Prominent Clinton backer and DNC member to endorse McCain
Posted: 10:07 PM ET
From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.
The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.
Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.
In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”
Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

I think so too. She's a major Democratic party heavyweight. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision, but she was well aware of the roll call situation. I'm sure that sent her over the edge.

Yaaaaaahoooooo! I LOVE THIS LADY!! For newbies, she is one of the most influencial women in the WORLD! She's richer than rich and she is one hell of a fair player. She backed Hillary all of the way, including to the Dem Convention. Well, she gave the DNC their last chance, and they blew it.
When you think of air waves--cell phones, satelites, wireless--think of Lady Rothschild. She is a communications queen.
I don't think Hillary will ever lose her friendship, after all, Hillary's brother, and I'm guessing her own mother will be voting McCain. So, I think my heart of hearts, that most likely Bill and Hillary will be voting McCain.
While searching for the interview she had with Fox's Neil Cavuto at the Un-Democratic Convention (which I have NOT found yet), I found this: Forward to 1:55-2:19. This is where she says this quote. Made me giggle.

Mr. O,Poverty has never been poor. Oh yeah, Dreams of My Father he states that he had to eat soups out of the can. Wow! How many Rich Boys learn to cook and budget their food after they have been spoiled?
Really, Obama is the Cult of Personality. People need to get a whiff of why he voted for FISA: Axelrod's clients are ATT&T and other communications corporate clients. FISA was designed especially to protect AT&T from being sued for Illegally Wiretapping the phones of citizens.

Some boards that I frequent that veer left are playing the elitist card. Samples:I'm starting to wonder if 'elitist' is the new 'uppity'.There's also a problem with people thinking that a President of the US should not be a member of the elite. An ordinary guy really would not be up to the job.
I get the sense that they think, 'Well, she's elitist, where does she get off telling us'. I don't think they realize she was a member (maybe still is) of the DNC.

Top Clinton fundraiser backing McCain, not Obama
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) - John McCain's campaign says the Republican is picking up the support of a top Hillary Clinton fundraiser and member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee.
Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans.
Rothschild is a member of the DNC's Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York. She was one of Clinton's top fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 for her presidential campaign. She built a multimillion-dollar telecommunications company before marrying international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.
Rothschild plans to announce her support for McCain on Wednesday in Washington.

Trust is the operative word here- that is how we elect a president. No trust, no vote.
For us New Yorkers following the crisis on Wall Street and who remember Irving Trust's (now part of Bank of NY) classic advertising campaign, "Trust is our last name, but you can call us Irving", we know that is what Obama is lacking.

Sooner or later the males in the Democratic Party are going to realize that it is them against the radical feminists. Apparently, Dems could not say they did not want the shrill radical feminist Hillary…without punishment.
Half the Democrats would sooner be killed than to have allowed Hillary to win the nomination….yet her supporters still think that she can come back in 2012 if they only destroy Obama this year.
She will not win in 2012. The Obama supporters from this year will remember the sick and twisted way she stabbed them in the back in the general in 2008…or at least I would think that way if I were a Democrat Obama supporter.
What scares me is that these feminists now control McCain and the Republican Party because they are considered the swing vote. They are a huge swing vote.
American men are stupid to allow a situation where two parties dominate and the swing vote are radical feminists who will get what they want in terms of new legislation no matter what happens.

But Clinton did offer a reaction to the Rothschild defection, by way of spokeswoman Kathleen Strand.
"Senator Clinton disagrees with her decision," Strand said. "And she will continue to talk to her supporters about what is at stake and making the point that this critical election is not about who anyone is for -- it's about who is for the American people. And the answer is Barack Obama and Joe Biden."

Ms.Rothschild was on Neil Cavuto show earlier today. Neil asked her if she has discussed her endorsment with Hillary Clinton and she said "Of course NOT." It was an emphatic No. But she moved onto why she is endorsing McCain. The times are tough and McCain has the ability and credibility to handle tough times and take on tough interests. Obama has not proven ability to take on tough interests. She trusts McCain to lead the country in these tough times.
She was VERY logical, very assertive, emphatic and clear on what she is doing and why. Very self-aware person. I really like her and am very glad she has spoken up on a critically important day.

I hope Lynn speaks up more about the democratic party.........I am not at odds with her
statement "I am sick and tired of the Dem. Party using the choice issue as a noose around women's neck". I am with her on centrist change, and biparitisanship.
I think the problem is that the party, and even groups like NOW, have become insititutions, & they think they are more important that we the people. They are the decision makers, not the people.
It really gets under my skin, because it is "we the people" who fought for them, and made them, and who lived by them. We are at crossroads with them, because they didn't listen to the people, they don't care about the people. Until they tumble down they will continue to be a self-serving institutions.

Today, Rothschild offered a written statement, circulated by the McCain campaign, saying "In an election as important at this, we must choose the candidate who has a proven record of bipartisanship and reforming government, and that's John McCain. We can't afford a president who lacks experience and judgment and has never crossed party lines to work for meaningful reform."
