Luntz had his group together and almost all but I think 2 people have gotten off the fence and going McCain/Palin. Great remarks by everyone. "She's one of us." "This was another 9/11 and she shone through." All good remarks!
I thought she was just extraordinary. What a good debate and I'm so happy she took on someone with 35 years experience so significantly well.

I was really impressed. I thought she did great.
As for Biden, coupla comments:
1. When he flashes that totally fake cheesy smile, I am sure to feel ill. It is SO BEYOND fake.
2. I thought the almost-tears moment was manufactured. I am sorry. I don't mean to seem unsympathetic. I just had the feeling he was reaching for it. He had mentioned it not even a minute before, but he Just had to go back there one more time. His doing so just didn't seem spontaneous to me; it seemed forced. So sue me, and I'm sorry to sound harsh. It's just that he trots this out a lot, and I think it's inappropriate to do so except in the most general of terms.
3. Biden starts out a lot of his statements with "LOOK." He states this very aggressively. Obama does this too. It's a conversational style that's intended to make a point in a very dominating, aggressive way. It drives me nuts. It belittles the listener, commanding him. Whoever teaches that style of oratory ought to be drawn and quartered. BOTH OF THEM DO IT. LOOK, it's got to

I think she really connected with the average American and that's going to be very important.

Sarah was great! The more Americans know her, the more there is to love.
Her answers were nearly perfect and she was charming and good humored. Biden wasn't bad, but he was boring by comparison.
Sarah distanced the ticket from Bush by lightly teasing that Biden was dwelling on the past. Sarah did dodge the Cheney question and that mildly bothered me because Cheney's denial of branch identification is so irritating. I guess she just couldn't call it as such.
Overall, no gaffes and Sarah won the hearts and minds. IMO.

Don't feel guilty. I think our compliant was a preemptive strike and forced Ifil to watch out. If we didn't called her out, she would have went against Palin with Biden. And it will turn out to be a 2 against 1 debate.

Biden may have been boring, but I think that he seemed more boring because he was paired with such an outgoing and genuine personality in Sarah Palin. She had us nodding, laughing and smiling. She talked to us. Sarah Palin only needs to be herself. No one should try to make her into something she isn't. The people of Alaska know that she's a gem and now the rest of us do, too. CNN had Solidad O'brien do a focus group... She asks who thought Biden did better and then goes and talks with more of those people!! There were ONLY 4 and she caleld it out. BUT THERE WERE A LOT MORE HANDS THAT WENT UP FOR WHO THOUGHT PALIN DID BETTER.. AND SHE DID NOT COUNT THAT NUMBER AND REPORT!! She ended on a note in favor of Obama!
Solidad O'Brien also said that on the dial, people did not like the folksy words.. She is trying to influence the people's opinion of Sarah Palin. Quite the contrary, Sarah Palin connected better with her very relatable words.
Bill Schneider came and reported that their poll reported Biden won.
HA-HA!! They are so jaded they dont even want to report the numbers from their own focus group accurately.

That was obvious, but Sarah did extremely well and brought the conversation back to the topics she wanted to expand on. Also, my husband happened to set it to NBC to watch and I left it there, primarily out of curiosity since I don't watch it anymore. Even though I didn't listen to the "analysis" for very long, I was really surprised at the response of the commentators. The Geraldine Ferraro was on, too, and even though she's a dem and is supporting the dem ticket, you could see - and she admitted as much - that she was rooting for Sarah to do well.

I have to say, I am THRILLED with how well Palin did tonight. She didn't talk to us as a Governor or a politician, she talked to us as a real person that's a mother and a member of everyday life. I thought that Biden came across as a crotchety old man at many times. When Palin would get the best of him with her fresh talk of the common person, he would become aggitated and argumentative. But she kept it positive the whole night and really gave me something to feel good about!
One point tonight really scored with me. The first one was the whole gay marriage issue. So many GLBTQ think that Obama is going to give them the world and are mistaken in that. Biden tonight admitted that there really isn't much difference between the Obama/Biden ticket than there is for McCain/Palin in regards to GLBTQ rights. Palin appeased her Conservative base while reached out to our community more than most GOPers would, and as much as our current Democrats on the ticket will. So, this makes the GLBTQ issues a draw.
I'm sure that I'll have more to say soon! :-)

On the messing up of names .... was it my imagination that at one point (not sure where, exactly as I'm pretty tired from work tonight) .... that Sarah called Biden ....... Obiden?
I swear I heard that and the camera went straight to Joe and he laughed.
I'll have to go back through my dvr and see if I can find exactly what part I heard that in.
She was cool, though. So cool. Loved it! WTG Sarah!
She did say "O Biden." :)
I dropped in on DU for a second and grabbed this brilliant post of Biden's debate strategy.
The secret is that Biden doesn't want to draw any attention right now...
Let Sarah get all the attention, and people will continue to discover how ill-prepared she is. Joe can just sit back and be the under the radar attack dog. There was no reason for him to tear her up tonight. He won the debate by staying above the fray.
It's perfect! Yeah, good plan, Joe... stay under the radar. LOL

I'm up watching Nighline and freaky little George S. gave Biden an A and Sarah an A-. I'm so pissed at him. Today, he said it was do or die for Sarah, that if she didn't do well, it was curtains for McCain. What a crock.
Now, he and the cross-eyed co-host of Nightline are defending Biden on the tears. I wasn't watching closely when that happened, so I'm not going to comment. Now George (I'm biting my tongue here), is saying they both had the same number of inaccuracies. We know that ISN'T TRUE.
I HATE THE MSM! George is now talking about how McCain just pulled out of Michigan and how this debate wasn't a game changer. George freaking wishes! What midget of a man, and I mean that metaphorically, not physically, which is a bigger insult!!!

Everywhere I post, I plug this forum.
You guy and gals ROCK!
For me, this election is about YOU!
I say YOU because I'm a newbie here, and I wasn't actively supporting Hillary in the Primaries. (I was a Romney girl! ha!) But actually, Hillary was my 2nd choice (me and Ann Coulter agreed on THAT!)
And I've always loved and admired the Clintons. I am not a long-time Republican. I voted for Bill in '96 and Gore in 2000. I just started voting GOP in 2004 (Kerry just turned me OFF).
So, I say this election is still up for grabs!

First of all I would rather vote for Obama then to vote for Joe Biden. In fact that is my whole debate with people in the hood. Biden is a very evil man and he is worst then Obama. I would much rather have Obama then Biden. Biden is a piece of garbage that should have lost his seat a long time ago. There is a special place in hell for Biden and Jay Rockerfeller.
