Ms. Ferraro was, as usual, absolutely wonderful last night on Hannity and Colmes. Gerry is as flabbergasted as we are by Dean’s comment characterizing Republicans as the “White Party”. What has happened when the head of the DNC thinks it is ok to say things like this?
Geraldine’s emergence has become an interesting development in this alternately exciting and disgusting primary season. We are finally getting a chance to get know her better…and have discovered that she has the heart of a PUMA. She is a woman of the people — all the people — and she has been so impressive during this trying time for the party. It is becoming apparent who the real grown-ups are in the Democratic party, and it makes me proud that they are those great Americans that I have respected all along.
The Fox and the PUMA
It feels like Fox is morphing into the PUMA network. Lou Dobbs is the only thing worth watching on CNN anymore…maybe he’ll make a move to Fox too, after they have realized how large our demographic is. It’s great to see Clinton Democrats represented so well - and it is strange that Fox seems to be the only outlet really talking in depth about what has been going on in this election. MSNBC & CNN are nothing but hours upon hours of sweet bouquets to Obama. I haven’t watched MSNBC since February and CNN since March with the exception of Dobbs. Fox has been pretty even-handed in their reporting on McCain, they do lean a little, but they are not afraid to discuss his shortcomings. They have certainly been more ”fair and balanced” than their competitors.
Rupert Murdoch owns a nice bit of Fox and he knows a little about business. He is “investing” in the PUMAs for a very sound business reason. Even just focusing on the female PUMAs for now - women are a gigantic demographic, over half the population of the country, and have incredible buying power. Republicans, the traditional viewership for FOX News, revere capitalism, so of course they like us. We spend. Fox advertisers like us for the same reason. But this new openness to Hillary’s folks may represent more than just financial expediency. Cynical people might say it is just because Fox wants McCain elected. Athough probably true to a degree, Fox appears to have moved a little to the center. So have PUMAs — or maybe some of us have always been there.
PUMAs certainly have one thing in common with Republicans - we believe that the world is much too volatile right now to elect a presidential candidate with so little experience. Fox, to their credit, has recognized PUMAs as patriotic Americans involved in an honest conversation about moving the country forward without the partisan polarization that is has become the hallmark of our government today. Fox has been willing to help facilitate our discussion. I appreciate this, and hope they will continue to invite divergent viewpoints on the network to help us open communication channels between the parties. PUMAs are becoming a huge conduit for real CHANGE for the American people and thankfully we have a way to reach out to voters that don’t spend much time on the internet.
It’s time to Wake up America. Money and special interests are obstructing any attempts to help the citizens of this country improve the quality of their lives. We need to become informed and act. There is a ton of work to be done, and we can’t "delegate" it any more.
I can hardly believe I am saying this, but thank you Fox News. Now let’s reach across the aisle and face the challenges of this country. Wouldn’t that be a CHANGE?
