If we were creating a soundtrack for what this movement has to do in the next 45 days, here are some songs I think capture the essence of what we're doing (PUMAS and McCain supporters):

"I Won't Back Down" Tom Petty

"Too Late for Apologies" New Republic

"A Little Less Conversation, a Little More Action" Elvis

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" Pat Benetar

"Barracuda" Heart

Your ideas?

Anymore?

Okay, maybe I am showing my age here, but what about "Revolution" by the Beatles? When you read the lyrics, think of the caucus fraud, the move of the DNC to Chicago, and substitute Dean/Pelosi/Reid/Obama for Mao!

You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We'd all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We'd all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all want to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you'll have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We'd all love to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright

"We're Not Going to Take it Anymore" by Twisted Sister!!!!!

Oh, my gosh! I was just getting on here to say that and here it is. People, I'm telling you, this is the one! It's like it was written for the occassion. If you don't know it go find it and listen right now. Go, what are you waiting for? :D

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose and
There ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song
We'll fight the powers that be just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong
Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh you're so condescending
Your gall is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you
Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do

Oh...
Oh...
We're right/yeah
We're free/yeah
We'll fight/yeah
You'll see/yeah

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore
No way!

Oh...
Oh...
We're right/yeah
We're free/yeah
We'll fight/yeah
You'll see/yeah

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

We're not gonna take it, no!
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

Just you try and make us
We're not gonna take it
Come on
No, we ain't gonna take it
You're all worthless and weak
We're not gonna take it anymore
Now drop and give me twenty
We're not gonna take it
A pledge pin
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh you on your uniform
We're not gonna take it anymore

Oh, gosh NOOO!!! I'm sorry, but we just can't have a song of hers representing us! She was on Larry King and while she didn't come right out and endorse Obama (because she was there for Rock the Vote and I think they aren't supposed to endorse) she used the word CHANGE about twenty times in the span of five minutes and talked about how we need someone different and this is our one chance. She is a HUGE Obama supporter!

I like "Not Ready To Make Nice". I adopted this song last year when I started fighting city hall in the town where I own property. They p!ssed me off and showed favoritism. I caught them in two civil rights violations against me and pressed charges against them and the town cop. Now they are wanting me to let things drop and get over it. Sound familiar? Well , I'm not ready to make nice there either.

Definitely Dixie Chicks "Not Ready to Make Nice" gets my vote for the Puma Revolution.

Number 2. Queen "We will Rock You" All the songs posted here are really good songs and bring back all those memories of how hard Hillary fought during the Primary season.

My top 4:

For their nearly perfect lyrics:

Twisted Sister: We're Not Going to Take It
Beatles: Revolution

For their inspiration:

K.T. Tunstall: Suddenly, I See
(Can't remember the other one! Not so inspiring after all.)

JMO, but I think Pumas are past We're Not Ready to Make Nice. We're already known for that, lol.

YouTube - THE OFFICIAL HILLARY CLINTON CAMPAIGN SONG VIDEO YOU AND I

"You And I"

High above the mountains, far across the sea
I can hear your voice calling out to me
Brighter than the sun and darker than the night
I can see your love shining like a light
And on and on this earth spins like a carousel
If I could travel across the world
The secrets I would tell

You and I
Were meant to fly
Higher than the clouds
We'll sail across the sky
So come with me
And you will feel
That we're soaring
That we're floating up so high
'Cause you and I were meant to fly

Sailing like a bird high on the wings of love
Take me higher than all the stars above
I'm burning, yearning
Gently turning round and round
I'm always rising up I never
Want to come back down

Fly

You and I
Were meant to fly
Higher than the clouds
We'll sail across the sky
So come with me
And you will feel
That you and I were meant to fly

You and I were meant to fly

Seems like the best ones are:
Twisted Sister - We're not Gonna Take it
Pat Benetar - Invincible

Some suggestions:
Joan Jett - You Don't Own Me
Bonnie Raitt - I Will Not Be Broken
Disturbed - Shout 2000
Aimee Mann - Going Through The Motions
Echo & Bunnymen - Nothing Ever Lasts Forever
The Who -Were not gonna take it
The Who - Don't Get Fooled Again

PS: I agree with Suzan. "Not Ready to Make Nice" is a bit redundant after the primaries.

PPS: Probably not a good idea to choose a female-only type song like "Sisters are doing it for themselves" or "I'm every woman" LOL.

PPPS: Just FYI : 100% of men have an extremely negative reaction to "Wind Beneath My Wings" :p

I agree with Donna's list above. Remember, not all PUMAs are women, so some of the pro-women songs are not inclusive of our male PUMAs. A mix of the four songs on Donna's list would be great!

Journey - What It Takes To Win

Day has come
You're prepared
Electricity in the air
Feel the calm
Feel the rush
You want to leave victorious
Will you look in their eyes
They want you gone, they want the prize
When day is done, risk it all
One will stand, and one will fall

When you learn to lose
You'll know what it takes to win
Wanna go the distance
With a hunger that never ends
When you want to prove
You're the best that's ever been
They can knock you down
You're on your feet again
'Cause you know what it takes
What it takes to win

Seal the deal
Get it done
Earn the right to say you've won
Work it out
Sacrifice
Someone's gonna have to pay the price
Face to face
Stand your ground
Stay in the zone, now don't back down
More than pride
You depend
Fighting hard 'til the very end

When you learn to lose
You'll know what it takes to win
Wanna go the distance
With a hunger that never ends
When you want to prove
You're the best that's ever been
They can knock you down
You're on your feet again
'Cause you know what it takes
What it takes to win

When you share the dream
There's no "I" in team
Let the spirit take you higher
It's a state of mind
No one can define
There's no limit to desire

When you learn to lose
You'll know what it takes to win
Wanna go the distance
With a hunger that never ends
When you want to prove
You're the best that's ever been
They can knock you down
You're on your feet again
'Cause you know what it takes
What it takes to win

Wanna go the distance
With a hunger that never ends
When you want to prove
You're the best that's ever been
They can knock you down
You're on your feet again
'Cause you know what it takes
What it takes to win

What it takes to win
What it takes to win

I actually thought just recently about how appropriate the Tom Petty song - "I won't back down" would be for a video idea. It fits for the Puma theme song. (With the stress of this election another of Tom's songs may be fitting - "Let's get to the Point, Let's Roll Another Joint) Just kidding about that.

I also like the Dixie Chicks' " I'm not ready to make nice" as well as Queen's "We will Rock You."

All the suggestions are great, but I believe we must be mindful of the musician's ideology. For instance, the Beatles "Revolution"...I believe John Lennon would have been an Obama supporter if he were still alive. His song would have been used against John McCain because McCain would have represented "The Establishment" to him of this era.

Don't come around here no more...Tom Petty

Hey! dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more
Whatever youre looking for
Hey! dont come around here no more

Ive given up, stop. I ve given up, stop.
Ive given up, stop. on waiting any longer
Ive given up, on this love getting stronger

Dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more

I dont feel you anymore
You darken my door
Whatever youre looking for
Hey, dont come around here no more

Ive given up, stop. Ive given up, stop.
Ive given up, stop. you tangle my emotions
Ive given up, honey please admit its over

Hey! dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more
Dont come around here no more

Stop walking down my street
Dont come around here no more
Who did you expect to meet?
Dont come around here no more
Whatever youre looking for
Hey! dont come around here no more
Hey! honey please, dont come around here no more
Whatever youre looking for
Ah, oh, ah, ah.
Dont come around here no more

CarrieCollins

Dixie Chicks' Not Ready to Make Nice is far and away the best, I think.

Follow that with "You Don't Own Me" and "We're Not Gonna Take It."

I think you have to avoid like the plague anything that isn't an angry protest song or woman-specific, because the Obots will just corrupt it and attempt to diassociate it from our movement (and they can do that with Revolution, Respect, Wind Beneath My Wings, Queen and a whole bunch of the songs that have been named). If you can imagine hearing it play at a rally for the Presumptuous One, don't even *think* of using it for us.

I like "Watch Me Shine," though it does have one line that refers to women:

"Ooh.. I'm not your average type of girl
I'm gonna show the world the strength in me
That sometimes they can't see
I'm about to switch my style
And soon things may get wild
But I will prove that I can conquer anything

So from my head to toe
I'm taking full control
I'll make it on my own
This time
(Better watch me shine)

CHORUS:
Better watch out
Going for the knockout
And I won't stop
Till I'm on top now
Not gonna give up
Until I get what's mine
Better check that
I'm about to upset
And I'm hot now
So you better step back
I'm taking over
So watch me shine
(Watch me shine)

So get ready
Here I come
Until the job is done
No time to waste
There's nothing stopping me
Oh
But you don't hear me though
So now it's time to show
and prove I'm gonna be the best
I can be

So from my head to toe
My mind, body and soul
I'm taking full control
This time
(Better watch me shine)

CHORUS:
Better watch out
Going for the knockout
And I won't stop
Till I'm on top now
Not gonna give up
Until I get what's mine
Better check that
I'm about to upset
And I'm hot now
So you better step back
I'm taking over
So watch me shine

BRIDGE:
Bet you don't think I can take it
But my mind and body are strong
Bet you don't think I can make it
It won't take long
Bet you don't think I can take it
But my mind and body are strong
Bet you don't think I can make it
It won't take long
Now watch me shine...

CHORUS:
Better watch out
Going for the knockout
And I won't stop
Till I'm on top now
Not gonna give up
Until I get what's mine
Better check that
I'm about to upset
And I'm hot now
So you better step back
I'm taking over
So watch me shine
(Now watch me shine...)"

Of course, you could cut that first line from the soundtrack if using it, or switch it to "average type of Dem" if recording it. :D

Have any of you heard that song - popular a few years ago, can't remember who did it. I think the only lyrics are "Now you're messin' with a son of a bitch" - very rock and rebellious.

That would be Nazareth from their album Hair of the Dog. Seen them in concert ! They were great!

Not so much the P.U.M.A. movement--but great for the "Country first" movement!

Yay! Another vote for this one! I vote for it again! :D

Lest anyone needs more convincing, watch this great video! It's my favorite ever - and I'm not really much of a Youtube lover. Now it's on my workout list. :p YouTube - WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT!

I actually posted this one on the PUMA forum a while back.

Rise Above: Black Flag

Jealous cowards try to control
Rise above
Were gonna rise above
They distort what we say
Rise above
Were gonna rise above
Try and stop what we do
Rise above
When they cant do it themselves

We are tired of your abuse
Try to stop us its no use

Society's arms of control
Rise above
Were gonna rise above
Think they're smart
Cant think for themselves
Rise above
Were gonna rise above
Laugh at us
Behind our backs
I find satisfaction
In what they lack

We are tired of your abuse
Try to stop us its no use

We are born with a chance
Rise above
Were gonna rise above
I am gonna have my chance
Rise above
Were gonna rise above

We are tired of your abuse
Try to stop us its no use

Power To The People: John Lennon

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Say you want a revolution
We better get on right away
Well you get on your feet
And out on the street

Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

A million workers working for nothing
You better give em what they really own
We got to put you down
When we come into town

Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

I gotta ask you comrades and brothers
How do you treat you own woman back home
She got to be herself
So she can free herself

Singing power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on
Now, now, now, now

Oh well, power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Yeah, power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people, right on

All the suggestions are great, but I believe we must be mindful of the musician's ideology. For instance, the Beatles "Revolution"...I believe John Lennon would have been an Obama supporter if he were still alive. His song would have been used against John McCain because McCain would have represented "The Establishment" to him of this era.

I think John Lennon would have been a Hillary supporter because he was very pro-woman's rights. After she was forced out, i think he would have been a PUMA. I wonder what Yoko thinks about all this.

Thebword-- THANKS soo much for finding those videos! I just love Ella, even if her version isn't as vindictive as I"d like it :D

Oh but those lyrics!...
You told me I was too plebian,
told me you were through with me
And now you say you're sorry for being so untrue
Well you can cry me a river....

YouTube - Julie London in THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT ("Cry Me A River") (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=141HmTUCfsg)

Love it, I suggested Cry Me a River too.

LYRICS
Now you say you're lonely
You've cried the whole night through

Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
I've cried a river over you

Now you say you're sorry
For being so untrue

Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
I've cried a river over you

You drove me, nearly drove me out of my head
While you never shed a tear
I remember, yes I remember all you said
Told me I was too plebian
Told me you were through with me and

Now you say you love me
Well, just to prove you do
Go on and cry me a river
Cry me a river
I've cried a river over you.

One of my favorite 50s jazz songs...and Julie London was so hot! By the way, if anybody is into music, The Girl Can't Help It is a really good as a musical artifact, and not a terrible movie either.:)

Just PLEASE nothing that has ever been used for a high school prom. Nothing mushy. I think rather than something 'solely' about Hillary such as Wind Beneath My Wings, it should be about us as individuals coming together to say... WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT! haha... my third vote for this song. :D

The Eagle

Lord knows i am peaceful when i'm left alone

I've always been an eagle, been awhile since i have flown

My claws are sharp as ever,so is my eagle eye

Somethings gonna go tonight, when the eagle flies

Lately i've heard rumors that the eagle may be lame

Just because i've been idle don't mean that i'm tame

You've jeopardized my freedom,my natural place to roost

I can fly if i have to,if they turn the eagle loose

Chorus:

So lay all your doubts aside, when you go to bed tonight

My feathers have been ruffled and i'm ready for a fight

Just because i took awhile to fly don't mean that i don't care

When you feel the shadow crossing, the eagle's in the air

oooh! I love "You Don't Own Me" a theme song for PUMA! Especially as it was done at the end of "First Wives Club"
Me too, love that song. Might be the right one!

OK... So it's decided. The official PUMA song is Let The Might Eagle Soar by John Ashcroft. I'm glad we finally found one we all agree on. :p LOL

Too late. I voted four times for We're Not Gonna Take It along with some other people who voted once. So, it must have won. :p I mean, aren't we allowed to vote more than once in this election?!?! :D

You know? The more I read those lyrics, the more I think this would be a perfect theme song for us!
