Out of the Warm Up Room and Into the Ring!

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - The Pennsylvania Republican Party has released a press release criticizing Sen. Barack Obama's (D-IL) ties to former 1970s radical Bill Ayers and calling the Democrat a "terrorist's best friend."

In a written statement entitled "PAGOP: Obama - A Terrorist's Best Friend," state party chairman Robert Gleason said, ""We are electing someone to be our next Commander-in-Chief and I think it is more than fair to look into their background. The Obama Campaign admitted that Obama and Ayers were 'certainly friendly' and that says a lot about Barack Obama's character. Ayers' is a terrorist, and there is no denying that the group he founded attacked our country and killed innocent Americans.

"Obama claims that he didn't know about Ayers background as a terrorist, but I find that hard to believe. Ayers past is well known and he has been quoted in numerous articles, including in The New York Times where he said that he thought he didn't do enough and wishes that he would have set off more bombs," he added.

The comments from Gleason coincide with what pundits have said was shift in the race in favor of Obama and a stronger reliance by the McCain campaign on character attacks on the Democrat.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent the weekend in Colorado and California questioning Obama's ties to Ayers, a former member of the Weather Underground who is now a professor at the University of Illinois and who hosted an event for Obama's first campaign for state legislator in 1995.

Palin continued her attacks on Monday but observers noted some modifications, such as her refraining to again use the phrase, "palling around with terrorists" after the New York Times and CNN said the Democrat and Ayers were never that close.

Observers also noted Palin's use of the plural "terrorists." The Associate Press went so far as to say that Palin's comments against Obama were "carried a racially-tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret."

Palin is quoted by Fox as responding, "The Associated Press is wrong. The comments are about an association that has been known but hasn't been talked about and I think its fair to talk about where Barack Obama kicked off his political career... it's important for Americans to know. Its really important for Americans to start knowing who the real Barack Obama is."

Ayers is no better than Timothy McVeigh. Anyone who would set out to inflict death, fear, and violence in pursuit of political impact is a terrorist and should be imprisoned for life or executed, as McVeigh was, if his act takes innocent life. I wonder how forgiving Obama would be if he were elected and a group of people started bombing the Capitol and Pentagon in protest of his election.

Just think. If Ayres hadn't gotten off on the wiretapping technicality, he would be dead today like McVeigh.

Perhaps there would be no Obama if that had been the case!

Can't change it though, most unfortunately!
