Well, my last CD purchase was "Lifesong" by Casting Crowns. And later today (since it's after 12 on the east coast), I will be purchasing Janet Jackson's "Discipline" and Michael English's "The Prodigal Comes Home." I admit it, I'm a Democrat that loves Contemporary Christian. And given that Janet is in favor of Hillary, she deserves the sale even if "Feedback" wasn't an awesome single!

I like contemporary Christian pop music as well!

I actually liked "feedback" - although I admit it was more like a Britney song than anything else! And I thought the video was cool.

For a much wider selection of digital music you should definitely check out www.emusic.com - contains mostly independent music in digital format. You pay a monthly fee, rather than buy albums/songs individually. You can even take out a free trial and receive 50 free downloads.

Was that because you saw her on "Dancing with the Stars"??

The album was released in the UK/Europe/Australia last year.

Definitely a fan of europop here!

"X" certainly contains some CLASSIC Kylie tracks!

My faves are:

"In My Arms"
"The One"

"All I See"

Kinda sorta. I've been a huge Kylie fan for a long time now. Have most of her CDs. I've been waiting on the US release to give her a sale, even though I have had the songs for some time. But she did a great job on "Dancing With The Stars." Her last outfit was HOT!

It took me forever to find it though here. Most stores aren't carrying it. But it was worth finding.

I love all those songs you listed. "All I See" is becoming a quick favorite for me, though. Great to find another Kylie fan!

Sleater-Kinney is my favorite band, but unfortunately they broke up last year. I think Janet Weiss is one of the most creative, skilled and just all-around rockingest drummers today.

So lately, I've been looking for more stuff with kick-ass drumming. In the past few months I've gotten (on actual CD, not downloaded):

"Real Emotional Trash" by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. This is the band that Janet Weiss joined recently. She doesn't get as crazy as she did with Sleater-Kinney, but still this is a very good CD. I listened to it 3 times today.

"Percussion Bitter Sweet" by Max Roach -- a very good jazz drummer. I think this one's from 1960. Great CD, very intense.

"Led Zeppelin IV". Bonham goes nuts at the end of "Stairway to Heaven" -- 'nuff said. :)

I listen to Christian music mostly. I was very ill in 2001 and ever since I find Christain music is uplifting. I was in a lot of pain for weeks...months and the CDs my daughter bought me helped me through a lot of painful nights. Last time I purchased any...long time ago. But I like other kinds of music too...just do not spend a lot of time listening. My computer is old and I do not do music downloads because it would probably make it crash. LOL

Ok this is going to look bad, but the last song that I purchased from ITunes is Ah Leah, by Donnie Iris (for obvious reasons)
The same purchase I also purchased (more indicative of my tastes) :
:cool:Blue Monday by New Order, and
:cool:Coastal (band) Coastal (Album--purchased songs separately as it was cheaper)
The last Album that is not an audibles.com is.....
:)EfterKlang --- Parades (Album)
Coastal, New Order, EfterKlang are more indicative of my tastes. I rarely listen to rock. I was going to purchase the REM latest album, but listened to it and it is too rock for me, but as I did live in Athens GA will probably eventually purchase it, I wish they would come out for Hillary.
Digital Download all of the above, but usually purchase albums via music store.

Hillary spoke on the compassion forum of seeing through a glass darkly. That is based on 1 Corinthains 13
(New Living Translation)
12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.[c] All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

The following is a favorite song of mine. And I just thought of Hillary as I was thinking of it.

I Will Listen

Hard as it seems,
Standing in dreams,
Where is the dreamer now?
Wonder if I, wanted to try,
Would I remember how?
I don't know the way to go from here.
But I know that I have made my choice.
This is where I stand
Until He moves me on,
And I will listen to His voice.
This is the faith.
Patience to wait,
When there is nothing clear.
Nothing to see,
Still we believe,
Jesus is very near.
I cannot imagine what will come.
But I've already made my choice.
And this is where I stand,
Until He moves me on,
And I will listen to His voice.
Could it be that He is only waiting there to see,
If I will learn to love the dreams that
He has dreamed for me?
Can't imagine what the future holds.
But I've already made my choice,
And this is where I stand,Until He moves me on,
And I will listen to His voice.

Song by Twila Paris.

Also a Bon Jovi fan.

But last CD I purchased (let's see, about a year ago) was Joanne Shenandoah's album titled "Joanne Shenandoah." In case you've not heard of her, she's Oneida-Six Nations Iroquois and has a beautiful voice -- sings some songs in her native Oneida, most in English.

The last CD I bought is a special 2-CD edition of Little Feat - Waiting For Columbus. It's a live album that was a double LP in the first place and then was released as a single CD in the Eighties where they could not fit all songs on a single disc (I think the limit was 74 mins. then). So they left one of my fave songs and edited my favourite track. I owned the CD anyway.

The new double CD is exactly what it should have been in the first place - all songs, a few bonus tracks and a well-written booklet with a background story.

I bought it for 10 EUR at a local BOOKstore which hosts a tiny outlet for www.zweitausendeins.de which is specializing in cheap art books, CDs etc.

Info on the album on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waiting_for_columbus)

the album on amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000631ED/ref=nosim/cagnlace00/)

Little Feat still exists today but for me it's not the same w/o Lowell George (who died in 1979).

Here's a video from German Rockpalast which is where I first saw the band - I really didn't get their musical style back then but I really love it now.

Enjoy!

Most recent purchase is Muse - "The Resistance". Freaking PHENOMENAL CD. Muse manage to mix the most unusual influences into this incredible sound. The new CD has some (very) strong odes to Queen and are also fairly prog rock (as most of Muse's songs are), but they went much more heavily into a classical/orchestral bent this time around. The song "United States Of Eurasia/Collateral Damage" ends with Chopin's "Nocturne No. 2 in E Flat". "I Belong To You (+Mon couer s'ouvre a ta voix)" layers a hip hop beat that Kid Cudi would probably envy underneath Matt Bellamy's flawless falsetto, and leads into Matt singing lines from the opera "Samson and Delilah" in French.

But the most impressive track, in my opinion, is Bellamy's 13 minute, 3 part symphony at the end of the disc. Called the Exogenesis Symphony, they were written entirely by Matt, with traces of Rachmaninoff, Berlioz, Lizst, Debussy, Gershwin, Brecht, etc.

The NY Times called the CD "unapologetically and ambitiously beautiful".

Here's one of their performances for the MTV VMAs this year (and one of my favorite songs on the album):
The Resistance (http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/436090/resistance-live.jhtml#artist=1191782)

Here's a sample of the Exogenesis Symphonies:

"Down in the Park" by Marilyn Manson (originally by Gary Numan)
“Hate it or Love It” by The Game
“Pocket Full of Sunshine” Natasha Bedingfield
"Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga
“Lucretia My Reflection” by Sisters of Mercy
“Icky Thump” by The White Stripes
Now that's quite a mix. Did you put that together yourself?

I don't buy or play CDs anymore, but here's what's rotating as I write this . . .

I like that idea. Here's the next ten songs in my random playlist:

Pearl Jam - Black, Red, Yellow
Cream - Sunshine Of Your Love
Pink Floyd - Cluster One
Blues Traveler - The Hook
Green Day - She's A Rebel
Pink Floyd - Astronomy Domine
String Cheese Incident - Shakin' The Tree
Jack Johnson - Dreams Be Dreams
Ben Harper - Better Way
Pearl Jam - Man Of The Hour

Michael Jackson "Dangerous"
I love the song "Will you be there"

Excellent CD. "Dangerous" is undoubtedly the BEST album EVER produced/written/recorded. (Not just his best album, but THE best album ever.)

Check out MJ's "Invincible", "Blood on the Dancefloor", and "HIStory" CDs.

Anyway...

I just picked up my copy of Mariah Carey's new album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel". It is R&B perfection.

Really?

"Obsessed" is ok...Haven't heard the rest.

I wish she'd drop all the breathy stuff and just sing.

Whatever I can find by Tina Arena when I get to Borders.

You won't find Tina Arena at Borders, other than maybe a rare copy of "Don't Ask" from 1996! She only had one other album that was released in the USA which was "In Deep" around 1998. All of her other albums since then have only been released in Australia (the English language albums) and France (the French language albums).

But you can't get them all on Amazon.com!

"Obsessed" is a poor reflection of the album as a whole. The album has many R&B gems and memorable ballads.

I have to agree though. It seems like the divas that we've loved for so long are gradually losing their vocal abilities due to age and vocal cord nodule development. (Mariah, Whitney). Regardless, both of their new CDs are worth purchasing.

Based on your recommendation, I will check out Mariah's album.

I am still enjoying Whitney's new one!

And the week after next I will be seeing Kylie Minogue (http://www.kylie.com) in concert in NYC as part of her first ever American tour - she's huge everywhere else but the USA.

It's still #1 on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums (http://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-200#/charts/billboard-200) chart too.
