CHICAGO, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- U.S. federal agents say they have enough evidence to indict Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich for fraud and conspiracy, WBBM-TV, Chicago, reported Thursday.

The CBS-owned station also said an indictment of Blagojevich, the first Democrat elected to Illinois' governorship in 30 years, was "not imminent."

Neither the FBI, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald nor Blagojevich's office had any immediate comment on the report.

Fitzgerald's office said June 30, 2006, it was looking into "very serious allegations of endemic hiring fraud" in the Blagojevich administration.

DemKR

He definitely has links to Obama......Obama endorsed him for re-election of Gov. of Illinois in 2006, and Blagojevich was instrumental in moving the state primary up to February 5th so Illinois can "show it's support for Sen. Obama."

He is a typical Chicago crook.

Obama's Iraqi Oil for Food connection
By Andrew Walden

Out on bail awaiting trial, dual US-Syrian citizen, Antoin ‘Tony' Rezko, was rousted out of bed by police pounding on the doors of his Chicago mansion the morning of Monday, January 28. According to the Associated Press:

"U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve jailed Rezko...saying he had disobeyed her order to keep her posted on his financial status. Among other things, he failed to tell her about a $3.5 million loan from London-based Iraqi billionaire Nadhmi Auchi -- a loan that was later forgiven in exchange for shares in a prime slice of Chicago real estate. Rezko gave $700,000 of the money to his wife and used the rest to pay legal bills and funnel cash to various supporters."

Funds from Auchi's loan may have helped finance a complex series of transactions between Rezko and Democratic Presidential candidate Illinois Senator Barack Obama involving the 2005 purchase of Obama's Chicago mansion and Rezko's purchase of an adjoining landlocked parcel.

The Times of London reports:

"A company related to Mr. Auchi, who has a conviction for corruption in France, registered the loan to Mr. Obama's bagman Antoin ‘Tony' Rezko on May, 23 2005. Mr. Auchi says the loan, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA, was for $3.5 million.

"Three weeks later, Mr. Obama bought a house on the city's South Side while Mr Rezko's wife bought the garden plot next door from the same seller on the same day, June 15. Mr. Obama says he never used Mrs. Rezko's still-empty lot, which could only be accessed through his property. But he admits he paid his gardener to mow the lawn."

Rezko's relationship with Barack Obama goes back to at least 1990, when Obama's law firm did work relating to a Rezko housing development. Rezko was a key early-money fund raiser in Obama's state Senate campaigns and his failed run at the US Congress. In June 2005, when the mansion was purchased, Rezko was widely known to be under federal investigation. Rezko also is a key fundraiser for Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich.

The sudden emergence of Auchi into this story indicates Rezko's deals may include a money trail leading back to dead Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Auchi's Saddam links trace back to a failed 1959 assassination attempt on the life of then-Iraqi-prime-minister Abdul Karim Qasim.

This is the real deal. This is exactly what Evelyn Pringles "cesspool of corruption" op ed was about. Blago will be squeezed to rat out Obama. He is at the heart of "operation board games" and must now do whatever is needed to help himself out. Ratting will be Blago's only option.

Waiting with great anticipation.....:eek::eek::D

Michelle M

I haven't heard anything about Blagojevich endorsing McCain. Link, please.

In fact, I am shocked that this is happening at all.

I fully expected Rezko to hunker down and bide his time, waiting for a pardon.

But, on second thought:

I guess his best bet is to get the best possible deal right now -- SHORT of ratting out Obama, and hope like hell that Obama gets into office to pardon him.

That way, he's in the best position if Obama loses, and in a good position if Obama wins.

If Obama loses, THEN and ONLY then would he consider a suddenly improved memory...

This is getting good -- very good.

Still, until after the election, I cannot imagine either of these characters ratting out Obama when there's a prayer that Obama could get into office and pardon them. Why would they damn the one person who could save them from prison? Unless, of course, Fitzgerald already has the goods and doesn't need them.

Recall not long ago there were reports that Rezko was spending an awful lot of time trotting back and forth to court, for a guy who didn't have any court appearances. (a/k/a "cooperating.")

Chicago stations had been talking for some time now that they might be going after Blago wife first. SO this is a surprise but since we know Blago isn't going any further I wish he would go after Obama first and keep another corrupt Pol out of he White House.

Fitzgerald usually starts at the bottom and works up to the big fish. And everytime Blago got money , Obama got money as well. Just a much smaller amount.

Not to mention Obama rearranging the boards to benefit all the games that were going on.

Not only did Obama support Blagojevich, he -- Obama -- was one of Blagojevich's top strategists for the governor's electoral victory. From the fantastic New Yorker article by Ryan Lizza (an article that got him banned from Obama's travel plane, at least for a time) that accompanied the infamous 'turban' cover cartoon:

http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/images/arts/photos/2008/07/14/obama-ny-cp-5176045.jpg

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/21/080721fa_fact_lizza?printable=true

Rahm Emanuel, a congressman from Chicago and a friend of Obama’s, told me that he, Obama, David Wilhelm, who was Blagojevich’s campaign co-chair, and another Blagojevich aide were the top strategists of Blagojevich’s victory. He and Obama “participated in a small group that met weekly when Rod was running for governor,” Emanuel said. “We basically laid out the general election, Barack and I and these two.” A spokesman for Blagojevich confirmed Emanuel’s account

Obama is deeply tied to Blagojevich, and always has been, since the beginning. Which is one reason why Team McCain made this ad:

YouTube - Chicago Machine (McCain ad) -- 9.22.08 -- Barack Obama's problematic background in The Second City's political culture of corruption

...featuring Blagojevich.

Just as Obama is in bed with Fannie and Freddie (see: Jim Johnson still helping out Team Obama), he has always been in bed with the corrupt political machine from Chicago. He is part of that machine, inextricably linked with it.

Also recall, Pat Fitzgerald's team had enough evidence to bring up Obama's name during the Rezko trial. They could have introduced Obama in a more formal sense than just the "Politician X" or whatever they used, but they chose not to. But, they had the evidence to do so.

Blagojevich is one part of the Chicago political cesspool. Obama is merely another portion of that same cesspool.

The corrupt Blagojevich is not the squeakly clean, Leader of the People that Barack Obama knew. Obama is the victim here, of a vast conspiracy to tarnish his good name, by going after ALL his nefarious associates and associations.

Better grab those pictures of Obama with Blagojevich off the internet now while you can, or they will disappear off the web like George Obama standing in his Huts doorway have disappeared.

About darn time they got rid of him... maybe he can share a cell with George Ryan. (Governer that was in office before him.)

This is interesting, they usually wait in Illinois to indict officials right when their term is over... Hopefully this will begin to bring attention to unaware Americans 'the hell that is Chicago politics'. They don't give a crap about anyone but themselves.
