View Full Version : Obama & "The View" - Demand Equal Time for Hillary, Contact Them!

Obama's going to be on The View Friday, March 28. It's an ABC daytime talk show with millions of viewers, mostly women. It's a huge audience and they have been supportive of Hillary as well as Obama. Sherri Shepphard, an African American woman and the newest co-host, voted for Hillary in the primary.

WE HAVE TO WRITE AND DEMAND EQUAL TIME FOR HILLARY!!!!

Barbara Walters is the host and exec producer. ABC News, Barbara Walters, 2020@abc.com

This is a travesty. All the free time Obama's getting is patently unfair. Anderson Cooper goes on the road with him. Larry King features him for the entire hour. His speech is shown in its entirety. He's the focus of almost every political news feature, network and cable, and both routinely give him more time than Hillary. Also just heard that Keith Olbermann is going to be given an NBC primetime special slot. You know how HE feels about Hillary. I can just see it coming.

Oh, and yeah, how about this? Is Condoleezza Rice now going to call Hillary and McCain to personally apologize for the passport breach as she did Obama?

OK, JUST EMAILED THEM ABOUT THIS AND TO PARAPHRASE I SAID I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE AS A WOMAN THAT THEY AS WOMEN WOULD DEFINITELY MAKE SURE THAT HILLARY WOULD RECEIVE EQUAL AIRTIME AS OBAMA. I ALSO SAID THAT THEY AS WOMEN COULD SEE THE DISREGARD AND UTTER DISRESPECT THAT HILLARY HAS RECEIVED FROM HER MALE CONSTITUANTS THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE CAMPAIGN AND THAT THEY WOULD MAKE SURE TO GIVE THEM BOTH EQUAL AND FAIR TIME. I ENDED IT BY SAYING OK GOOD JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND OF COURSE GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!:D:D:D

Larry King said Clinton is always welcome! Think she should? I kinda do! Anderson will do the same for Clinton and just call him and heard that.Obama has been on all day and really noticing it. Show her speeches and it's seriously one sided and especially today! Thanks !

I have written to all the MSM and Barbara Walters requesting that they extend the offer to Senator Clinton to appear on their shows.

Hillary may decline, but that is her choice and that's all right as long as they offer her equal time.

I'm glad that CNN has extended that offer.

She may very well accept as she could use the free press right now and deserves it.

But, she may prefer to pour her resources into her Campaign rather than make the news circuit. That, in her opinion, may be time better spent.

But, it is imperative that they make the offer to her.

Let her solidify her huge lead in PA and let Obama try to weasel out of his little self-inflicted trap right now.

Is Whoopi still for Hillary?

She voted for her, but let's see what happens on The View. I think ultimately she is. Her reasons were based on outsourcing of jobs and Hillary met her threshold first.

I hope she will stand by her convictions.

Obama's next target - women.

How ANY woman could vote for this man is beyond my comprehension !!!

How ANY woman could forgive this man for blatantaly using his male privilege to try and elevate his candidacy over Hillary Clinton's is beyond me.

How ANY woman could forgive this man for dismissing Hillary Clinton's years of public service experience and presenting her as an old "has been" is beyond me.

Obama is sexist to core and a vote for him is a vote for sexism.

Hillary is very good at using the media for her advantage, given the fact that they have been against her. Be it her great Town Hall Across America on Hallmark on Monday before Super Tuesday, or her Texas-Sized Town Hall right before Super Tuesday II, or her appearance with Jon Stewart that night as well. I credit them for turning the media into an advantage in spite of an obvious disadvantage. I'm sure she'll use all the outlets she needs very soon, probably before PA and then again before NC and IN.

I wrote a suggestion to Hillary campaign that she appear on The View before Pennsylvania. You know the The View will want her! But timing is everything and I know if she does it ...the timing will be decided upon. I think she needs to do somethings to as the media gives her little air time.

I was wondering the same thing. (if Condoleeza would call Hillary and apologize about passport breech).
I was wondering what oblahblah was thinking when his aid told him he had a call from Condoleeza Rice!!! I doubt she has his private cell. After all Rev. ( I am using the title loosely) Wrong called her Codoskeeza and Condamnesia!! But believe me a "skeez" is a bad and sexist statment!! Oblahblah was probably praying for real, "please God don't let her ask about the Condoskeeza comment, after all I wasn't in church that day" "I can't be held accountable for the grumpy but otherwise sweet ol' man!!!".

The View has become the place where if you are white you have to watch every word but if you are black anything goes and that's basically what Whoopi Goldberg said last week to admonish her white co-hosts. I sent an email to Bill Geddy telling him that I was offended and would not watch it any longer! I also mentioned Oprah's hypocrisy and Tracy Morgan's calling Hillary bitch on SNL 3/14. Please stop watching MSNBC, especially Olberman who might as well come out and say he is an Obama's supporter!

We need to get the numbers that we have here sent to the view that shows Hillary can win! Also Obama is going to be on Friday and they need to ask him some real questions! The View was not good for Hillary. Talked about her stepping down, etc. Also lots of excuses and lets understand Obama's church. Whoopi talks about older Blacks have lots of anger. But does not talk about all the young blacks in congregation cheering and clapping...Damn America.

I just fired off a long, angry email. I hope everyone else will as well. It was appalling. Joy Behar all but called for Hillary to drop out, and she did it very emphatically. I'm furious. I've been watching that freaking show since it started.

I brought up Michigan and Florida, which Joy didn't bother to mention in her argument. Plus, I asked for equal time for Hillary to explain why she SHOULDN'T quit.

Please, people, whatever you think of the show, remember that it has a huge audience, mostly women. It dwarfs CNN and all the news outlets.

I just hope other viewers were as outraged as I was.

My letter to the view:

I am extremely angry with joy's remarks today. she all but called for Hillary to step down. I see many problems with that.

1. Joy is a COMIC not a political expert and NOT a campaign advisor. She should think about that one.

2. Niether candidate will have enough delegates to decide the race regardless this WILL come down to the super delegates eith way the chips fall.

3> There are 10 states that have yet to vote. The race is closer than you think and why should she give up when her momentum has been steadily building since march 4th?

4. It would NOT be for the good of the party to quit now because Obama CANNOT WIN IN NOVEMBER! If we want another 4 years of Bush well then go ahead and tell Hillary to quit.

5. This man has consistantly proved that he is fatally flawed and if you think the GOP will not swift boat the H@#$ out of him with all this stuff in the GE then your naive and misguided.

6. You have had Obama on already and now again on friday. When are you going to be fair and un-biased and have Hillary on?

7. Will you actually ask him ANY hard questions or just fluff and puff? I'm so sick o him getting a free pass and I thought you guys were different but I'm a second away from boycotting your show and all their sponsors LOUDLY!

8. If I hear one more time anybody trying to defend Rev. Wright or that church i will puke! I don't care what joy says racist is when y ou hold beliefs that one race is better than another regardless of which race. This man spews Hatred, Racism, Anti-Americanisim, Anti-Semitisim and sepratist crap! Call him what he is!

I don't care if BO wants to be "friends" with him but to go to his church for 20 years listening to that crap anis spirituleentor is another thing entirely.
There are many, many things about Obama that the media has been mostley ignoring but the republicans WILL NOT BE SO NICE IN THE GE. They play nice now because they love to watch the fighting and they are gaining amo for november. They WANT Obama to get the nomination because theycan beat him. They are terrified of hillary because she will win!

Oh and one more thing. Hillary won Florida and Michigan and all the other BIG states so far except Illinois. Florida and michigan will be seated eventually and then the voters will really have their say.

I’m outraged by the comments made on the View today.
The presidential race is not going to be decided by the media and especially not by joy Behar.
It’s fundamentally wrong when people like Joy decide to take public position and use their exposure to influence the race .10 more states are still about to vote and It is wrong, it is unfair, and it’s deliberate attempt to deceive the American people without making a fact checks.
I stopped watching Oprah months ago, now I’m going to give up television all together.
I’m going to get an ulcer or something, all this attacks and unfair treatment have made me irritable and frustrated that sometimes I don’t know what to do with myself.
Anyway I just send them a long complain and everyone should do the same.

I wrote the viiew and this is what I said

If your having Obama on you need to ask him about his interview with the Tribune and Suntimes where he admits he is closer to Rezko than he admited before and how Rezko contributed more than he admited. Also he needs to be ask about his Church since his new Rev is spewing the same hate that Rev Wright was caught doing. Also ask him about his "Typical White Person" comment. It seems there is alot of Kool-Aide going on on the View.

I know how you feel. I have never been so upset on a daily basis! But I realized I had to turn off the TV 'cause it was just making me sick. In doing so, I discovered there are a lot of grown ups not watching all this crap that we do. They get snipets of news here and there. That's a good and bad thing. Good that they don't hear all the biased media and their junk commentary; but bad because they hear snipets of the likes of Joy Behar who herself doesn't get it - or doesn't have the time to get it. That is why I continue the conversation outside this computer!
Recently, my child's guitar teacher (college kid) told me that he noticed since January, either Hillary, Obama or McCain have been on the cover of Time magazine. So I challenged him to find out whether on that cover, when Hillary is the main, is there a small picture of Obama too? And is it the same vis a vis? I also challenged him to check inside the issue and do a ratio of how many articles are pro-Hillary v. pro-Obama and anti-Hillary/Obama. He got what I was implying. At least that got him thinking that he should challenge the fairness of the media. I'll let you know when he reports back!

Barbara Walters will never ever say what she thinks - she keeps apolitical. Frankly the View has a distorted view and has had for quite some time. The Producer appears to be Republican - hence the Elizabeth. Also Whoope was for Hillary but the day after that Wright scandal broke for some reason she wasn't on the View - sick? Afraid? I suspect she has been gotten too - the other black lady on the View is definitely for Barak - typical kind of Koolaid non funny comedienne. The View has lost a big audience when Rosie O'Donnell quit and they are trying to get the black audience now. Rosie is for Hil as is that other bastion of lower and middle class blue color workers - Roseanne Barr. Two really talented ladies.

It was a bit of a stretch for me to write to them, because I actually stopped watching after Rosie left. (I was HIGHLY pissed at what happened with her, so I quit watching!) So I had to lie and pretend like I'm still a viewer in order to say I'll STOP watching. Anyway, here's the best I could do:

"Unless you're planning to give equal time to Hillary Clinton--since you apparently have no problem catering to Obama (the racist, anti-American, Obama)--you can count me, my family, my friends in real life and online, as FORMER viewers. We are disgusted by your pro-Obama slant and disappointed that you feel fine promoting a racist, anti-American MALE candidate instead of the vastly more qualified, more ethical FEMALE, Hillary Clinton. Shame on Obama and shame on you..."

Based on my quick research, Barbara Walters is most definitely biased towards Obama.

Barbara Walters is powerful - #75 on Forbes. She runs the show .. literally as she is "a co-owner (with ABC) and co-executive producer" of the show" (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_View)

Go to http://opensecrets.org/indivs/index.asp and search for donors for obama who work at abc:
RENFROE, MICHAEL, NEW YORK,NY 10128 ABC/BARBARA WALTERS/HAIRDRESSER has donated 3 x $250 = $750 to Obama

Anne Sweeney is powerful and is Walters' boss/friend.

"When I have a problem that has to be solved or a situation that is uncomfortable, I know that if I need her, Anne will be there for me as she is for others," Walters says. source: http://siggraphnews.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=316910

Barbara Walters and Anne Sweeney: NEW YORK - FEBRUARY 25: Co-Chair of Disney Media Networks and President of the Disney Television Group Anne Sweeney (L) and television host Barbara Walters attend the Broadcasters Foundation Of America "Golden Mike" Fundraiser at the Waldorf Astoria February 25, 2008 in New York City. (Photo by Brad Barket/Getty Images)

Anne Sweeney is higher than Oprah on this list "Disney Studio Head Tops Most Powerful Women List" (source: http://buzzsugar.com/856684)

Anne Sweeney and Maria Shriver (publicaly endorsed Obama) are friends!
"I never see her stressed out," says her friend Maria Shriver, the first lady of California. "I never see her snap at anyone, never see her wear her job. She's unbelievably even-keeled." (source: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200411/pappu). photo of anne sweeney + maria shriver is here: http://coryoconnor.livejournal.com/

--------------------
Barbara Walters, the journalist on the panel, conceded Obama’s Reverend Wright relationship was "disturbing,"but called Obama a "uniter" "soaring above racism." She added that in Obama’s speech, she hopes he "puts some of it to rest, that we can go beyond it and find out what’s good for this country."
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/justin-mccarthy/2008/03/18/joy-behar-excuses-obamas-wright-relationship

Are Reverend Wright’s anti-American sermons simply taken out of context? According to "View" co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters they are. Sherri Shepherd first made excuses for Wright claiming "he suffered racism full force,"and then added viewers are not getting the full context and any of "The View" co-hosts could be tagged as racist with a sound bite.

Barbara Tells Hillary: "Drop It Already"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/11/barbara-tells-hillary-d_n_86041.html

Joy Behar said that the question is whether Barack should be tainted by another man’s words. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that he has attended his church for 20 years and made an analogy to doing push-ups for 20 years that I didn’t quite understand. Sherri Shepherd said that everybody has someone in their family that is crazy. Elisabeth said that she went to a church and didn’t like what they did, so she left, and that is Barack should have done. Joy Behar said that her family is Catholic and remains faithful to the church despite the pedophilia scandal. Elisabeth said that Mitt Romney was under a microscope for being Mormon, so they should examine Obama as closely. Barbara said that Obama is a good man and what started as the most inspiring race, is now separating on racial lines. Sherri doesn’t like that this issue is being so divisive and he is being criticized for what someone else said.
http://www.watchingtheview.com/the-view-march-18th-recap-angela-bassett-and-judy-greer/

Whoopi thought that Barack Obama’s speech on race last week was “magnificent.” She understands why Obama has not distanced himself from Rev. Wright, the person. She is still friends with Newt Gingrich, even thought they disagree politically. She also pointed out that there are white preachers who say outrageous things and people are saying they should distance themselves from them. Elisabeth said that they disagree on the issue because she would never stay with someone who is a racist.

It's the third time I've written. The first two were factual. This time I tried an emotional appeal. We'll see.

Here's the comment: Are you actually going to ask Obama any hard questions on Friday or are you going to flirt and slobber all over him like the rest of the media? For a panel of distinguished women with the first opportunity in history to have an eminently qualified woman like Hillary with a work ethic and dedication to meaningful causes like no other, I'm deeply disppointed at the lack of fair play, not to mention support, on this show.

Why aren't you proud of her??????????

I've watched The View since the first season, and I've always been a staunch supporter of the show, but I'm deeply disillusioned with the things I've been hearing the last few days, I simply will not watch in the future if you let me and millions of other women--and Hillary supporters--down on Friday.

Okay but we have!

We have progressed as long as we know it and do something more about it.

So let's keep going and working for Hillary any way we can!

It is more important now than ever before. We are working for us all, whether female 'typical supporters' of Hillary or even those other female supporters of Barak H Obama. They also will turn around when they wake up from their Koolaid induced stuper. Sooner rather than later.

The lovely black lady on Lou Dobbs was quite angry regarding Obama's church and said not all black churches have such hatred connected to them. I don't know what her name is or what her position is regarding who she is voting for but she seemed cool.
