View Full Version : Nationwide House Parties for Hillary! I'm serving cakes from the SUFFRAGE COOKBOOK!

as a working woman and mother I feel my voice is getting lost in the MSM noise. I have concerns about my future and my children's future. I have concerns about national security. This is why I am voting for HRC.
And I am having a House Party to let all my friends and neighbors know.
We could get together with neighbors, friends and sisters in our kitchens and bake. Cakes that are red, white and blue...cakes that are fanciful by our fancier bakers...cupcakes by children......cakes with her picture on them.
I am planning my House Party on Hillary's Official website.
Since the debate is on April 16th I think I'll be serving my Suffrage cake at my House Party on April 16th. And we will watch Hillary talk about the issues that are close to us.

I like your idea. I think it might also get some closed Hillary supporters to come out of the closet and admit they support Hillary.

I thought so too! Because fence sitters would want to join in. Then we have grassroots gatherings where the talk will be about HRC!

I think this a great idea. I would float this over at HRC's main blog as well. Let's start baking!

I just posted it. If we can get an area here on the forum we can start to attract al the bakers from every state.
What weekend? I want to be able for us to contact press.

My response to this idea? I'm hungry! ;)
Baked goodies are a powerful motivator to bring people out. Maybe with each cupcake sold, we could give them a reason to support Hill (we can actually THINK of reasons to support our candidate, unlike certain Obama fans ). Tell them, or have it on a piece of paper. And maybe include a link to her campaign site and other sites including this one.
I think it's a great idea!

Yes, and to have Media at the supermarkets where they know the bakers will be selling their baked goods! All with some Hillary word or phrase or picture.
Most of all it is FUN!
And when women get together and bake we have fun! Everyone loves a bake sale......

IT raises money and awareness. We need to set up tables and be prepared to answer tough questions, too. We must make sure that NORTH CAROLINA is covered. Hillary has to win PA AND THE TOUGH ONE, North Carolina by 70%
abigailadams
03-23-2008, 08:13 PM
Let's get the NC Hillary supporters on line and organize the sale! They should be the first ones we talk to, and Pennsylvania.
Then the other 48............
How about April 12 and 13?
Media needs to be targeted to tell them what supermarkets to go to . Wouldn't it be great to get media on women's kitchens talking to women about their concerns and HRC?
abigailadams
03-23-2008, 08:14 PM
We should start floating answers to the tough questions on line so the bakers online can talk to the bakers offline.

i agree, but frankly i'd yet be happy if she could just win NC doesn't matter by which percentage and i think that would yet be a major success!

Hillary Friendship bread would be a great thing to do too. Start it at home and when you get enough you spread it and collect the money that it generates to the fund? Or just do it, and see how many houses in the US can have the Hillary Friendship bread.

For weeks we have been waiting for one strong idea to motivate participation nationwide.
Jennifer--you are going to move thousands of people to bake and buy and gain a few calories for Hillary.
Make it Angel Food.
Thousands of cakes, pies and cookies if those are your specialties folks.
Get the kids involved. Bring the cakes to work and suck the money from the hungry co-workers. Send it to Hillary.
Take them to construction sites.
Ladies and gents on military bases--get involved. Raise the money without the politics and send the money to Hillary. No one has to know. It's all going to benefit the service men and women when she is President anyway.

I think also using the recipe from 1800 made by the women that came before Hillary would be significant. For every cake bought people get fliers with the 100 reasons to support Hillary and Hillary's website address and http://hillaryspeaksforme.com
Write down the details for the idea and then we can send this to women's organisations and the people at the "PA residents for Hillary" website who are trying to create some kind of event for Hillary.

I think the bake sale is a grand idea. It should gain some media attention and publicity.
(More publicity from the opponent, and media making fun of the bake sales.) But publicity is publicity.
The flier and leaflets also a good idea. Hillary Clinton memorabilia for sale. Buttons given away?
Anything to draw a crowd and attention will help, along with the money brought in.
Maybe every little town and local group could have their own bake sale, a nation wide promotion.. I realize getting the fliers and memorabilia out will take an real effort and especially to get them to all the areas.

Sounds wonderful! I am so glad people are into it! I am going to keep posting to this thread and we will solidify this weekend sale. I have contacted people in PA, too.
I was thinking of the weekend of April 12 and 13.
I found the Suffrage Cookbook from 1886 and there are cake recipes. I am going to make one of those.

Is there anything you can sell online? Ebay? I would say we can even have it based on the remaining primary states favorite treats.;)
abigailadams
03-24-2008, 12:03 AM
Would you be interested in being an online point person? You could figure out a place to sell and a media person in your area who will go to the sales place and cover it for local news.

This is such an EXCELLENT idea! Count me in. I probably have too much on my plate to organize one, but I can help promote.
Also what it would do is get people to buy (and support) who have not been reached by other means.

03-24-2008, 12:13 AM
I never sold anything on ebay but I buy stuff specially those super yummy treats I can no longer find in Central Florida. I am sure there are few super sellers around who know what needs to be done. An idea could be to see if we can find stores that already sell products on-line and see if they would do a one day fund raising with certain percentage being donated to Hillary's campaign.

03-24-2008, 12:22 AM
We need online point people to be the person to let the media know where you are baking and selling. We need as many people in each state. In PA it would be great to have as many point people as Hillary has headquarters. Same in North Carolina.

Of course, any recipe is great; your great grandmother's Cherry Cake Recipe or your Aunt's red Velvet cake.

Hey! I've got an antique cookbook called: "White House Cookbook". I'm not sure of its date of issue. I'll look through it for some "presidential" recipes!
As for eBay, I've sold alot of stuff there. However, I'm not sure about baked goods??????? They may not allow it. I'll check!

Would the bake sale be at community centers or private clubs.
How would this work? I like the idea a lot and don't want to be the one to fly in the pudding but how do we get this past the health ordinances and the fact that somebody might claim someone put something uneatable in their cake or pie or cookies.
I sure do long for the good ole days.

I am looking for someone in IL, WI or Northern IN that is doing a bake sale I am 45 min north of Chicago but willing to bake and travel a little to help someone with a bakesale I just cant host one here without a permit and in my town you need a permit to sell food. I do bake cookies and cakes. My #1 cookie is the neiman marcus cookie that seems to be the most requested Christmas present. I also make a awesome heavenly chocolate pie. If I cant bake for a bake sale I would be glad to share my recipe.
I also sew blankets and sell them and I was thinking of sewing one and selling it with all profits (anything over material cost and shipping/ebay fees) going to the Hillary Clinton campaign I just need to find a nice pattern to make it out of. If anyone would be interested in a blanket send me an email at poeticjusticeman@yahoo.com if I get enough emails to justify setting up an auction I will make a blanket and start up an auction. The blanket would be roughly 50"x60" perhaps a little bigger depending on the pattern I choose. It will be fleece double thick for those cold nights. And just think of cuddling up with it as you watch Hillary win in Nov. Here is a idea of some of my work so let me know http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/DoubleJDirect/Crafts/

House parties, House parties, House parties. Apparently the FEC likes House Parties when it comes to fundraising. I will be on this thread to talk more about our House Parties.
I will be having a House Party on the weekend of April 5 and I will have Cakes Galore. The contribution will be 10 for Hillary.
I am making a cake from the recipe book:
SUFFRAGE COOKBOOK
Recipes compiled by women who fought for the right to vote.
Stay tuned for House Party information on this thread!!

Anyone around the Nashville, TN area? Would love to work with someone on this.
What if we all collaberated and compiled a list of favorite recipes that were sold at the bake sales and put together a National Cookbook for Hillary and sell for campaign dollars? We can give the recipes creative names with some of the solutions that Hillary has proposed and include a Hillary quote on the bottom of each page. And maybe include pictures of her from the campaign trail. I know I would pay top dollar for something like that!
Also, what do you think of the idea of downloading and burning to disc one of Hillary's great speeches or town halls and passing those out to people who are undecided? They can pop it into their CD player in their car and be a Hillary supporter by the time they get home! :)

Post your recipe here! This is a good place to share. Remember, it's House Parties with lots of CAKES!

I love the idea of calling it a "suffrage cake"! Maybe Floridians and Michigonians (sp?) should do this, then dress up like suffragists, carry signs about wanting the right to vote (for Hillary) and march to a dedicated space where they can sell pieces of suffrage cake. :D

Jennlee, I think that's a great idea! It's a civilised way to conduct the campaign. What better way then to sit down and talk things over cake and a cup of tea.
Brilliant!
The Obama cult is out spewing hatred and venom at every opportunity!
Meanwhile here we have a supporter wanting to make cakes to raise money for Hillary!
Could the contrast be anymore striking?

I like the weekend because most people have two jobs and it is during the weekend they have a rest. You could reach more people that way. Kids could also participate.
Is it realy illegal if someone baked bakes or muffins and took them to like a firestations and sell them to firemen and women or to co-workers?

This is the thing:
A campaign person told me that Bake Sales are difficult for giving the money to the campaign because of the FEC (Not sure of details on this). The Campaign person said the campaign is encouraging House Parties.
I figured I could encourage people having house parties where cakes are brought and shared. That way we have a Bake Sale, sort of.
Then, we can all take pictures of our creative Hillarycakes and post them online on Flickr.
By the time she is the nominee we can make it common practice to have the bake Parties.
I would like to have these Cake House Parties over two weekends so lots of people have a chance to have a party.
How about the two weekends prior to the April 22 primary?
Can we spread this idea over many states?

Found this link of holidays...some crazy...but everyone likes to celebrate with a cake. April happens to be Keep America Beautiful month, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Garden Month and there are others to choose from. Also some crazy ones such as National Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Day on April 20. :D If there is an area that won't let a bake sell happen for politics, you can always put up a sign to celebrate something else. They can't keep you from giving out buttons or stickers with Hillary on them. And signs celebrating something might help those who feel uncomfortable with going to an area with political fundraising.
You can search for holidays in other months at this website if you are interested.
