But over the decades in the United States Politics has over shadowed government. Politics has become government. I feel that in the US government no longer exists it is all politics.

Bill Clinton I believe was the first president in a long long time to say screw the politics and lest get Government Work Done! I also believe this is why he was despised by many both on the republican and democratic side. Republicans and Democrats are politicians. Bill Clinton went from politician to government leader after the campaign.

Most other presidents never became Government Leaders, they just stayed Politicians and hence the current condition of the United States of America.

PUMA means we need Government Leaders, highly qualified public servents running this country and NOT politicians. Of course that is why politicians do not like us very much.

Divisive is a relative term. If breaking with the group because you believe that group is not longer serving the group as a whole then you can call it divisive. The root cause while important is not necessarily required.

Yes Area 504, that is the moment that the Democratic Party divided. I believe it was the day that the DNC had its meeting. I think we need to mark this day down somewhere. I remember that day very well (wish I could rememeber the date). The Party separated beyond repair that day, a bitter divorce would ensue for sure.

Exactly. The party we knew has been usurped. It no longer represents us.
We are fighting to get the REAL Democratic party back. Our country needs the REAL Democratic party.

I understand what you are saying and I agree, but If I used the interpretation that the DNC and Senator Obama have been using when describing PUMA, then maybe a little clarification is needed if it is posted to John Q. Public. I just had visions of all of the Senator Obama supporters saying "I told you it was their fault." On all other points it reads extremely well.

This is why I defined divisive in the light of the American Revolution. Without that Divisive act America would never have been born. Division is not allways a bad thing. Hopefully most readers get the metaphore.

One thing for sure, you can always refer to that part when someone does misread it. Maybe you will also be able to educate all those educated Senator Obama supporters a little more. Hee hee.

Well said. We've had 8 years of extreme right wing rule, 4 years of extreme left wing rule doesn't balance anything. Extreme political polarities create opportunities for tyrants. We've got to stop this political pendulum from swinging so wildly or we will be left with a void just waiting for the right tyrant to fill it. Heaven forbid he may already be at the gates.

The vast majority of us in this country are not Progressive Left Wing nor Conservative Right wing radicals. The extreme left and right we consider the lunatic fringe.
