View Full Version : In a way, this election is one of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed.

All my life, I've only known conservative vs. liberal, oh he is bad because he is on the opposing team, oh blah blah blah Monica Lewinsky, blah blah blah Karl Rove is a magnificant bastard. . .but now, I see something quite different.

George Washington once said that he thought political parties were more of a liability than an asset, and that he wanted America to be party free. How ironic it is that when the country is in the gravest danger it has ever faced that we are the closest to the Founding Father's dreams. No longer has this become a battle of Republican vs. Democrat, conservative vs. liberal. Its now a battle of good vs. evil. I see both Democrats and Republicans joining together to face a common enemy. In a way, if I could die right now, I would be so happy knowing that Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro has joined forces with the likes of Newt Gringilch and Rush Limbaugh. In the same way that this election has shown the worst side of America. . .it has shown the best side of America as well. And if McCain is elected president, he may very well be the best president this country has ever known. All throughout his life, he has been reaching across party lines. So far, this election has been about reaching across party lines. I have no doubt that McCain will live up to his word. Even if Obama wins and destroys everything, I can honestly say that I'll still be happy knowing that even briefly, George Washington's dream has been achieved.

Sorry for wasting space. It won't let me post this in the General Election chat forum, so I posted this here. I'm also sorry if it sounded cheesy. But its what I truly feel.

Moon Child: It is not a waste of space to address the re-balancing of the American heart.

We had come to view one another as rivals, camps. We were blind to the goodness and decency of the other side. In this context, both parties went out to their extremes, Republicans first, with Bush and Cheney, and now, second, the Democrats, with Obama and Biden Dean and Pelosi. Turns out the Republicans are ready to come back to the middle now. They reached out to both the right and to the new--beyond "sides"--with Sarah Palin. Senator McCain is saying: I'll take the brightest and smartest one of YOU I can find, and bring her to Washington because Washington doesn't work. She's his Jimmy Stewart. We'll fix it together, across party lines and across gender. We even go against corrupt Republicans. Country first. Brilliant. Of course Obama has crested on that idea, too - not a blue America, not a red America, etc. - it's just he sounds so 2007 now. :D and "Country first" sounds new. Timing is everything - that's how God plays.
Someone just said McCain might turn out to be the best President ever - he might, and if so it's because he has a woman who is one of US by his side. We are outsiders, together - and it's our country. She speaks to that, as simply as Apple Pie.

Some remain in rival camps that ossified over the past seven years, but those of use who congregate at the middle here to stand for Common Sense, as Thomas Paine put it, are happy to support one another in the re-balancing of our hearts.

Then we'll be ready for Clinton V. Palin 2012. Glory, be! Maybe they can be a team: President Clinton and Vice President Palin. No - I guess that wouldn't work. Co-Presidents. No, that never works. Well, we'll just have to see what God has in mind for - THE GOLDEN CHANGE PARTY.

Ive learned goodness and truth must always win over corruption and hatred, party be damned. It is the tradition and hallmark of America...

When McCain was laying in that hell hole in Hanoi do you think it mattered whether his fellow prisoners were Democrats or Republicans? When true Americans are faced with extremism and vile evil the party line blurs and we come together to do remarkable things.

Sometimes Americans need a shot in the arm like this.

Well said, Moon Child. People coming together for the greater good is always admirable.

Aw, shucks! I'm flattered!

Although I do admit that my writing is a double edged sword. I was told that I wrote like an eleventh grader when I was in sixth grade. Whenever I register on a political site, people think I'm older than I am, so when I say I'm nineteen, they think I'm a troll. I wouldn't be surprised if this is why they banned me on Capital Hill. But I don't care. As long as we're together in spirit.

I can understand your point of view. However, for us Hillary supporters, we have witnessed the worse kind of election fraud during the primary.

In the caucus, we saw the intimidation tactics used on the senior. The old ladies were bullied and blocked from getting into the hall. Obama supporters barged in and took the caucus packaged including the signature sheet away before the caucus started. These are some of the few examples.

If you watch this video, you will see the old ladies telling her experience at the caucus. The campaign, the voters, the volunteers, were all caught off guard because we didn't expect this kind of dirty politic in this great country.

But I'm glad that it forced us to band together to stop Obama from taking the office. How can we trust a president who was a product of a corruption procedure?

That is true, and I find it shameful that the best side of America will only show its face AFTER the ugly part of America reveals itself. Hopefully, we will win this thing.

And thank you. :)

Thank you for your beautiful post. We all found our way to this Forum because of the terrible abuses that we were encountering during the Primary. And no one in the Party or media listened. No one in the Party or media cared. It was due to that that we sought each other out. And out of that anger, and pain and outrage, we are creating something good and powerful. I hope we can all hold principles high and remember that all people are created equal and deserving of the pursuit of happiness. And respect. Imagine if the media had done this to Sarah....and the Republican Party did nothing:

I couldn't watch it past the first three seconds. The line "Women, know your limits" got me really mad.

And I'm grateful that I've found this forum. Just today, we had a provacative discussion on homosexual rights that made me reevaluate my views. I'm now 100% behind the idea of gay marriage. But more important is the battle that we're facing now. If NObama gets elected, then the following would've been in vain:

*The Revolutionary War

*The Civil War

*World War II

*The Cold War

*The War on Terror

ESPECIALLY "The War on Terror". In fact, it would no longer be necessary because we would become the enemy. Obama's a mad man.
