Welcome to obama's America:

The organizers of an anti-Iran rally Monday rescinded their invitation to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin after Democrats protested that her presence would turn the event into a political rally, McCain campaign and Jewish community sources said.

The Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations created a political tempest by inviting Palin to speak without clearing her invitation with another speaker, Senator Hillary Clinton. Clinton promptly dropped out of the event, saying it would be seen as unduly political. The McCain campaign then pressed Senator Barack Obama to join Palin on the stage in a show of unity against Iran.

The Obama campaign in turn offered to send Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida -- who had harshly attacked Palin for slender ties to Pat Buchanan-- to the event.

But the appearance that the non-partisan group was aligning with the Republican ticket put the group and its president, Malcolm Hoenlein, under heavy pressure from Jewish Democrats, including members of the conference, members of Congress, and the liberal group J Street, not to give Palin a platform, sources said. Hoenlein told the McCain campaign that he would have to rescind Palin's invitation or cancel the rally.

The organizers, I'm told, have formally disinvited all elected and political officials, but the move was about Palin.

"In order to keep the focus on Iranian threats and to ensure that this critical message not be obscured, the organizers of the rally have decided not to have any American political personalities appear," the Stop Iran Now coalition said in a statement. "This issue, opposition to a nuclear-armed Iran, is one which enjoys bipartisan support and the backing of the American people across the political spectrum. On this, all Americans stand together. We acknowledge and deeply appreciate those American political leaders who have been and remain prepared to stand with us as we collectively address the dangers of Iran's nuclear program and its support for terrorism globally."

STATEMENT FROM THE ORGANIZERS OF THE RALLY TO STOP IRAN NOW

From The National Coalition to Stop Iran Now

(New York, Sept. 18, 2008) --- The purpose of “THE RALLY TO STOP IRAN NOW” on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, is to protest the presence of Iran’s President Ahmadinejad at the United Nations, and to oppose his nuclear weapons program. We take most seriously his threat to wipe the United States and Israel “off the map” and believe the world leaders gathered at the United Nations must act with resolve to prevent a nuclear armed Iran that would be a threat to this country, Israel and the world.

For this reason, tens of thousands of people of every faith and ethnicity are expected to hear messages from prominent religious and civic leaders, including Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel and Israeli Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik. In order to keep the focus on Iranian threats and to ensure that this critical message not be obscured, the organizers of the rally have decided not to have any American political personalities appear.

This issue, opposition to a nuclear-armed Iran, is one which enjoys bipartisan support and the backing of the American people across the political spectrum. On this, all Americans stand together. We acknowledge and deeply appreciate those American political leaders who have been and remain prepared to stand with us as we collectively address the dangers of Iran's nuclear program and its support for terrorism globally.

We hope that the world leaders gathered at the UN will hear this message and resolve to act decisively against the Iranian nuclear program by implementing UN and Security Council resolutions and sanctions.

We again call on all concerned Americans of every background to join us at the "RALLY TO STOP IRAN NOW" on Monday, Sept. 22, at 11:45 A.M.

What do you guys think about this?

Palin is more in line with their cause than Obama but now less people will attend their rally since neither HRC nor Palin will be there - too bad.

I think this was yet another attempt to stir the Pot. Gov. Palin is going to the UN with Senator McCain, so they put her in the mix with other politicians. I really thought the idea of both her and Hillary going to a "protest" sounded strange.

Makes you wonder, though, why obama refused to go and wanted to send Wexler.

Perhaps obama doesn't want to "stop Iran".....

Agreed. Who's the big loser in this?

Obama. His petulant game-playing has succeeded in insulting a huge Jewish organization. He sends WEXLER to replace CLINTON?! What a joke. What an insult. Now, instead of a democrat attending with Palin, they're having no one attend. Good one Obama, nice diplomacy. Now that's leadership we can believe in.

So I guess this is an example of how Obama will bring us all together to solve the world's problems. Here is a great example of where that could have proven worthy, but Obama obviously doesn't really stand behind working together.

My guess is that the Obama camp poisoned the situation by pulling Hillary, which suddenly made it political instead of bi-partisan. Then Palin may have had to drop out, so she wouldn't be accused of using the event for politics by herself. Obama ruined the whole thing.

Yep. Governor Palin never complained about appearing with any of the Democrats that they were sending. Who did all of the griping and complaining here?

No, they actually rescinded Palin's invitation because the democrats were pressuring them.

The question is, why wouldn't obama go when they asked him? I'm telling you - he does not support anything related to "Stop Iran Now".

So, the Obama people still poisoned the whole thing. Disgusting. As usual, when Obama people work at cross purposes to cover themselves, other more important things become casualties. A wary view of what a BO administration would be like.

Okay so Hillary gets crapped on because she pulled out, people saying it was because she was scared of Palin. Now Palin gets disinvited. So after all the hoopla over this, neither is going to appear anyway. So in turn the Obama camp let Hillary get the flak for cancelling due to Palin when they put pressure on the organizers to withdraw Palin's invitation AFTER Hillary cancels. Smart move folks. Not.

What a joke. It's ridiculous.

In other news Amidijhad today said Israel wasn't "strong" enough to attack another country. Hope he has to eat his words when they kick the s***t out of Iran!

I'm not at all sure that Obama will lose in this now. He would have if Palin had attended and no one on the Democratic ticket had, but now I think the big loser will be the protest movement. It could have been a united, bi-partisan show of strength. He weakened the whole thing, just as he will weaken this country if he is elected. I'm becoming more afraid that he may be...

Absolutely.

I am so sick of this election already. Why does their have to be so much mud slinging and backstage crap like this? Tell the people what you believe. Let the people decide who they agree with. This political maneuvering and posturing is terrible.

I'm sad that it turned out this way -- with neither Hillary or Palin. It would have been nice to take a break from politics for a few hours, with everyone coming together to denounce Ahmadinejad. He is a very dangerous man and an enemy of ours for goodness sakes!

Guys, every American that could be there, should be there. Iran is laughing at us for such stupidity. BHO has made us a laughing stock. The Democrats will never learn and that's why we must defeat them in this election.

Too, if this protest was so damn important, the people running this event should have said all come, all welcome! We need all the support we can get. WHERE ARE THE ADULTS HERE???

Our strength to other nations has clearly dissapated. I resent other nations calling us "Stupid Americans." Look how we act in the name of unity. I'm so angry right now and probably shouldn't write anymore on this subject.

They floated the idea of sending Wexler as an insult, then suddenly realized that the McCain campaign would gladly accept such an arrangement, since that'd show he cares more about Israel than Obama. So they torpedoed the whole thing through backroom manoeuvres. What stupid, vicious, abnd petty people

So, let me get this straight. Obama probably pressured Hillary to back out of the rally. This is probably true considering that he refused to take her place. So, Palin is disinvited to make eveybody on the Dem. side happy.

Is this what he means by working across the aisle? Can I conclude that the rally would have to be partisan or no Democrat was going to attend.

Wake up America! This man is a liar! He only does things for the purpose of his own agenda. He has shown Israel, again, where his priroities are!

Obama is for Obama. He cannot have anyone else take the spotlight even if it would disolve peace. Too many people are backing away from this man. He is exercising too much power for a person who is not even president. Obama will not be elected as in the primaries, but he will take the presidency.

This whole thing sucks. The proper procedure is to just invite all those you want to attend and let whomever refuse for whatever reason. Palin and the organization should not be punished because the democrats didn't want to send the invited representative and made it political by its refusal to attend or send an adversary of Palin's instead of Hillary.

The democrats should have been punished for making this event political when it was intended to show non-partisan or bi-partisan unity.

The democrats derailed this event as intended and those in charge should never have let this happen and buckled.

Statement by John McCain on the "Stop Iran" Rally

ARLINGTON, VA -- Today, U.S. Senator John McCain issued the following statement on the "Stop Iran" rally:

"Throughout my political career, I have sought to rise above partisanship on critical national issues. Nowhere is this more true than on important matters of national security. Earlier this year, Senator Clinton, Senator Obama and I issued a joint statement on the genocide in Darfur and pledged to support efforts to bring it to an end. Earlier this month, Senator Obama and I put the campaign aside to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our country and talk about the importance of national service.

"Next Monday, the day before Iranian President Ahmadinejad is to speak before the United Nations General Assembly, several organizations will sponsor an event to draw attention to the importance of halting Iran's efforts to acquire nuclear weapons. Governor Palin and I share a strong belief that a nuclear armed Iran poses a grave threat to the security of Americans and to our allies. Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. The risk that Iran would provide terrorists with a nuclear weapon is too great for the world to ignore. Iranian President Ahmadinejad has denied the Holocaust occurred and called Israel a 'stinking corpse.' A nuclear-armed Iran would destabilize the entire region. Preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons should be a shared goal of every American, not another occasion for partisan posturing.

"Governor Palin was pleased to accept an invitation to address this rally and show her resolve on this grave national security issue, regrettably that invitation has since been withdrawn under pressure from Democratic partisans. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Republicans, Democrats and independents alike to oppose Ahmadinejad's goal of a nuclear armed Iran. Senator Obama's campaign had the opportunity to join us. Senator Obama chose politics rather than the national interest."

It is obvious where BO's allegiances are. With Iran.

And sending Wexler--please, Wexler doesn't even have a legitimate Florida address. He uses his in-laws Palm Beach County address as his Florida address, and calls himself a representative of that congressional district. He resides in Potomac, Maryland. After he was discovered to be a carpetbagger of the worst kind--he said that he would rent an apartment in his district in Florida.

So the protest against IRAN is now soften because of the infighting within the country.

I just find this highly curious... just heard that Penny Pritzer, BO's TOP TOP insider friend, mentor, who will definitely be appointed to some Cabinet position of BO is elected -- Penny is hosting an event in NYC for Ahmanadeenajad. I'll research this a little further. But, this is consistent with BO's basic handling of the situation. Saying one thing about Iran, but yet, he will NOT attend personnaly attend this rally, because he can not disrupt his relationship with his Hamas/Palestinian buddies, IMHO.

Penny Pritzker, Obama's campaign finance chair, is the heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune. The Grand Hyatt in New York city is hosting an "interfaith dinner" with Iranian President Ahmadinejad Thursday night (September 25) when he comes for his annual UN propaganda tour.

Breaking bread with a genocidal maniac who has repeatedly told his people and other world leaders to prepare for a "world without America." Meanwhile, his country works on the Atomic Bomb.

He also has the blood of US troops on his hands--Iran has provided advanced weaponry to insurgents in both Iraq and Afghanistan, which were used to kill our GIs.
