Rush Limbaugh, featured in a new, Spanish-language Barack Obama ad, says the commercial distorts his past statements and amounts to "race-baiting" by the Democratic nominee.
The commercial, to air in Limbaugh's home state of Florida as well as Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada, features a picture of the conservative talk show host and shows his words on the screen: "Mexicans are stupid and unqualified" and "Shut your mouth or get out." It was first reported by the Washington Post's Ed O'Keefe.
"Obama is now stoking racism in the country," Limbaugh wrote in an email. "Obama is a disgrace - he wants the public to think he is Mr. Nice Guy while his thugs are in Alaska looking for dirt on Palin and he runs race-baiting ads and lies about what he has done and what McCain has done."
As for the quotes, Limbaugh said they were taken out of context.
The first, "stupid and unqualified," is from the NAFTA debate of the mid-90s, he recalled. He didn't specify how it was distorted, but said he and his staff were researching the context.
On "shut your mouth," Limbaugh produced an April 2006 transcript from what he described as a parody of Mexican immigration laws.
The talk show host read a list of stringent rules, adding "shut your mouth and get out," before revealing to listeners that the guidelines were those set by the Mexican government for immigrants.

*sigh*
Obama said that Rush and Lou Dobbs are responsible for the increase in crime among Latinos. Lou ripped him a new one. I suppose he didn't know Lou's wife is Mexican. So one pundit and one radio show host have the power to increase crime:rolleyes:
Nor did Obama check to see that crime among Latinos has actually decreased.
The man is a disgrace.

Ho hummm ho hummm the race card again. I have to say this again that as a black person I am sick of the race card. I know that man is playing a race card on everyone who disagrees with him. To you Republicans who do not know what went on during the Primary let me explain to you what happened. If you were black and supported Hillary Clinton you were called names and threatened. This happened to politicans and voters. This man is very racist. Remember that so if you get called a racist remember that it is Obama who is the racist. I always "remind" black people that it is in fact racist to assume that all white people are "racist".
I think we need to call him a sexist more. He has completely turned my best friend who was a Hillary supporter and was leaning Obama into a McCain supporter lol. This is major news but she told me she is no longer proud of him. The reason why is because of Sarah and Obama's sexism.

Obama gets at best a one minute ad to put this forth...Rush gets 15 hours a week with 20 million listeners to point out everything that is wrong with Obama. I almost feel sorry for him.

Divisive campaign.
Obama is going after the Hispanic voters the same way he went after the Black voters. He uses the race card!
Obama is willing to divide this country and create the mistrust among the various communities so he will win the election.
Bush is not a good leader but he is a good man. Obama is outright dangerous because he is not good man. He doesn't deserve to be the President.

It makes sense in a strange sort of way.
Look at how thin-skinned Obama is.
He couldn't help himself - he had to flip the bird when he mentioned Hillary after she kicked his can in a debate.
He couldn't stand it- she got under his skin.
Palin has been under his skin.
Rush has been on Obama's case non-stop.
It makes perfect sense he would become a target from the Obama thugs.

I remember hearing that episode of Rush when he talked about the Mexican immigration laws. It was based off of an email that was going around at the time, which said the following:
This is a "must read", all the way through !!!
1. If you migrate to this county, you must speak the native language
2. You have to be a professional or an investor. No unskilled workers
allowed.
3. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no
special ballots for elections, all government business will be
conducted in our language.
4. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they
are here.
5 Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.
6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no
food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs.
7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount
equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
8. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT
options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront property.
That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
9. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign
flag, no political organizing, no badmouthing our president or his
policies, if you do you will be sent home.
10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down
and sent straight to jail.
Harsh, you say? The above laws belong to the immigration laws of
MEXICO!
After listing #10 but before revealing that it was in fact Mexico's immigration policies, he had a line like (paraphrasing here) "Those are the rules, and if you don't like them, you can shut up or get out of the country! Now, that all sounds pretty harsh, right? Well, those aren't proposals being made for America, they are in fact already the law of the land... in Mexico!" The point was to show the hypocrisy of the illegal aliens who were at the time marching in American streets waving Mexican flags and saying how unfair America is to its illegal aliens and immigrants... all while Mexico is far harsher to any immigrants to its own country! So that quote is completely and totally out of context!

I can empathize with you. While I am of mixed white and native american heritage, I am the pale Irish looking one of the family, with my father and brother showing more of our Cherokee blood. A few times they had issues because they looked Hispanic. I am not trying to sound like a cliche, but my best friends growing up in California were a group of us, one white, one black, one Hispanic, and one of Hawaiian ancestry. When I joined the Army, my best friend in basic, who was also at my first duty station was black. When I was re-assigned stateside, my best friend was a gay black soldier. At all those times, race did not matter at all. But, because I am a conservative, some people have assumed I am both racist and homophobic.
I remember some of the comments about Condi Rice and Colin Powell, that were calling them Uncle Tom's or worse, just because they were conservative. Instead of celebrating the fact that these two highly accomplished people attained the position of Secretary of State, because they are conservative, they are considered persona non grata. It is a shame, because I truly believe in what Reverend King said "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Speaking of ads, Fox & Friends just "discovered" that McCain WAS telling the truth in the ad about Obama and sex and the kindergarteners. Hopefully, this will filter up today.
I have to say that I'm getting very tired of Obama taking tape, chopping it up to use sound bites to make his ads. This *should* blow up in his face, but he's counting on being able to get away with it since FOX was easy on him and falling for his lies.

I have never been a fan of Rush, seemed too far to the right and always bashing the dems, but he is spot on with assesment of O-Bama. The obama loons have no idea what a can of worms they have just opened!!! Limbaugh will go after them with a vengence and he will not stop and he will come up with the true facts, whatever we think of him, he does the research and millions of people listen!! The closer to Nov the more desperate O-Bama becomes and just keeps sticking his foot in the mouth - This crap is what will sink him - Rush is not John Mcain and has all the time in the world to fight back and show O-Bama for the liar he is!!!!

I have heard the theory that the idea was to make a ludicrous advertisement, linking Rush and McCain (who have never been that close) and ascribing views which are more extreme than Rush's and the opposite of McCain's to both of them. The point was to draw McCain into an angry response, because the Obama people believe he has a terrible temper, and also because they know Republicans were not happy with McCain's immigration stances. If they could get McCain to blow up and talk about his feelings on immigration it might hurt him with independents and his base.
That sounds a little too contrived to me, but I just wanted to throw it out there. Also, I think that the media has picked it up a bit, it wasn't a widely seen ad, and Rush is screaming about it, so McCain can sort of bat it away.

Guys, I think a reality check is in order here. If you think Rush is going to be the savior to bring all BO's crap out into the open, I think you're sadly mistaken. He is ultra right wing, and that is his audience - people that wouldn't be caught dead even *considering* voting for BOzo. I've managed to live 55 years without hearing a total paragraph out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth. No Democrat would listen to anything he has to say. The only hope of that is if any of it gets into the MSM, and that's a long shot.
Rush is preaching to the choir.

You are so very wrong on this one. Were you surprised at the treatment of Hillary by the MSM? If you were then you discovered something you did not know or believe before. Thinking Rush's audience is ultra right wing is the same mistake. I would recommend you do a little research on his audience statistics provided by independent companies that do that type of research for advertisers...

If Rush would stop saying "Pelosi and democrats" or "Obama and Democrats", or "Reid and democrats" I could tolerate him better. I HATE when he villianizes ALL democrats when he should just be speaking about that specific democrat. That gets me upset and then I have to turn him off.
I may have switched parties to make a statement, but I'm still a democrat at heart, regardless of what's on paper. It really hurts my feelings and I take it personal when Rush or any right wing pundit attacks all democrats for the acts of a few rogue usurpers. I take it quite personal.

I agree, here we go again! And, it happened to Hispanics (Latinos). I live in Texas, and we were harassed as being stupid, dumb, ignorant, and of course... RACIST. Back in early January, BO's Spanish-language ads in Nevada against Hillary -- ALL they did was stoke the race card and the FEAR CARD -- EXACTLY what BO is doing now! His horrible ads in the Primary were against Hillary -- threatening Latinos that Hillary was going to take away their VOTING RIGHTS! They were pathetic, sick, disgusting LIES!
This is BO's m.o. -- this is what he does... stoke the race card. When you disagree with him, it's simple -- YOU ARE A RACIST. This is NOT going to get any better, folks.

joey -- McCain better get on with it ASAP or he will be losing folks. BO is gaining ground in New Mexico, CO and FL. If he doesn't address BO and the race card soon -- and, I mean address it across the board, then he could lose valuable voters in key, swing states. I hope that Mc attacks this and nips it in the bud! The Clintons suffered TREMENDOUS damage to their reputations as being racists because of BO, Jesse Jackson, Jr., and Clyburn. And, it's going to take a LONG time to heal those wounds --the wounds that ultimately did Hillary in, in the South among AAs.

Vinnster, no denying he makes his case and DOES use provable, documented facts! I have no argument with Rush there. I just feel 'attacked' at times when he speaks about a particular democrat and follows it with 'and democrats.' As if we're all like that and we all approve of treason and thuggary. We don't! In fact, the majority of us are quite moderate and strongly dislike the far left. Most dems are in the middle with even a few conservative leanings and also a few liberal leanings. I am quite conservative when it comes to defense. I'm closer to republicans in that area as well as fiscally. I'm more liberal socially speaking and moderate on all the other issues. Many, many, many of us fit this profile. Rush would have everyone believe we are all in support of Pelosi and Brazile and we are all programmed like them as well. If he would stop that, I'd be happy to hear more of what he has to say. :)

I do understand your frustration, but first and foremost you have to understand Rush is a ENTERTAINER/BUSINESSMAN first and a political commentator second. No question what he says he believes, but what makes him so successful is his delivery, and part of that delivery is to capture listeners who agree with him or disagree with him. As I alluded to the statistics of his listeners show the MAJORITY are not ultra right wing. They are like you and me.
I am a Conservative/Libertarian/Vegetarian and I disagree with him on several issues...one being animal rights and hunting. When he does his animal rights updates ( for those who have never listened, they are usually comical parodies that poke fun at animal rights folks) I turn the channel.
To clarify my position on hunting...First I support the second amendment and I carry a concealed weapon. My personal beliefs are guns are for shooting targets, bad people and animals when they are a danger to people. Hunting is a sport ...where people kill for fun. The exceptions are peoples who depend on animals for food, indigenous peoples who have to hunt to survive. That does not include the person who "kills for fun".
I imagine just about every normal person in America is appalled at dog fighting such as the type Michel Vick was involved in. Why? Because of the horror an animal experiences as it slowly dies a horrific death. With hunting, the hunter does not aim for the brain and make that perfect shot that in essence kills the animal like flipping a switch. Generally they go for the chest with hopes of hitting the heart or lungs.
When they take that shot the animals brain is alive for up to ten minutes and that animal experiences the same terror and horror that fighting dogs experience. They can still see, hear and feel pain. Note: Humans are the same except the brain dies faster. I have been present when humans have died and would like to inform folks if you are ever in this position, as best you can maintain your composer and understand immediately after a person ceases to breath they too can still hear, and feel pain. If possible hold them, tell them you are there with them, comfort them as they pass and do not say the words "they' re dead". Just last week I had the unfortunate position of finding my neighbors dogs had just been run over and he was still alive, but his injuries were going to be fatal. In less than a minute the owner arrived and was hysterical asking what can WE do. I told him to calm down and to sit and quietly let the dog pass all the while he was holding him and talking to him.
So I do not agree with Rush on everything and he says stuff that I strongly disagree with, but he is not attacking you or me. He is an entertainer that has parts of his show we do not like. Look at it from that perspective and it will help keep your blood pressure down..

joey -- McCain better get on with it ASAP or he will be losing folks.
I think McCain's on this... http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/18/obama-ads-linking-mccain-to-rush-limbaugh-stir-controversy/
The McCain camp slammed the “Dos Caras” ads on Thursday.
“”It is offensive and dishonest for Barack Obama to lie about John McCain’s record on immigration and years of support for the Hispanic community, when it was Barack Obama himself who voted for ‘poison pill’ amendments that killed the effort at immigration reform. Instead of making false ads with baseless attacks, Barack Obama should be apologizing to the Latino community,” said Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, a Cuban-American lawmaker from Florida.

Rush is preaching to the choir.
It appears some of the Obots are listening because they phone in and say the strangest things.
One guy called today and claimed he wasn't voting for McCain because McCain broke after 4 years of torture - giving up information.

I am a Conservative/Libertarian/Vegetarian and I disagree with him on several issues...one being animal rights and hunting. When he does his animal rights updates ( for those who have never listened, they are usually comical parodies that poke fun at animal rights folks) I turn the channel.
I turn the channel when he criticizes the pope (back when JPII called for a worldwide fast for peace)

And didn't Rush spend the better part of last year blasting McCain?
Yes, but most of all he was furious with the media.
He believes the media decided who the republican nominee would be and skewed coverage in favor of McCain.
This is when Rush came up with "Operation Chaos".
He figured it was time for a little turnabout.
If the media could interfere in the republican process - why couldn't he interfere with the democrat process?

Obviously this caller was not a military person. From what I remember of my training years ago, they expect you to hold out as long as possible, but they do expect you to eventually break. Nobody can reasonably be expected to hold out. If it took 4 years to break McCain, he is one hell of a tough individual.
