The apparent Democratic nominee Barack Obama, on the other hand, doesn't have a pet at home.

The pet-owning public seems to have noticed the difference.

An AP-Yahoo! News poll found that pet owners favor McCain over Obama 42 percent to 37 percent, with dog owners particularly in McCain's corner.

"I think a person who owns a pet is a more compassionate person — caring, giving, trustworthy. I like pet owners," said Janet Taylor of Plymouth, Mass.

I can see the next headline:

People who breathe prefer McCain!

and those who don't prefer (and vote) for Obama...

16 cats here, er.... I mean 16 PUMA's. All but 2 were dropped by students going home for the summer. They are EXPENSIVE! I need to go on animal welfare. :)

Now you know why I'm a PUMA!

I have two cats. One of them, Colby, is solid black and he supports McCain/Palin. In fact, he was watching McCain last night deliver his speech. Marbles, the elder one, also is in the McCain camp. :D

i have twelve cats, all mccain supporters, since i control the food. all strays at one time. now all mine. and i also prefer mccain. obama's lack of compassion is evident.

i suppose now that the article is out, obama will bring home a zoo for votes. lol he really does not get it.

i feel sorry for whatever animals he gets because as soon as he loses, under the bus they will go. maybe we had better start a shelter for obama's leftovers now, so they will have a home after the election. :D

I have two pit bulls and its a no brainer, McCain/Palin. My orange tabby cat and German shepard mix decided to go along with the pits.

I once read that the Obamas do not want pets. How could a couple such as the Obama's would not allow their girls to have a pet?
