Walked door to door and talked to a lot of nice people.

probably a little over 20 people, here's the break down of my tiny poll

4-5 Republicans voting Rep. all the way down the ticket

6-7 Indies - undecided, leaning Republican

4-5 Dems - voting Obama

The rest wouldn't talk.

Not much news there. But the one thing most of them had in common was their #1 issue - the economy.

So listen up Republicans, if you want Indies and fence sitting Dems to come your way, make sure you talk up the great possibilities we have in the economy, talk up McCain's plan slanted middle of the road and be optimistic. Let's face it, people want to feel good and look to the near future for solutions to their economic problems!

Well done. We would need millions of people like you.
Thanks for your work! :)

I wish I could do more for this GE than just keep sending emails, and never getting any answers anyway. :(

Cool--thanks for the report.

I think the RNC needs to gve the obama "economy killer" tax plan more attention, too. His tax plan willbe the final straw for a weak economy, and then its depression time.

"It's the economy, stupid" was a phrase in American politics widely used during Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign against George H.W. Bush. For a time, Bush was considered unbeatable because of foreign policy developments such as the end of the Cold War and the Persian Gulf War. The phrase, coined by Clinton campaign strategist James Carville, refers to the notion that Clinton was a better choice because Bush had not adequately addressed the economy, which had recently undergone a recession.

In order to keep the campaign on message, Carville hung a sign in Bill Clinton's Little Rock campaign headquarters that said:

1. Change vs. more of the same
2. The economy, stupid
3. Don't forget health care.

McCain used the announcement of Sarah Palin to turn his campaign on a dime. Realizing that the American people do want CHANGE, but a good kind as opposed to "radical leftists terrorist communist" kind, McCain has once again listened to the concerns of the electorate.

If he can, in 2-3 sentences, explain how he will create jobs and provide people with resources for health care, he will win.

PS - And, in the words of Paul Begala and James Carville, repeat that 2-3 sentences every single day until election day.

Can I ask what state you were canvassing in? Was it a swing state?

This election has me spooked because you just showed us it is still a 50/50 chance that Obama will win and the polls pretty much show most of the independents are leaning the BHO way.

One thing I am doing is emphazing how different McCain and Bush are. (For those who haven't been paying attention).

McCain has actually been a thorn in the side of the Republicans many many times in the past. I imagine that with him as the party leader--he will have even more latitude to stand up to them as president. His administration would be much different from that of Reagan and the Bushes.

And his decisions on the war will be much different from W.s--we are going from a draft dodger to a war hero and POW.

Colorado, I've heard it is a swing state and I've heard it's not. So I don't know.

I agree, just look at the new slogan at his website -

Prosperity and Peace - I think it will calm people down.

Exactly. And since Paul Begala and James Carville are staunch HRC supporters, I hope they repeat those 2-3 sentences every day themselves!

I agree. McCain needs more economy solutions. Not just mentioning it, but actually how it can start to be reversed. BHO is all taxes... no solutions! I didn't think universal health care was going to fly without huge amounts of taxes being levied.

Lower Taxes.
Less Government Interference.
Lower Energy Prices.

Lower Taxes allow for more investment back into the economy.
Less Government Interference means businesses can be more productive.
Lower Energy Prices reduces overhead costs like factory power and transportation.

Energy Prices are problematic... There is no quick fix. It'll take about 5 years minimum for Alaskan oil production to enter the market.

But, Japan would authorize a nuclear plant and 3 years later it'd be operating. Nuclear is the most efficient source of power. Its only greenhouse emission is wator-vapor. Clean up is simple and disposal of waste is simple.

Call upon America's great history of doing great things.
