Fun article about predatory lending:
Consumer Finance, Debt, and Risk Management
The session was moderated by Douglas D. Evanoff, senior financial economist and assistant vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Participants were David A. Levy, vice chairman and director of forecasting of the Levy Institute, and Karen Shaw Petrou, president of ISD/Shaw, Inc. Both focused on consumer debt, Levy from the perspective of consumers and Shaw Petrou from that of lenders.
Consumer debt has greatly increased and this aggressive spending is the primary reason for the economy's strength, Levy said. Household debt as a percentage of disposable income is at a record-high 85 percent; those at the lower end of the income scale are most in debt. Levy attributes much of this increased spending to aggressive lending by banks and a strong stock market. Lower-income households appear to be borrowing to stay afloat. Middle-income households are using debt to enhance their standard of living. At the higher end of the income scale, stock market gains are encouraging households to increase spending. Levy warned that this aggressive spending cannot be sustained. Lenders are tightening credit standards, and if the stock market turns down, high-income households might decrease their spending. These two changes could reduce consumer spending and that will slow the economy.
But consumers who want to continue spending can still find willing lenders, Shaw Petrou said. The subprime lending market, which lends to high-risk clients, is very active. But it is a dangerous business that Shaw Petrou predicts will collapse. To turn a profit, subprime lenders must charge hefty fees up front and serve a large number of clients in hopes of roping in enough who will actually pay off their loan. But these clients are migrating to prime lenders because prime lenders are changing their methods for determining credit risk. They are finding that many potential clients once considered too risky due to mistakes in their past are not so risky after all. As a result, they are offering such people loans with lower fees and interest than those offered by subprime lenders. This leaves subprime lenders with only the riskiest of clients.
found down in http://web.archive.org/web/20011218003246/www.levy.org/docs/report/rptmay97.html
Basically saying the economy was 'great' in the 90's due to increased spending.. but unfortunately that led to our 'bad' economy in '00 once folks increased their debt so much they were up to their limit.
It also predicts, way back then, that the subprime market would collapse at some point. AND THIS WAS FOREVER AGO!!

Nothing too earth shattering...you all are apparently much better at this than I am.
I did find an article about seven students who were expelled after fighting at a Decatur high school. Obama joined Jesse Jackson in the protest and introduced legistlation against zero tolerance. Sounds to be a pretty volatile situation that the government tried to interject itself in to. As someone who works in a high school in a violence-laden area, zero tolerance is what has saved the school and the students IMO.

Barack Obama
Barack Obama is running to gain the Democratic ballot line for Illinois Senate 13th District. The 13th District is Alice Palmer's old district, encompassing parts of Hyde Park and South Shore.
Mr. Obama graduated from Columbia University and promptly went into community organizing for the Developing Communities Project in Roseland and Altgeld Gardens on the far south side of Chicago. He went on to Harvard University, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review. He graduated with a law degree. In 1992, he was Director of Illinois Project Vote, a voter registration campaign that made Carol Moseley Braun's election to the U.S. Senate much easier than it would have been. At present, he practices law in Judson Miner's law firm and is President of the board of the Annenberg Challenge Grant which is distributing some $50 million in grants to public school reform efforts.
What best characterizes Barack Obama is a quote from an article in Illinois Issues, a retrospective look at his experience as a community organizer while he was completing his degree at Harvard:
"... community organizations and organizers are hampered by their own dogmas about the style and substance of organizing. Most practice ... a 'consumer advocacy' approach, with a focus on wrestling services and resources from outside powers that be. Few are thinking of harnessing the internal productive capacities, both in terms of money and people, that already exist in communities." (Illinois issues, September, 1988)
Luckily, Mr. Obama does not have any opposition in the primary. His opponents have all dropped out or were ruled off the ballot. But if you would like to contribute to his campaign, make the check payable to Friends of Barack Obama, 2154 E. 71st, Chicago, IL 60649. If you would like to become involved in his campaign, call the headquarters at (312) 363-1996.
-----------And also!!!
Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King's March on Washington in the 1960s wasn't simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on Buchanan's.
One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama's campaign is "what does it take to create productive communities", not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left. He felt the state government has three constructive roles to play.
The first is "human capital development". By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a "workforce preparation strategy". Public education requires equality in funding. It's not that money is the only solution to public education's problems but it's a start toward a solution. The current proposals for welfare reform are intended to eliminate welfare but it's also true that the status quo is not tenable. A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the "social wage" approach used by many social democratic labor parties. By "workforce preparation strategy", Barack Obama simply meant a coordinated, purposeful program of job training instead of the ad hoc, fragmented approach used by the State of Illinois today.
The state government can also play a role in redistribution, the allocation of wages and jobs. As Barack Obama noted, when someone gets paid $10 million to eliminate 4,000 jobs, the voters in his district know this is an issue of power not economics. The government can use as tools labor law reform, public works and contracts.

Found an article on Ayers and Obama speaking together in 1997 at Chicago University - organized by Michelle Obama.
http://www-news.uchicago.edu/releases/97/971104.juvenile.justice.shtml
Ayers, who spent a year observing the Cook County Temporary Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, is one of four panelists who will speak on juvenile justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the C-Shop of the Reynolds Club, 5706 S. University Ave.
The juvenile justice system was founded by Chicago reformer Jane Addams, who advocated the establishment of a separate court system for children which would act like a “kind and just parent” for children in crisis.
One hundred years later, the system is “overcrowded, under-funded, over-centralized and racist,” Ayers said.
Michelle Obama, Associate Dean of Student Services and Director of the University of Chicago Community Service Center, hopes bringing issues like this to campus will open a dialogue between members of the University community and the broader community.
“We know that issues like juvenile justice impact each of us who live in the city of Chicago. This panel gives community members and students a chance to hear about the juvenile justice system not only on a theoretical level, but from the people who have experienced it.”

In 1993, Senator Obama was named by Crain's Chicago Business as one of "40 under 40" outstanding young leaders in the City of Chicago. He is the recipient of the 1995 Legal Eagle Award from IVI-IPO for his work in bringing Illinois into compliance with the National Voter Registration Act (Motor-Voter)..... Senator Obama serves on the boards of several organizations including the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, where he is chairman, the Joyce Foundation, the Woods Fund of Chicago, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law, and Public Allies.
The Joyce Foundation's position on gun control has led to frequent opposition and criticism from gun rights groups, particularly the National Rifle Association

Should a child ever be called a “super predator?”
A panel at the University of Chicago debates the merits of the juvenile justice system
Children who kill are called “super predators,” “people with no conscience,” “feral pre-social beings"–and “adults.”
William Ayers, author of A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court(Beacon Press, 1997), says “We should call a child a child. A 13-year-old who picks up a gun isn’t suddenly an adult. We have to ask other questions: How did he get the gun? Where did it come from?”
The panel, which marks the 100th anniversary of the juvenile justice system in the United States, is part of the Community Service Center’s monthly discussion series on issues affecting the city of Chicago.
The event is free and open to the public.
Ayers will be joined by Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the University of Chicago Law School, who is working to block proposed legislation that would throw more juvenile offenders into the adult system; Randolph Stone, Director of the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Chicago; Alex Correa, a reformed juvenile offender who spent 7 years in Cook County Temporary Detention Center; Frank Tobin, a former priest and teacher in the Detention Center who helped Correa; and Willy Baldwin, who grew up in public housing and is currently a teacher in the Detention Center.

At the bottom:
ORGANIZING AND ISLAM
Organizing in neighborhoods has taken two paths that reflect historic dichotomy between integrationist and nationalist strategies. Many top conununity leaders collaborate on urban issues through city's grasgroots network, forging multi-racial coalitions, while others take black nationalist approach, looking only within the African-American community for leadership and resources.
In first category are Ani Russell of community policing network, 312-461-0444; Jacky Grimshaw, former strategist for Harold Washington now working an community transportation issues; 773-278-4800, ext. 133; and Barack Obama, 773-684-4809, whose work to empower blacks has included his law practice, community organizing, philanthropy and most recently electoral politics: he is a candidate for state senate. A quiet leader with broad vision of empowerment and redevelopment in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood is Sokoni Karanja, 773-373-5700, whose nonprofit Centers for New Horizons provides social services, youth programs, education and child care.
Chicago is national center of black nationalist thought and organization. Head of the nation's largest secular black-nationalist organization, the National Black United Front, Conrad Worrill, 773-268-5658, is a professor at Northeastern Illinois University's Center for Inner City Studies and was prominent speaker at last year's Million Man Man March. Another Northeastern professor, Robert Starks, 773-268-7500, heads local Task Force for Political Empowerment, along with Worrill was major organizer in Harold Washington campaigns. Radio commentator and former newspaper columnist and publisher, Lu Palmer, 773-624-0242, holds forth two nights a week on a WVON-1450AM political talk show. He founded the Black Independent Political Orgization and Chicago Black United Communities. Eddie Read, 773-663-0704, is president of both organizations mentioned above; CBUC members have shut down construction sites where blacks don't get fair share of jobs. Salim Muwakkil, 773-643-3730, is senior editor of In These Times and contributing columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. He has done extensive coverage of black activism and the black nationalist movement.
Chicago is home base for African-American Muslim organizations. Muslims have been visible forces for organizing and stability in many neighborhoods, only some of them aligned with controversial leader Louis Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam. Organizer Kublai Toure, 773-538-7217, is a member of Jim Brown's Amer-I-Can youth organization, with projects ranging from helping arrange gang traces to trips to Chicago Cubs baseball Sitines for public housing youth. Mikail Bilal, 773-721-6588, is chek of the Muslim addiction-prevention group Millati Wami, with twice-weekly meetings on South Drexel St. for recovering substance abusers. Abdul Rashid Akbar is the Muslim chaplin at Cook County jail, 773-721-6588, where many incarcerated African-Americans convert to Islam. The Nation of Islam's contact point for the media and editor-chief of The Final Call newspaper is James Muhammad, 773-602-1230. Ayesha Mustafaa reports on the larger Muslim community as editor of The Muslim Journal, 312-243-7600.

Where did it come from?”Ayers, who spent a year observing the Cook County Temporary Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, is one of four panelists who will speak on juvenile justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the C-Shop of the Reynolds Club, 5706 S. University Ave.

A 13 year could steal the gun...as in to rob a gun store, a friend of his parents, etc. Ayers used to steal...he set bombs...knowing full well of the possibilities. A 13 year old needs to be taught a conscience somewhere between the ages of birth and 4yrs. They need to know that once shot the person that they are shooting at won't necessarily get back up. These socialistic do-gooders should be out there getting these kids BEFORE they start killing. They are not doing as much good after the fact. They aren't practicing what they are preaching which is what Obama and his friends do.

One would have to wonder about Google's intent for doing this. Sure they're using the excuse that it's a 10 year anniversary thing, but given their backing of Obama and knowing people would be doing searches for all things Obama related, it makes you go hmmm?
Was all the real meat concerning Obama already sanitized, leaving people to run wild goose chases, aka making this nothing more than a distraction? A time waster? Another part of Obama's theme of running out the clock?
I've never believed in freebies and am always the skeptic be it for good or bad reasons.

Barack J. Obama is on more than one website, so I really doubt it's a typo.
Very strange, have found Barack J. Obama on several different articles....
Agreed. This is worth looking into. Was he hiding H for a long time by supplying J through his office spokespeople?
The reference to photo negative that is coming up is of the father. It is a database index.. which means they have it in storage. No interest.

This is the first article that I have found that has some information about his time at Occidental College. They also mention a girlfriend. Wonder who she was. It appears that Obamas first political speech was also the start of his fake stage shows. Not much has changed in that area!
OBAMA FAMILY TREE, KENYA AND ABROAD
Glimpse into the future
A glimpse into the future occurred during his sophomore year, his last at Occidental, when, with the encouragement of a girlfriend, he became involved in the nationwide student movement to demand that colleges and universities divest themselves of financial interests that helped support the apartheid government of South Africa.
At a student rally, Obama rose to speak in public for the first time. “There’s a struggle going on,” he said as students playing Frisbee on the campus common turned to listen along with a throng of students and professors. “It’s happening an ocean away. But it’s a struggle that touches each and every one of us … a struggle that demands we choose sides. Not between black and white. Not between rich and poor.
No .. It’s a choice between dignity and servitude. Between fairness and injustice. Between commitment and indifference. A choice between right and wrong.”
“Go on with it, Barack! Tell it like it is!” someone shouted.
But by pre-arrangement, he was dragged off stage by two students dressed as soldiers, as an agitprop bit to dramatise the lack of free-speech rights in South Africa. As his friends pulled him away, however, he didn’t want to give up the microphone.
The audience was “clapping and cheering, and I knew that I had them, that the connection had been made … I really wanted to stay up there, to hear my voice bouncing off the crowd and returning back to me in applause. I had so much left to say.”
