The only thing I am pretty certain of is that white people are typically a sort of pinkish tan color.

So he is saying I am "racist" too, just by virtune of being a "typical white person". This time his comment is personal to me and I am disgusted by it.

Obama needs to drop out of this nomination process ASAP.

I have hated it when people identify me as white or latina. It is a disrespect to assume that because my skin is beige to olive green that I am white. My mother is white. I hate that too because my mother is English-Swedish. She cannot help that but her family were farmers for generations. They were not Nazis or White Supremists.

That is what I have been saying about the crazy people on the streets of down town santa cruz for years. There are homeless people and then there are crazy homeless people. And, even though they all fight amongst each other, they all back each other.

For instance, over the summer, I think on the Fourth of July, they started a fire in the middle of street down town. So, they were all laughing and making fun of the firemen who had to come out with their fire hoses to put it out. I mean, only crazy people want to waste energy, time and money to break the backs and banks of the government.

Those same people attend the city council meetings and complain about not having services. Well, there is free food for homeless people in Santa Cruz. Every day there is the Catholic Mission and several others per week. Yet if they are not getting the services they want, why do they not participate in solving issues vs. creating issues to solve?

Please do not send more crazy people to our city.

Who would ever guess that "typical" could become a stereotype? I think we are all individuals within groups whether it be race, religion, choice of music, favorite food, you get the picture. I resent the implication deeply that because I am white that I am consequently baised or racist. I DO KNOW THIS: Pastor Wright spews racism, distrust, hate and suspicion and WHY he feels that way is not the issue. Simply put, whatever the cause, racism has no place in a free society. I am not a person of color so maybe I just don't "get" it but I am a woman and know the challenges I have faced all my life in a male dominated society. I had no idea that I was typical! My mother always told me that I was a unique individualized expression of god. He told the story wrong for effect in his speech about his granny. In his book "Dreams of My Father" (got this info from a blog) he tells about his granny waiting on a corner for a bus, when she was approached by a black homeless person who threatened her verbally, and was saved from harm by the bus pulling up just in time. If the typical part was not bad enough! Did I hear him right and did he say....we were "bred" to be this way? Holy crap! I know I'm getting old but does anyone remember a guy that went by the name of "Jimmy the Greek"? He was on television as a professional sports personality. He would give analysis and odds of winning when two teams were to face off. This man lost his entire career when he made off the record remarks about why he felt blacks excelled in sports and attributed it to "breeding" practices by slave owners. This happened in 1988, the man was fired from CBS, and despite his public apology he was sent packing, labeled as a racist. His statements certainly were insensitive but to me do not sound much different from what I am hearing from Obama himself at this point. Am I to believe that it is "OK" that this man lost his career by stating blacks were bred to be superior athletes, yet twenty years later a presidential candidate can get up on television and state that whites were bred to be "fearful"? You know what makes me really sad? Is how SELFISH he is! He won't just say "You know, this is enough, people are upset and whether it's my fault or not, it's surrounding me. I had a "To Kill a Mockingbird" childhood in a small Southern town, but my WHITE parents didn't teach me to hate, and I remember everything about the racism that was prevalent in the South. I wonder who's a "typical white person" is? The racists, or me, the kid who dragged my very Southern mother to see a movie called "King" in the aftermath of the murder of Martin Luther King? Is it the people who never took a class in college in the 70's from a professor of color, or is it ME, the girl who was constantly harassed in my Black Literature class at the University of Delaware, but who still went on to study Black Women Writers in her Senior year with the same black, female, feminist professor (HI, Dr. Hull, wherever you are!!!).

Well, I was typically trying to find any news on the "news networks" that was actually news and not pabulum. When something atypical happened. On CNN, they were showing clips of Obama to music. The tune? Why it was a
Annie Lennox/ Eurythmics tune. They didn't play the lyrics, just the rockin' intro. But the words go:

would I lie to you
would I lie to you honey
now, would i say something that wasn't true
I'm asking you baby, would I lie to you

It could be that the suppression of negative Obama feelings is weighing on the people over at CNN, and it is starting to leak through in subconcious impulses like playing-- at least-- the beginning of the tune.

Or, it could be that there's a subversive Hillary techie out there...:)



If they're attempting to use sublime messaging...well, that might explain the number of kool-aid people out there.

I find it extremely racist that he used the word "bred"...I MEAN SERIOUSLY. BRED?!!

I don't know about the rest of you since I won't presume to think my thoughts are TYPICAL, but I avoid/fear anyone who looks angry/crazy. Be it tattooed chinese/vietnamese/japanese or bikie style big bearded white or hoodstyle black.

I don't call this racist. I call this prudent. These people, regardless of race are crazy. Period. Any sane person would avoid them and I doubt it's anything to do with breeding.

You know what makes me really sad? Is how SELFISH he is! He won't just say "You know, this is enough, people are upset and whether it's my fault or not, it's surrounding me. This isn't good for this country and I am sorry, I am stepping aside so we can move on" That would be the noble and admirable thing to do. And I'm not just saying that as a Hillary supporter. He's going down and he's taking the country and the Democratic party with him because he knows Hillary can't catch him in delegates in the rest of the race. It's not fair and frankly, it shows he doesn't give two craps about this country.

I have been doing local Dem political things and I've had to sit with this 50 year old, white, Jewish, die hard Obama supporter who makes me want to smack him upside the head. He was making excuses for Obama all day on Tuesday and asked the Obama rep what to tell his friends about all the propaganda. I wanted to puke. He said he was a lifelong Republican who switched parties in January (most likely caught up in the wave of Obama). He always carries this water bottle filled with what looks like milk or iced coffee. I've had to bite my tongue but I'm tempted to ask if it's Kool Aid with cream in it.:rolleyes:

Next time you see him just tell him he ia such a TYPICAL White Person and leave.

This reminds me of one of my least favorite moments from when I was living in Dallas. It was 1992; I had Clinton stickers on my car, as well as animal rights stickers. I pulled into a nursery to buy some plants, and ended up in a shouting match with the owner of the place--he said (and I'm paraphrasing--it has been 15-1/2 years!), "I see your stickers! We don't want YOUR KIND of people here!" So I left. On my way home all I could think about was what did the moron mean, "YOUR KIND" of people? Professionals with high paying jobs? Tax payers? Law abiding citizens? Married people? Parents? People who do volunteer work? People who are ethical consumers and care about animals? What?! :confused: (Of course the idiot was your TYPICAL right-wing, redneck, Republican in Texas...the kind who left nasty notes on my windshield because they didn't like my anti-Bush stickers...)

You know the more i think about Obama's comment "a typical white person" the more it pisses me off! If i as a white guy made a statement with a typical black guy i would be thrown in jail for racist remarks. Before this came out, i just didn't like Obama's politics but now i just hate him. It's a shame someone can make me feel this way. I normally am able to get along with anyone!

Yes!! LOLOL :D:D:D That was awesome! Yeah, maybe, just maybe, his grandma wasn't speaking as a white person, but as a woman.

As for the question, tomorrow this typical white woman will be doing what I typically do on a Friday, which is go to work. Obama is going to be speaking only about a mile from my office -- hope traffic isn't too screwed up.:(
