IS THE MEDIA DECIDING THE NEXT PRESIDENT?
Aside from the points I have made in previous blogs about the biased American Media's treatment of Hillary Clinton, I should make some further points.
When historians look back on this Democratic Presidential Campaign there is no doubt that they will label our next president as "The man the Press annointed President".
Its funny how CNN can call a winner of a presidential Primary within one minute of the polls closing, before any results are ven tabulated. They simply conduct their own exit polls and then tell us who the winner is. Why do we even bother watching any further. We can just turn our attentions back to our PS3s and out MP3s and forget learning anymore, right?
CNN reporters such as Jack Cafferty have been working overtime to slam the door on Hillary Clinton. Each week, monday through friday, Jack appears on CNN and has a question and answer session that makes up his interactive time slot. He posts the questions and the public logs on and replies. Its pretty interesting.
For the last few weeks, every day, sometimes twice each day, Jack asks a negative question, or a question with condemning overtones, about Hillary Clinton and then allows a gang-up-on Hillary session that is just shameless and irresponsible journalism.
Day after day I turn to hear the news and see him beat up on her lkike some drunken and abusing husband who is taking his personal dissappointments out on his wife. And, the American public joins in.
Then, CNN drags out pundits like Paul begala and David Gergen who claim to be Hillary Clinton supporters, yet all they can do is spend their time writing her epitaph, slamming her campaign, and talking about how her run for 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue is over and done with. If Clinton's campaign is filled with supporters like this, its no wonder she is losing to Obamamania.
Of course, all the major news papers have turned on Clinton too. Unions, celebrities, other politicians, and anyone who can get on-air time also pummels her with insults, words of doom and gloom for her campaign, and total disrepect. Its an unbelievable showing of force against the enemy Clinton!
She can do no right in a world where Obama can do no wrong. If Hillary Clinton solved all the worlds problems and cured all the world's diseases tomorrows headlines would still read "Obama wows crowds in Texas", and somewhere on page 48 a short article would claim that Clinton has tossed all the diplomats out of work by declaring world peace and all the doctors and scientists are on unemployment insurance because she cured cancer and diabetes.
She shows to the world that Obama is a copy cat with no real and true original vision. He is great at copying words from others. He is fantastic at whooping up a crowd with inspirational speeches, and he is great for showing the world how he will solve all our problems with hope and by copying the plans of past administrations. But, I wonder, when a problem arises that has never been faced before, who will he ask for a plan? Whose playbook will he dip into then?
But, no one listens to her, they just scorn her for picking on everyones buddy, everyones pal, every man's candidate, Obama! Its an unreal shame that defies belief. No one wants to hear the truth or believe the facts. They just want to crucify Clinton for "going negative" in a world where she couldn't go right if the hand of God himself has designed it.
So, the biased media has done its job of crushing Hillary Clinton. Texas will not support her. The women there have turned on her despite all she has done and how she has proven she has already done for women. the hispanics will forget what she has done for them and what part she has played in the advancement of Hispanic people in the Federal Government. Parents will forget what she has already done for children and what she will continue to do for families.
The media has chosen Obama for Presidential Candidate of the Democratic Party and now that Hillary's corpse is smoking in their rear view mirror the biased based media will beging to take aim at John Mccain.
This story of his supposed illicit affair had been a story the press heldf onto since December. Funny how they waited until now to release the story. I don't buy the crap that they were just working the story to insure accuracy because the story is so weak and uncorroborated that it couldnt stand up to screutiny by a Boy Scout Troops investigations. Its sad yes, but its what we will be seeing and hearing much more of as the press now labors to insure Obamamania will rule over McCain as well.
Its funny how Americans can stand by and listen to this garbage and actually go on believing it all. I guess that the "Dumbing down of America" is really a fact and not just a one liner.
What I do know is that the American media is choosing our next president for us and we are helpless to stop them. They tried back in 1948 with Thomas Dewey and even went as far as to declare Dewey the winner of the election with bold day after election headlines that declared "Dewey Defeats Truman". The photo of Truman standing with the newspaper headline in the photo is priceless as he was notified that he was actually elected President and NOT Dewey.
We can even look to today, at teh New Hampshire primaries, when the press declared their prediction and projected Obama the winner of the New Hampshire primaries only to be astonished when Hillary Clinton arose as the victor. They have been out to redeem themselves and villify her ever since.
It would be amazing if Texas votes for Hillary. It would be amazing if Rhode Island and Ohio and Vermont also go against the politically biased media machineand start thinking for themselves. But, it won't happen. They like the Obama train, even if it won't fix our sorry country. At least the media will make a ton of money and people can feel good about their choice. then again, they felt pretty good after electing George W. Bush, twice, too.
Read this blog! She is totally correct. It's scary!

I have been pondering last night and all day today. I'm baffle with the media bias on the most excellent statement during this race. Her closing statement was superbly delivered. What else could she do to get the fair treatment?
I have been wondering how her opponent managed to have the media in his pocket. And today I came to the conclusion that I have been asking the wrong question. They are not for her opponent, but they are against Hillary. The media is on a personal crusade to give Hillary a lesson that they are the power to be rockoned with and cannot be ignored.
Hillary's conflict with the media started long time ago since she was the first lady. They gave her unfair treatment then, and she never gave them an inch. During the NY senate campaign, they also gave her a hard time but she pulled through. This time I think the media is determined to show her they can swift boat her campaign.
Hillary's cold treatment to the media makes matter worse. I remembered Christ Matthew complained that at one of the very first rally in Iowa there were about 200 journalist waiting 2 hours in the cold to cover the rally. She got out of the bus, walked into the rally, spoke for 1 hour and left without giving any interview. From their perspective, I can understand their frustration as they went home empty-handed after 2 hours in the snow. She might thought that they already got the news from the rally. But it was the first campaign of the season, they were their to cover her campaign. And they wanted to be recognized and appreciated.
Hillary's true opponent is not the other candidate, but it's the media. They are on the mission to stop her campaign. And we are losing the battle because media voice is louder than us, small individual supporters. Hillary ends up having 3 lines of battle, her opponent, the media, and the right wing. Her campaign needs to manage the media assault not retaliate them. Maybe this development was not happened by chance but by choice. Maybe it was her decision to deal with the media in this way. We wouldn't know for sure.
So what can we do as her supporters? I will submit my view to her campaign. And I will send an email to all the stations. I will remind them that they have the responsibility to help the public make an informed decision in this election. They need to put aside personal dislike of Hillary and report the news without bias.
At this point, my fair assessment reveals that they have an upper hand on Hillary. And they will step up their assault to finish her off on March 4. The campaign need to come up with something real quick. And we need to make the media listen to us. The majority of voters only read the headline. We are the minority few who follow every words closely and know the whole story. If it continues this way, we will lose this battle. Maybe it's too late now to change the media bias. But we still have to try our best.
Well, I think most of your analysis is, unfortunately, probably very true. The mainstream media is indeed on a campaign, a crusade, to STOP Hillary Clinton. And I think in part, you're right, they are not necessarily for Obama but he is the weapon to use against her. Obama is the media's means, the media's vehicle through which to destroy HRC. The media's attempt to reconstruct her brilliant closing statement at the Texas debate as a "concession" speech was the single most obvious piece of evidence they want to destroy her. In reality, that final statement was Clinton's claim to the presidencey and the media, and Obama's campaign, went into overdrive to decieve the public into thinking it was an exit speech. Shameless journalism.
I think, however, that part of the reason the media is against her is rooted in sexism. Let's face it, MEN run the media and HRC's candidacy challenges the very core of a patriarchal society where men still dominate. It is always difficult to determine the nature of someone's personal dislike for another as their can be so many factors involved. But I would argue that much of the "dislike" for HRC has no justifiable basis and that it's rooted in sexism and the construction of women who seek power as "trouble-makers".
Make no mistake about it, however, Obama and his shameless campaign have completed tapped into and fostered this anti-Hillary sentiment. They have made it central to their campaign and used it to their advantage time and time again. The media has been the biggest messenger, the most powerful ally in corrupting the public. It's a disgusting coalition between Obama and the Media - they have joined forces to put an end to HRC's campaign. But she is fighter and won't go down lightly, rest assured.
I don't know what we can do. I have emailed CNN. I started this forum. I blog all over the place submitting comments. But you're right, our voice is so small. We can only hope that enough people on March 4th don't fall victims to the cons and lies of the media. We can only hope. Take heart in knowing that not everyone has been deceived. There are some journalists who are willing to bring attention to this fiasco (some contributors to the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, Taylor Marsh) and we must continue to voice our concerns in whatever ways we can.

CNN won't even post my comments, I guess they hit to close to home against Obama! There was a time when I watched Fox, but it was so republican based I switched to CNN, now CNN is just as bad as FOX with their crusade against Hilary! Might as well watch FOX to build their ratings and lower CNN's. At least you know where their loyalty is.

I hear ya! CNN deletes half of my comments (or doesn't approve them) because I usually make some criticism against CNN or Obama. We can't have that now! I have come to LOATHE CNN. It's like you say, at least from Fox we expect anti-Hillary stuff because it's basically run by the Republican Party. But with CNN, I am disgusted with their bias and would never have thought they would stoop so incredibly low. They really have lost me as a viewer. Prior to this election, CNN was pretty much the only news channel I watched and CNN website was my hompeage. Now both are gone - for TV news, I have been lowering myself to watch Fox, and online I have changed my home page to a meditation website!
We cannot let the Media/Obama coalition win! Real people must fight back and take control of this voting process. We know how much the public has been corrupted and decieved by the Media/Obama coalition but our grassroots efforts and activism can help bring justice to this entire fiasco!
The media has not won. Nor has Obama. This race goes on. Clinton will fight to the very end. And I will be there cheering her on! And so should we all!

The pathetic part is when they started attacking Chelsea...again. Who can forget back when every day the media were taking pot shots at the girls appearance, I also remember Hillary and Bill asking them to leave the attack on them and not their daughter. Who in their right mind thinks it's appropriate to attack a little girls appearance when they are having a hard enough time growing up? To this day it still sickens me that it was widely practiced and accepted by the masses.

Thank you for sharing such an amazing blog! I have to say, sadly, that it's very true what is posted in it. The media has decided the primary season, at least they think so. However, as long as Hillary fights, I will fight too. But, I have John McCain's website bookmarked in case the Obamians win, I'm ready to do what I can to support his opponent. The media WILL NOT decide who I support and I'd rather support a GOP member that is closer to the middle than Obama who has no idea what his position is and has a wife that couldn't be proud until they were "winning." I despise both of them. And their idea of unity is nothing more than a corrupt way of duping the public into thinking that they are pulling people together when they are dividing them further apart. Or, maybe it's the ignorance not knowing they are nothing more than a pawn.
It really disturbs me how the media does control things. So often we hear about how other countries have medias that lead their public and how that is so wrong. But their medias and ours are very much alike in how they are biased and only show what they want you to see. Gone are the days of good news in the media. Instead, it's about sad stories and depressing images. No wonder American morale is so down. So, when a "feel good" plagiarist like Barack Obama comes around and they glorify him in that light, we're so far down, we want to rally around him to make us feel better. The media disgusts me.
But thank you for sharing this. This person has it on point, sadly!

I'll never forget how the media ridiculed Chelsea Clinton when Bill was in the White House. It was horrible and a total disregard for a teenager. Given that quite a few of my teenage years were during this administration, I could relate to the scrutiny that they were placing on her. And it's sad that they are still dishing it out to Chelsea.
Of course, the media places a high importance upon appearance, even at a young age. It's no wonder that children end up feeling inferior and that they have to go to extremes to feel or look important.

REMIND PEOPLE THAT NOT SO LONG AGO, THE MILLS THAT ARE IN EVERY TOWN IN THE NORTHEAST ON EVERY RIVER WERE FILLED WITH WOMEN TEXTILE LABORERS. They flocked to these dungeons, where they worked long hours in terrible conditions, and died from black lung disease. They lived in same-sex housing, like migrant workers, and sent what little they made home, like illegal maids in big cities today.
Ironically, they worked with the same stuff the slaves picked, and made certain people very wealthy during the Industrial Revolution. Unlike African slaves, they didn't need to be kidnapped and dragged here in chains -- they flocked to the dungeons "willingly," desperately, because it was the first time in history that masses of women could work for wages. But their labor was dirt cheap, their lives horrible, and when the unions came, they were not allowed to join the unions.
(Later, Samuel Gompers helped women get into the unions, which is why he needed a body guard (my great grandfather was his bodyguard.).
The same class of rich, oppressive folks who lived off the cheap labor of slaves and women created poverty, and the desperation and vulnerability of the poor. Any vulnerable group can be branded "it" by painting them inferior, and then justify exploiting them. Unfortunately, these groups are pitted against each other and sometimes compete for the same limited, bad jobs.
Instead of attacking each other, they should join together and go after the oppressor, and the root causes should be rooted out, forever.
Obama wants to hold hands with the oppressor!

I think that the Media is doing it ALLLLLLLLLLLL for the RATINGS and MONEY. They more they heat this race up, the more issues of papers/magazines they sell and the hotter the news reports are thus getting them higher ratings.
So if Hillary doesn't get the nomination (which I do think she will get it), but IF she doesn't and the world goes to hell in a hand basket....they only have themselves to blame....well, and the Republicans.

This has been the pattern for the past 2 months. It has DISGUSTED me.
The sexism that has taken place during the media coverage of the Clinton/Obama battle has been abominable. Really, really shocking.
You'd think we were back in the 1600s when women were burned alive for seeking "power". It may be 2008, but the same old hatreds and biases are still very much reflected in society's behavior towards women who speak out and refuse to be silenced.
The public/media attacks on Clinton have really, really disturbed me.
And Obama's obvious willingness to capatilize on his male privilege and to take advantage of this anti-female sentiement has disturbed me even more. And he presents himself as being a person of integrity and strong ethics. What a joke! Obama's willingess to capitilize on the discrimination dished out to his opponent (Clinton) has led me to conclude that Obama is deeply opportunistic and has nil interest in fighting for equality and non-oppression of those in society who have bee marginalized and hated.

Agree with all of the above. And the danger here too. If the media thinks it's alright to throw a tantrum like this because THEY don't like her and want to pick the president then what else will the choose to do in their narcissistic battle for ownership of choice in this country?? Who will the demonize next to make everyone get in line with what will make them the most money??
It's time the American public took them down a peg. Writing sponsors and not giving up till we get some real news back on the air. The republican owned media. Funny, it's the republicans who struck down the fairness in media act and the equal time coverage amendment to it. What's next?? Fake elections with no choice as is done in Cuba or China???? What??
This is the SAME thing!! Propaganda instead of reporting. And that indeed IS frightening.
As for Obama riding in on this wave of hatred and sexism without saying word? the "unity" preacher. It's this VERY reason I cannot vote for him. He's used bias against women to get where he is! For those who say its crazy to not vote democrat, I ask them to walk in these shoes while all of this has gone on!! It would be like asking a African American to vote for someone who won BECAUSE people wanted to tear down their race and got away with it while that person stayed silent. I cannot do it!! To me it puts a stamp of approval on the most reprehensible attacks on women that I've seen in the American media in years! It's a NON choice!!
My only moral choice in this race IS Hillary Clinton! It's so obvious it is bizarre that you have to explain this to anyone at all. There is someone who posted that it was about "ego" if we don't vote dem in the G.E. for Obama...oh???
I wager you are a single white male who hasn't felt beat up and utterly demoralized as a human being in the middle of all this. It's one thing to feel that it's wrong and it's another to live it, to know that when all is said and done there won't be any justice and perhaps you've been set back forty years by this lack of outrage and justice. It's of little consequence to me if everyone understands right now WHY I cannot vote Obama. The fact is that for the first time in my long life as a dem I cannot!!! I cannot do it for the women before me and after me. For daughters and mothers, sisters and friends. Even friends voting for him.
I forgive this person for questioning but, the saying it's pure "ego" comes from a place of luxury that I don't have. It's about human rights and dignity not ego!! Gratefully, what I have been blessed to KNOW is that many men are as outraged about this as women are. Maybe they have a wiser view. Knowing it's their own female friends and family members who pay if we give this a pass. Obama will not get a pass from me for this. And later on saying that he abhors what happens will carry no weight...not when he is sweet talking for votes...if he can't say anything now then I will not hear him when he needs those he disenfranchised.
AND his stance on baby boomers. "The day of the baby boomer is over" as he stated in Iowa. Oh really? Many of us are still working hard for human rights, many of us don't feel like being marginalized by Mr. Obama. If our day is "over" then I presume he doesn't need us in the G.E. then???
The more I think about all of this the more I am astounded that anyone can vote for him at all based on the facts.

it s to bad that there are not any real reporters left.these people just read what is on a paper..maybe some one needs to explain to them it s not thier job to create news but to find out truth....i wondered if they were just stupid or they believe what the republicans tell them ,they did the same thing 4 years ago..and the dems fell for it too..please explain that whatever the republicans tell you that they want ,they'r really hoping you'll do the exact oppisite..and someone should tell all these young voters who want a change in washington that the problem is our government is divided because of liberals and conservatives.....hillary would really be the change candidate a moderate..unlike the senators that ran out and backed obama all liberals. hillary clinton is the only candidate in years to even mention the middle class..how sad they are the ones that always lose in the liberal/conservatiove tug of war...there will never be peace in washington as long as they are controlling our government.maybe thats what the medea wants...

Yes, it is too bad. I've heard reporters and pundits exclaim how much "fun" this is, etc. Very unprofessional.
Today on MSNBC I could have thrown a rock thru the TV. These so-called experts can't even see beyond their noses or don't want to.
It was said that Hillary says Obama is not ready to be president but apparently the Clinton campaign thinks he would be in November as a VP candidate. In other words, they are hypocrites.
Well, if you carry the thinking a little further, which most reporters and pundits can't do, you could argue that Obama would get on the job training for the presidency as VP and then be a lot more qualified to be president if need be or if he runs in 8 years.
The liklihood that he'd be called upon to be pres. immediately if something should happen to Hillary is VERY remote.
The news media and pundits just totally drive me crazy because they make it look like Hillary thinks he's going to be qualified (as vp should something happen to her as president) in 5-6 months! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

The Blog site was spot on.
Why should the MSM stop now? They've elected Bush twice. Drumming Dan Rather out on a stick for pointing out some serious issues. Hope he wins his lawsuit!
The MSM are all owned by big Republican funded Parent Corporations. How about NBC, owned by GE. Do you think GE wants to give up its no-bid defense contracts and be forced to "go green?" I don't think so.
They all have their hands in the coffer.
The Republicans have succeeded in deregulating everything from the airwaves to the airlines. The less regulation, the more we become a bastion of propaganda.
Here's an interesting link as to who owns whom.

I continue to be puzzled by the MSM's adulation of Obama. I bit the bullet and listened to progressive talk radio yesterday- I've been boycotting it because the likes of Ed Schultz and Randi Rhodes have been so completely hateful towards Hillary and so insanely ga-ga overy Barack. During his show, Ed Schultz took a call from a woman who exclaimed that Hillary should step down because there is no way she can possibly win- she used the term that the radio party hacks have been throwing around "Do the simple math!" Ed had to grudgingly admit that Obama was in fact, not so far ahead in delegates that Hillary could not win. I know this is just talk radio but it's so weird to me that people think if they just repeat it enough times, Obama will be the winner. What makes us so different that we're not swayed by all the media hype? Are we smarter? Less prone to suggestibility?

Might as well watch FOX to build their ratings and lower CNN's. At least you know where their loyalty is.
I have yet to see one of my comments posted there either!!
It's called, the buying of a president by Oprah, the media and the DNC.
It's corrupt! This is the very reason we all need to make sure Hillary gets elected! We will have to work twice as hard to make half the gains!

I used to love Air America, perhaps because they Bush-bashed all the time, but I haven't listened to it in about a year. Those talk show hosts are running the ratings wave.
Randi Rhodes should be ashamed of herself. She served in the Military and knows the battles she fought to get where she got.
The lets take Rachel Maddow, now MSNBC Political analyst extraordinaire, and she is a proclaimed Lesbian and would prefer a President who will not stand up for her as a Woman or a Lesbian.
Has the drinking water been infused with the kool-aid?
I guess they can't call themselves progressive, because if they were, they would want what is best for this Country and not sell out to what is getting them ratings.
Which if I think about it means they were never really progressive because they didn't jump on the criticize Bush bandwagon until it was popular. Hmmm.

Is it just me (people of a certain age) or do other Hillary supporters feel as if we are the ones running around yelling "Soylent Green is People!!!" and the media is ignoring us? All the while the drone mentallity of America is chowing down like nothing is out of the ordinary. I know it is an obscure reference but I really feel the frustration that Charlton Heston portrayed at that defining moment in the movie. A certain demographic is lining up to buy what the media is selling.
I can take a palm frond from a tree in my backyard, throw it on the grill with a little olive oil and it will make a great SIZZLE. Toss on a little garlic powder and what a great AROMA. Take a bite and it tastes like crap. People love sizzle and aroma. There is a reason they used old Clara Pellar to ask "Where's the beef?". Those old ladies aren't fooled by the package. Guess that's why they make up a big part of Hillary's base.

KittyNC...I agree with you. Air America radio has really started bashing HRC. I used to listen to Randi Rhodes all the time. Now, I can't stand to listen to her. She's become the very divisive voice that she accuses HRC of being. I actually heard her today say that HRC was responsible for dividing the Democratic party. WHAT? And Rachel Maddow is equally disappointing.

Of course... and now that the MSM sees that their crap isn't working as quickly as they would like... well...
NOW the MSM is instructing FLUFF supporters to feel "cheated" should FLUFF not win the nomination!
NEVER MIND that the other 50% of the Dems are going to feel cheated if HILLARY doesn't win the nom... no, the MSM doesn't acknowledge this at all...
If you believe the MSM, 99% of Dems support FLUFF... and this math-gone-wrong notion so pisses me off!

the lack of reference to HILLARY's lost votes puzzles me as well. I am speaking of the statements made by the pundits regarding Clinton's NEED for Obama as VP IF she is nominated because if she doesn't take him she will lose the "black vote"....they FAIL to mention that IF BO wins the nomination he would lose the "women's vote"...but..then again..what do THEY care about 2nd class citizens such as women? We don't really matter if we are lost now DO we? Gloria Steinehm (Sp?) eluded to the fact that this whole campaign was littered with sexism and she was bashed for it....the MSM said she was a throw back...they said she didn't realize that the "fight had been won" ?? it was? I wasn't aware that the ERA was passed ...were you???? The whole point of the feminist movement ..the whole drive...was to get the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) passed...and guess what...it was NEVER PASSED!!! To this DAY...women do NOT have EQUAL rights according to the Constitution of the United States of America!! In OUR Constitution all MEN are still listed as being created equal...not all men AND women...Do young women NOT realize that our "Rights" (however UNequal they are at this point) are NOT protected by the Constitution? WAKE UP EVERYONE!!! SPEAK OUT!!! Let AMERICA HEAR OUR VOICES!!! good lord....i'm so tired of this 2nd class citizenship....Feminism was killed by the men who feared losing power....feminism was successfully turned into a 4 letter word.....no one DARES to say they are a feminist....as Ani DiFranco says...."the coolest F word deserves an F***'in shout!" I am a proud feminist as are some of my male friends....but again..somehow..being a feminist seems to bring with it an assumption that it is a weakness....not a strength...within oneself....that is the difference between African Americans and Women..no one DARES to belittle those who are brimming with "black pride" but...for women to stand up and call themselves feminists and say they are PROUD to be a woman...that is belittled, ridiculed and of course...MINIMIZED!

I agree 100%.
I emailed Randi Rhodes last week to tell her I had turned her show off for good and why. I used to be a faithful listener but I can't take it anymore. I am thinking about sending an email to Air America to tell them the same. It's obvious Randi could care less; not only did I get no response but she has stepped up her criticism - actually that is too mild a word to describe.
I turned on a radio I haven't listened to in awhile today and it was programmed to Air America. Randi was in the middle of a rail against Geraldine Ferraro for her comments about Obama. As I reached over to change the station, Randi was saying that the Clinton campaign was responsible for distributing the "memo" about Barrack being a Muslim. I didn't stick around to hear anymore.
I was in a great mood one minute before turning on the radio; within seconds I was spitting bullets.
I don't know how Hillary does it - I would last about ten seconds in this political atmosphere . . .
P.S. In case anybody wants to email Randi, her email address is rrhodes@airamericaradio.com

Of course the media is trying to decide this process.
Carter was a nice man, but an ineffectual President. A man who was created by the media at the time and came out of nowhere with no experience to become President. And look what happened -- a one-term President.
Read my blog here for more on this:
http://theviewfromlalaland.blogspot.com/2008/02/barack-obama-another-media-created.html
In case you can't click on the above to read it, here is the pertinent part of my point in the blog:
"The media discovered and promoted Carter. As Lawrence Shoup noted in his 1980 book The Carter Presidency and Beyond:
"What Carter had that his opponents did not was the acceptance and support of elite sectors of the mass communications media. It was their favorable coverage of Carter and his campaign that gave him an edge, propelling him rocket-like to the top of the opinion polls. This helped Carter win key primary election victories, enabling him to rise from an obscure public figure to President-elect in the short space of 9 months."

It appears to me that from the very first, the media had decided that BO was to be the nominee and has spent the last year ramming him down our collective throats. Never is history has the media played such a self-important roll in an election. When did reporting the news turn into a bully pulpit for persons with absolutely no credentials supporting their roll as political scientists?
The "Powers That Be" and I mean the MONEY that runs this country (and the media) wants a candidate that they can shape to their will and who will do their bidding. THEY DESPISE THE CLINTONS because no matter what they did, they could not bring them down or stop their popularity with the people of America. And as much as I would like to think otherwise...they are not going to let a "Broad" have that kind of power, especially THIS BROAD who has pretty much told them they can kiss her behind. They have tried anything and everything along with every trick-in-the book and the Clintons simply WILL NOT GO AWAY!
I have quit watching any news on television. I have sent letters (real letters with a stamp!) to all the major news networks and to a lot of their advertisers. I have told them that they have allianated me and are losing more of their viewers every day. I want someone to report the news. I DO NOT want their opinion and I want the news to cover all sides of a story. It is then up to me, as a reasonable, thoughtful and intelligent adult,(?) to MAKE UP MY OWN MIND.
Even if I were not voting For Senator Clinton, I would still resent the effort that the Media has made to choose a candidate for me. Who the hell are these guys and gals and what makes them think we give a tinker's damn what they think? Honest-to-God...I have not watched television news for nearly a month and not surprisingly, I don't miss it a lick!

"Democratic candidate Senator Barack Obama soundly defeated Hillary Clinton in Wyoming."
versus
"Clinton wins Nevada"
"Hillary Clinton eked out a controversial win in Nevada but failed to best Obama in the delegate count."
(The Triumph of Obama in Wyoming gave him 7 delegates and Clinton 5 delegates.
Mention of that fact, if any, was consistently buried in the stories, several paragraphs away from the headlines.)

I too have turned off Air America and Randi Rhodes, for good, during my evening commute. Her Hillary bashing knows no bounds. And I do mean "bashing" - the last I tuned in Randi and a caller were wondering why Obama doesn't just "knock her out", and used quite a few more violent metaphors for taking Hillary out of the race. Forget for a moment that he can't do that - in spite of his support he's just too weak. But it amazes me that a seemingly intelligent person like Randi Rhodes doesn't realize she is giving subtle support to violence against women. She has also been stooping to personal ridicule.
Listening to her made me way too angry. I now listen to music on my way home.

As I told Randi in my email, she is entitled to support and vote for any candidate she chooses - as an American citizen. It seems that increasingly people are recognizing how biased the media have been toward Obama, especially CNN and MSNBC. I've read several articles regarding it, and hear more a more people talking about it. It occurred to me that it would not be all that unusual for the media to actually determine the winner of an election by casting the candidate in a favorable light, or helping defeat a candidate by portraying him/her in a negative way.
However, this may be the first time in history that because the media continually tried to push a partcular candidate on the public, the opposite of the desired effect occured. I think that's what is happening. Obviously, there are other factors at play, many of them, but I think that people are turning on Obama, in part, because the media's constant praise of him is getting old and their intention is so obvious. Keep it up CNN and MSNBC - you're working for us now!

All I know is that everytime MSNBC gets smug about Obama's alleged inevitable win, I donate more $ to Hillary's campaign. While I still hold the the majority of America is stupid, (sorry -- but a lot of people voted for George W. Bush!), I think that most people know what it feels like to be counted out before you've had a fair chance to compete. At this point, I actually think MSNBC's and CNN's obvious disrespect for Hillary and the democratic process is backlashing. Don't give up hope for Hillary and WORK as hard as she does!

hey gang! below find my letter i sent to all the media i could find. i agree....the media is as bad as the kool-aid people are drinking!!!
The media is deciding this election!
Is it just me and the countless other people on the internet that think the television media just literally stinks with the way they are covering the candidates?!!! So many of us are sending feedback daily about how poor they are covering this election. Sure, they have all the flashy sets and “the best political team” on…or everyone and NOT their mothers who have such authoritative opinions on who the candidates will be. Has anyone ever read the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand or not? Has anyone ever watched any old tapes of Edward R. Murrow? Where is the beef in the tv journalism anymore. It appears they have all sold out to corporate dictators. None of them have any clue who “rourke” is! I have always believed in my country and its ability to report us the news…..i have lost a lot of faith since this election began! Perhaps it is MORE than “rocket science” to give unbiased reporting on television anymore. Perhaps that is why so many of us have turned to print journalism. It seems there are still a few “rourkes” left at the newspapers. People need to stand up and take back this election from the television media. They truly are treating us all like we are “stepford” folks….and perhaps that is what many have turned into. All I know is that many…including myself…that have boycotted CNN, MSNBC, and even the little guys! To all you print journalists out there….help those of us doing the hiring for this position of president…..be heard. We must all stand up for our country and make our own, EDUCATED, decisions!

Obama laid a real rotten egg when he compared his Pastor to his Grandmother. Of all the things that seemed to offend in that speech (other than the fact that he didn't disown Rev Wrong) that was the crown-jewel.
I find it equally disturbing though that the media allows a comparsion about "honesty" between Obama saying [I'm paraphrasing here] "No idea that my pastor is a bigot" to later saying "Oh yeah, I knew...but hey he's old (like gram-gram) and black so it's ok". to Hillary's mis-rememberences of a trip she took many years ago.
Hello people I don't remember what the hell I ate for breakfast last week! Hillary has been on jaunt after jaunt, it's not at all suprising to me that she mis-remembered that. Here's a simple memory-science lesson for you from a leading expert: http://www.uci.edu/experts/video.php?src=loftus&format=mov&res=high (PS don't think you're immune, all our memories are flawed.)
That said, Mr. Obama has been going to the same church year after year. His memory would be refreshed everytime he stepped in the door.
Anyway, the media seems to right now want to roast Hillary because of a reference to sniper fire, never mind that the point of her talk wasn't about that but about the accomplisments of the trip. They would seek to snuff out the still smoldering Rev Wright be WRONG controversy by making an egregiously bad comparison to Obama's "I didn't know" to Hillary's "Had to duck and cover".
It just doesn't compare.

The media isn't ignoring the hate speech, they are simply saying to their darling Obama "It's Ok baby, I forgive you".
Nevermind that some of us are still VERY concerned about what this says about Barak Obama. Which is that he lied about his knowledge of his pastors statements, reversed himself and then excused the behavior as generational, threw his grandmother under the bus, tried to minimize the critics by suggesting the quotes on YouTube were hand-picked, tried to turn his own poor judgement into a statement on the still boiling racial divide (which ironically his pastor seems good at keeping it going) and finally didn't even disown the man. If Obama was running for anything other than President, where he's supposed to represent EVERYONE black or white, then I'd probably not care about this...but Obama IS running for President and his chosen mentors DO MATTER.

I am as disgusted by the media bias as all of you. I have family members who work for CNN and they are equally disgusted by the lack of journalisic integrity displayed in this election. They must keep their true feelings for Hillary hidden in order to fit in. I can tell you CNN had the stories about Obama's association with Rezko and Rev. Wright last year but refused to allow it to be shown because they did not want to appear racist. Because of this, the same old pundits continue to spew their venom while Obama gets a free ride. Your emails will not be heard because the ratings are so high. It is only when the ratings fall will they begin to change the format. I encourage all of you to boycott CNN to send them a message. Do not respond to their blogs or online polls. Instead watch one of their rivals. (It pisses them off when FOX beats them in the ratings.) If you want to go further. Send a letter to Jim Klein or John Walton who are in charge of CNN and Turner Broadcasting and let them know exactly why their ratings will be dropping. That is the only thing that will get across to them. I also encourage letters to their major advertising clients. Remember CNN, MSN etc. are businesses. Losing money will motivate change.

Larry King's show last night had a segment about "Should she quit?".
I guess this was in response to certain Senators raising the issue again.
Perhaps those senators were unhappy with the recent poll that showed 22% felt that Hillary should withdraw, and 22% felt that Obama should withdraw.
The Hillary supporters on the program did alright in her defense. Finally, a growing number of pundants are pointing out that Obama can't win the necessary delegates either, and that it all boils down to the super delegates.
This notion that she should quit is just proposterous. They claim that it will tear up the party, but they never offer real proof as to how it would. Such claims are often voiced on the air, but rarely challenged sufficiently. Niether Hillary nor Obama are tearing up the Party, it's strictly the media attempting to do that - specifically Obama supporters in the media. They fuel the fire of controversy and blame Hillary for the result. I have only heard one pundant point this out.
Its obvious that they are scared that the super delegates will choose Hillary because she is more electable, which she is. She can win against McCain based on issues. Obama, in my opinion, cannot. This Rev. Wright issue
is a demonstration that Obama is a 20-year follower of someone who lacks traditional decency and true American values.
Meanwhile, Ed Schultz needs a reality check. His show was okay last year, but now he is promoting division within the party with his stance in favor of Obama - continually making excuses for him. If Schultz really doesn't want the Democratic Party to be torn up, as he calls it, then he needs to do his part and just stop talking. Period.
There's no reason why the liberal media cannot promote both Democratic candidates. Equal promotion. Equal time. Instead they are, in effect, running a Republican type campaign against Hillary just so their personal choice can win. That doesn't serve viewers or listeners, nor does it serve the country.
Anyway, this is my first post. I'm glad others are seeing the same thing I am. For quite a while I've been asking "Is anyone else noticing this?!!" haha

I read about the boycott of those network before I posted. But, what if, through the help of the super delegates, HIllary wins the nomination?
Is the boycott off?
Is this a matter of, "you are unfairly biased against our candidate so we are boycotting your network, but if our candidate wins the nomination, we will once again return to normal viewing of your network." ? I don't want to give them the impression that their network bias has already won.
If Obama won the nomination, I would boycott, because it would have been their network-campaigning strategy and lack of news reporting neutrality, that put him over the top. And, in that event, I would do more than boycott, I would directly contact the head offices of the corporations that sponsored them - the advertizers. But that is not the situation now.
Personally, I don't see taking the stance of boycotting now, and having it be just temporary. If Hillary wins the nomination, I will not exclude myself to watching the McCain channel.
As it is, I stopped watching MSNBC before I came here because Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann have gone totally delusional. Olbermann is flat out embarrassing.
I also stopped listening to Air America because I can't take it anymore. They aren't supporting the Party, they are actively dividing it. When it comes to radio, I don't know who to listen to, because I'm not up on who's worth listening to.

Musicdude,
You are echoing some of our concerns. e.g., I and several others here have sent already published information to media asking for which certain facts have not been coverdd... and even that has not made any difference. When we see that media fails to ask the most obvioius next question, it reeks of bias a certain way. Since we continuously communicate with each other thru this forum, we are very aware of what is happening out there.
We can view transcripts of media shows; but we will not watch and give them ratings for their advertisements. Fewer of us will watch the show. This does send them the message from our feet/remote controls.
Yes, if we see them giving coverage to Hillary or a positive show.. we share amongst ourselves thru this focum and we switch it on. Same with a media anchor who gives a fair shake to both parties.. but one-sided for Barack is something we dont want to see much of.. as it is pointless. we come across it all day long, all over the place.
Yes, if Hillary is nominated, and then if media gives good coverage to Hillary I am ok with that. The test will be pretty much the same - neutral coverage or favorable coverage ae both welcome.
Thanks.

sick of the media, they are brownshirts doing the dirty work for the powerful in this country who want hillary clinton out of this race
i applaud her for her dignity under such adversity, how the media can continually denounce her for bosnia, a mistake, yes which she admitted, but is that what is going to help this country with all its problems
we have a racist who is in bed with the likes of rezko, ayers, wright, criticising jews, italians, damning this country and its people, the likes of michelle obama now in love with this country because her own race has accepted her, for what, what have these people done to help anyone outside of themselves, the american idiots who cannot see beyond their noses
go hillary, we are on your side, inspite of the lies of the media a** wipes
This afternoon when we returned home, I just happen to checkout Hillary on CNN, the Counterfeit Negative News Network .She was wonderful as usual, answering questions and showing her skill as an experienced leader. No sooner had I gotten into the message, than one of the CNN reporters, interrupted the event with some negative comments about Hillary being behind and it would be hard for her to win. Bam! It hit me like a thunderbolt. If CNN doesn’t believe that Hillary can win, why in the heck are they following her campaign stops then? Then, as usual, this same reporter states that after the commercial, they would get back with that person [O-man] at his speech in Pennsylvania. So, here I type, upset but more determined than ever to make sure Hillary will not have to worry if another person has her back—My family and I are in it to the end. Hillary has been publicly humiliated, betrayed, maligned and discriminated against and by her own political party. From here on in, the Democrat party will be known as the undemocratic party of Barack Hussein Obama. They all have been bought and paid for and will regret it in the end.
Yesterday, when Senator Leahy pronounced that Hillary should give up—something inside of me rose up and realized that he, nor Richardson, nor Dodd, nor Kennedy, nor Kerry, nor Nasty Nancy, nor CNN, nor MSNBC, nor Brazille, nor Matthews, nor Olbermann, nor Kos, nor Huffington, nor Moveon, nor True Majority, nor Democratic Strategists who are Supporters of Obama, nor Obomatrons, nor Dean, nor the superdelegates who switched from Hillary to BHO, nor anyone else, is speaking for me!! I’m a Hillary Clinton supporter and I am proud of it!
I am not tolerating this “give up and go home” mentality another day. Despite what they say, I know, like so many other Hillary’s supporters can agree on, we know that Obama is not qualified or should be even running in this election, especially as, President of the United States.
What is happening right now is the famous “rope-a-dope” move. Muhammad Ali was excellent in creating an “illusion” in the mind of his opponents. The goal is to tell someone they have “loss” before they have a chance to engage in battle. This strategy has been used for thousands of years—so, it is nothing new for the DNC to pull this ploy and for nothing else, to convince Hillary’s supporters to have doubt. Well, sorry boys and Nasty Nancy, it’s on now! You want a fight, you have one and when it is all over, you will all be defeated.
Hillary is the one! :):):)

Regarding media bias ...
Several people have spoken of the need to let the media know how we feel, demanding that they stop what they're doing, etc. These are appeals, appeals the media don't have to listen to if they don't want to. And they don't want to. They look down their noses at the hoi polloi who don't have the benefit of their wisdom, and make or break candidates as they choose.
So, what are the powerless to do?
It is often said that, if you don't vote, you don't have a right to criticize the outcome; but this is incredibly shallow. One might say, if you don't participate in the process, you don't have a right to criticize the outcome; I'm not even sure that's correct, but it's certainly more accurate.
Your vote is your choice of which candidate you think is better. When neither candidate is better, when both candidates are fatally flawed, or when the candidate has been foisted on the electorate, no true choice exists. To exercise your vote when no true choice exists is to bestow the mantle of legitimacy on an illegitimate process, and the illusion of a mandate upon a candidate where no mandate exists. To vote in this situation is to perpetuate a lie that has many facets, one of which is that the process is working, that government remains representative. In this situation, voting is not a civic duty but an immoral act.
Some other countries add "None of the Above" to the slate of candidates. If this were true in the US, then that would be the choice when no true choice exists. Unfortunately, we don't have that option.
So, I will not vote for president if Hillary is driven from this election. I will still have a right to complain, however; for, although I won't be voting, I will be participating. By not voting, I will be saying, "This election is a fraud, and I will not support the illusion that it is genuine."
The power to withhold approval of one's government is a great power retained by the people in any corrupted political system. Why have some dictators literally forced their people to the polls? Because they need their countries, and the world, to believe they have the support of their people. In America, politicians encourage the electorate to vote, not because of some deep-rooted belief in the holiness of the process, but because they need the illusion of a mandate.
If Hillary is driven from this election, the best possible action for all those to take who believe that the choice between Obama and McCain is a meaningless one would be to not vote for president.
When enough people abandon the process, both the kings and the kingmakers are exposed for what they are. They are naked emperors, and everyone knows it.
If, as has been suggested, this is the media's big play to "come into its own," don't waste your time sending it petitions and emails. There is no point in the antelopes and zebras begging the lions for mercy. Don't vote for president on Election Day. That will send the only message they will ever heed.

MSNBC seems to be especially hypocritical,
Msnbc was pressured to not only condemn the comments of, but also disassociate themselves from Don Imus after his racially charged comments.
But yet they still commentarily favor Obama despite his association with Wright.
If MSNBC had not fired Imus, they would have lost advertizers who didn't want to be associated with an entity that was in turn associated with Imus and his racial comments.
Now they are advertizing with MSNBC, and its favoritism for Obama, who in turn is associated with racially biased Wright.
Oh the irony. I'm surprised Fox hasn't picked up on this yet. the advertizers have some explaining to do!
By the way, Monica Novotny drives me nuts. She stops the newscast to broadcast pro-Obama propaganda daily. She's just SO naive that it's embarrassing. hahaha
She is a news anchor primarily, BUT she is also listed as a correspondant for Keith Olbermann- so yeah there's the connection with Obama-bias.
Fortunately, she's young enough to start a new career. If I get her email address, I will gladly point her in the right direction.

there is something to be said for not having tv service. i never see these news channels.
funny me. i ignore the polls, internet harrassment, read both candidates experience, positions, ect, and think for myself!
i refuse to accept that people will vote only because the media tells them how. the more the media/obama push against senator clinton, the more it makes me want to ask, what are they so afraid of?
this constant bashing is going to backfire. either obama will be exposed in time, or the republicans will take care of it. i hope it happens before it is too late. but i do sleep better with the knowledge that i do not believe obama has one iota of a change of becoming president.

With the obvious unobjective journalistic views, and I use the word journalistic very loosely, it could only lead one to wonder... what else have these same journalists been biased about, reported in a biased fashion and for how long? What aren't we really being told?
One can only wonder - not to mention feel impotent as these members of the brotherhood of pressdom have and continue to selfishly skew the facts and instead spew nothing more than personal opinion. This is disconcerting to say the least and should provoke many to feel wanting of facts instead of the constant barrage of twisted perceptions. What happened to journalistic integrity?
Since when has it become the duty of journalists to choose a presidential candidate for the voters? Further, since when has it become their duty to shove that choice down our throats? Seems to me that if you removed all the articles, the videos, the commentary, the pundit views and the rest of the rubbish from the land, these primaries would be far different today and the results would equally match that difference.
If journalists wish to vote in the election process, they are afforded that right, but to barrage other voters with their ubiquitous blathering and worshipping for their chosen messiah is careless and unprofessional, those two descriptions being the least of their malfeasance and unethical prejudice. Every last one of these traitors of the American voters should be fired - or have we soon forgotten when Dan Rather was fired for his blatant partisanship in a past election and for the forged documents scandal. Were not for that document scandal, invariably wrong, should Bush have been elected?
This is hilarious in the current atmosphere of these primaries where the media is so blatant with their pandemic pronouncements and non-journalistic comradery not to mention nauseating oneupmanship in their brutal dismantling of what many once thought as one of the truly admired women in political history.
Their sickening stench hiding behind paychecks that when combined could easily remove poverty singlehandedly provides yet another means by which to increase their already excessively viewed manuveuring. As for these primaries, watching the same twists and turns of the superdelegates is just as disconcerting and incoherent.
You can smell something, that's for certain, but nothing remotely familiar to our olfactory memories. It is disturbing to see so many who claim fame to knowing everything and yet display quite the opposite, that those same persons would find solace in these obvious crimes against them. What happened with using that grey matter which rests between the deaf ears and blind eyes of so many. Perhaps for some, it is easy to only discern the worst while others would prefer to seek truth.
Jesus said "...you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32 So as we cannot depend on a Jesus in the journalistic community, we are left with nothing short of devilish truths.
So I say again, what else have these same journalists been biased about, reported in a biased fashion and for how long? What aren't we really being told? Who will be the annointed one who will finally tell us who made what promises and what those promises are? Journalists continue to leave me feeling much like Moses, wandering the desert thirsty for the truth.
I choose to make an objective decision.

Even John McCain acknowledged that the media and party leaders are the ones who selected Obama:
Senator Clinton has earned great respect for her tenacity and courage. The media often overlooked how compassionately she spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans, and she deserves a lot more appreciation than she sometimes received. As the father of three daughters, I owe her a debt for inspiring millions of women to believe there is no opportunity in this great country beyond their reach. I am proud to call her my friend. Pundits and party elders have declared that Senator Obama will be my opponent.

I would not have to worry that my drink would be drugged--and I'd be brainwashed into agreeing with his master plan.

The media has chosen Obama for Presidential Candidate of the Democratic Party and now that Hillary's corpse is smoking in their rear view mirror the biased based media will beging to take aim at John Mccain.
I watched the Dem Primary reporting events on CNN and Fox and I saw various presenters and invited guests going overboard to ruin Hillary's chances. It was most times totally disgusting and dishonest selective reporting calculated to destroy Hillary, her family and her campaign. I hardly heard anyone say anything nice about her. What's your country coming to? The Public cannot always ignore this nasty stuff, much like advertising some of it sticks. I'm surprised Hillary did so well up against these evil and powerful forces. Now watch them get to work on McCain. He'll be easy meat by comparison.

It wasn't only the media. The Democratic Party did this, and so did the supers, Edwards and Kennedy jumping to rescue BO when the worst about him was in the news, and to distract from Hillary's big win. Hillary kept winning, and the supers kept rescuing Obama.
The dirty tricks in the York County party in Maine were designed to keep Hillary delegates away from the convention; and at the convention, more tricks and slease. I was so angry and ashamed, I planned to quit the party asap, but first, I'm a delegate, so of course I had to hang in to represent Hillary, first.
I am still ashamed to be part of this party, which is not at all what I thought it was. Any party that calls itself "democratic" would not disenfranchise millions of people, and give THEIR votes to a different candidate! And of course, any party that has "super" delegates for the sole purpose of out-voting voters is a dictatorship, and doesn't belong in America. I just couldn't believe how our so-called "leaders" got so sick, and I was ashamed of my heroes, who rolled over for them to support an inferior candidate. Especially my rich heroes, with cancer. You would think they would think of the rest of us at such a time, but they didn't. And they deserted their professed causes.
Hillary is still the most popular candidate. I cannot imagine what they did to her to make her concede.

No matter how non-existent his debate skills..etc, people still found a way to carve out an excuse for him. ''
He always 'won' a debate against a woman who was infinently more articulate and poised in difficult sittuations. But this wasn't even the real serious issue.
Even when his name had voluntarily not been on ballots (and he should have not been able to recieve votes), the powers that be instead decided he was 'entitled' to recieve votes anyway! Were I a voter in those states, I would have been especially PISSED at the rulling. I'd be rioting!!

Eridon said am still ashamed to be part of this party, which is not at all what I thought it was. Any party that calls itself "democratic" would not disenfranchise millions of people, and give THEIR votes to a different candidate!
Perhaps we need to remember that "Democratic" is just a name for the party and look at how that came to be. Originally, in the early 1800's it began as the Democratic Republicans to distinguish itself from the Federalist Party. The Federalists were more for centralized power in the federal government. The Democratic Republicans wanted greater recognition of the states and, to a degree people. Our country is not a pure democracy with all issues decided by votes of the individuals. It is a representative democracy in which we elect people to represent us and legislate for us. It is a republic made up of states. That was some of the thinking that went into the selection of the name Democratic Republican Party. In time the party evolved and split. And it became the Democrats while a new party the Republicans was formed. Over time these have become labels for our major parties, but do not always reflect their positions at any given time -- nor reflect their actions.
Currently, it's my thought at least that the party whose name best reflects their core beliefs is the Libertarian which stands for small government, less regulation, less interference of government in lives of the people and greater self-reliance by the people and the states and local communities. Not that any party is pure, of course, people being as they are.
