The following is an email I received from a friend today. She doesn't know exactly who polled her, just somebody that asked her if she minded being polled.
Last night when we were watching tv, I got a phone call, asking if I would do a political poll. I said yes..I wanted to hear questions to get an idea about how they are polling.
The started off asking if I would be likely to vote. THEN, they asked my age. When I told them, they said, is there anyone in the house who is a voter who is younger than 55? When I said no, they didn't ask any more questions.
My take on this is that they only wanted young voters because they're for Obama. I think this is a good sign for McCain.

I've heard some stories that are similar to this. When the pollster doesn't recieve the answers they are looking for.......the next thing you hear is the dial tone. I heard it on talk radio last week. Several callers.

Thanks, michu, for letting us know. Yes, I think the polling is very skewed all over the country and this incident is proof that - If you're in a "Mac demographic' then we don't want your response:rolleyes:

Hey thats ok as long as it is represented as only being a poll of that age group. It is a problem if it is sold as general population polls or mixed in with a general population poll. Question wording aside.

Wow, maybe this type of polling practice is really Slanting the results of these polls.

This is a great point. The campaigns internal polling doesn't match what is being done by outside pollsters. The media is intent on pressing the Obama early victory story. All I can say is remember what the media an her own party did to Hillary.

We have a family friend who is over 70 years old and she got a call recently from a pollster. The pollster asked to speak "to the youngest person of voting age in the household". When our friend laughed and announced that she was the youngest, the caller hung up.
Must be the new strategy...

He's counting on the young people to carry the day. I wish we could set up a free beer stand about 100 yards from all the polling places. They'd soon be too drunk to care about going to vote for their savior.

Do you want to know the reason for this?
They are worried because in early voting the 18-24 year old age group has been noicably ABSENT from the lines. They have to know what's up.
At least all of the elrlier talk of the young first time voters turning out en-mass for Obama is not holding true. It is almost never bragged about anymore.

When I was young, I voted Dem. It was the seventies, and by God, I wanted somebody that represented ME!. I didn't pay any attention to issues. I didn't pay any attention to policies. All I cared about was that some old fart wasn't representing me.
Now I am middle-aged and much wiser. I don't care if the candidate is young or old. I want the candidate to represent AMERICA. I want the candidate that will do the best for out country as a whole, regardless if a particular policy will help ME or not.
Now that I am wiser, I realize it is not all about ME. It is about US. About my children. About my grand-children. About Americans.
About our country.

I think that is what happened to me this year. I NEVER fathomed that I could turn my back on the Democratic party. But, then again, I never thought the party would turn it's back on me - and it has. The fact that I have re-registered as an Independent this year is a big step forward for me.
I also am putting my son and grandkids first this year. I am scared for them, and they (up til now) have been doing well. The banks going under is changing that for them RAPIDLY. My grandkids will NEVER go homeless or without food as long as I am alive, but that is not the point. I want them to have happy lives.
This economic time in our country is like no other we have experienced. We are, and have been, on the very brink of depression for an extended period of time. Band-aids have kept us right on the edge, but they are also failing now. I HAVE to put my country first. Social programs will have to go 'out the window' for now. Fiscal Responsibility for EVERYONE is going to be a MUST to get us out of the abyss.

Asked if I was going to early voting and who was I voting for. I said McCain/Palin. Then I heard the dial tone.

Reminds me of a corporate softball team I was on...the white collar types versus the blues. The blues were much younger (and quicker and less arthritic). We had our butts kicked, every game. Until we decided to use our superior judgement and experience :D:
We chipped in, and brought a half keg of beer to each of the remaining games.
Thereafter, no matter how well they did in the early innings, we always won in the end.

Wouldn't it be the ultimate irony if these things were really happening (I hope they are) and Obama's numbers are not nearly what the pollsters are reporting. :):D

I wonder if THEY FOUND NAMES REGISTERED WHICH COULD BE REGISTERED AT YOUR ADDRESS. I am very skeptical about fraud voting.
