If I close on 12/31/08, do you think there is any value in people still being able to view the history of threads & discussions here? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think it is important to be viewed so that people can see how we evolved over time. I am embarassed by some of my posts during plan B, I was quite whacked, but who the hell will know who I am anyway?

Please leave it open for viewing. We were part of Herstory here!!!

I would like to see the view-only just so the entire election can be seen through the eyes of the people vs. the media. Plus with all the "scrubbing" going on with YouTube and Google, this may be the LONE place to see such a thing.

I still mourn the day HillarySpeaksForMe closed w/o notice because those videos were done by the people and that site too had historical context.

BTW, here is the YouTube channel for a few of the HillarySpeaksForMe videos that managed to get saved.

Oh... that's a tough one. I guess leave it as view-only.

I'm pretty sure beneath some of the crazy there is really valuable information and ideas. Despite what some people on the outside think, there was more than meets the to this forum, and there still is.

Our humor is well documented.(Yikes!)

Viewable. There's a lot of info, articles, and posts that are good references to a crazy election season. I have some saved, but it's nice to see the forum with all the old posts.

Well...you already know mine and Zhaan's answer to this from a previous thread....'for viewing purposes only' as a researchable memorial of what we all went through, especially during plan A.

I'm only speaking for Zhaan since she is on vacation and won't be back by the 31st...;)

I, too, feel that if it's closed, it should be left open for viewing. Hours and hours of research and work went into this forum. It should be accessible to anyone who is interested. Not to mention, it's a documentation of a political year that changed many of our lives. It also is an example of an odd team of disenchanted Dems and Republicans working together for awhile; proof that we can all get along if we have a common goal.

:( Ah, sorry it's closing again but I vote VIEWABLE. All the research and passion that went into this forum should remain viewable.

Thank you, Murray, for opening this forum when Hillary Clinton's official blog site forum was invaded by bots who posted horrid things about our support of Hillary and made it impossible to have any meaningful discussions there.

Take care and Happy New Year!

P ;)

P.S. Sorry I hadn't been around most of this month but my beloved dog Ashley died on Dec. 6th and I was devasted and very depressed. Also, what with Christmas and all, I just didn't have the interest I did in the past to post here.

Yes, I would agree. Keep the view and the sign-in and search so we can get to our old posts. May be the PM that way we can connect with others if needed.

Murray, Thanks for creating and hosting this haven. A good soul sent me here and it was a haven when I most needed it. I greatly appreciate all that you and the mods did to make this that haven. Thank you.

Internet is the new source for news--the MSM sure didn't do it's job the last two years. HCF is a valuable historic archive.

Why not take the info and insert a "Historic" thread (read only) on your new forum? New members on your new forum will be able to see where we came from. Too much history to let it be lost.

Murray, it's up to you, but the info cannot be duplicated ever again.

Murray, why are you closing the forum, anyway? Isn't this forum one of the most successful forums in the history (herstory) of the planet Earth?

Most users ever online was 5,310, 08-29-2008 at 02:52 PM. (Day after the Democratic Convention)

Threads: 37,592, Posts: 546,130, Members: 5,790
Can any of you find a forum with more members, more posts, more threads, more members online at one time?? And that doesn't even count the many, many members who were banned for whatever reason, right?

There were times when you could make a post, and by the time you went back to see if there were any replies, there would be, like, 10 replies, do you remember that?

Is it a question of money? Do you need some contributions to keep it alive? Or is it just that you're tired?

Can't you keep it open at least until Hillary is confirmed as Sec'y of State?

Please keep me posted.

I am sure that this forum is one of the many reasons that Hillary is Secretary of State. Do you remember the tiny demonstration against media bias in NY? We were the first voices of anger, even before Pumas knew they were Pumas.

Many books will be written on Hillary Clinton and we will be a footnote in all of them. The political activism of her supporters, long after she conceded, is unprecedented.

Do not worry, though, we still have lots of work to do. Hillary will have executive power as long as it is publicly known that we are behind her. Many thanks to you all.

Oh, Murray! Many of us really, really don't want you to close this forum! My heart aches at the thought of not having this site after tomorrow (though the view-only option would help). Many of us here at the HC Forum have been through so much together - and don't feel ready to part just yet.

Didn't most of the people here support John McCain and Sarah Palin, until after the election was over? Do you think if McCain had won that Hillary would be Sec'y. of State?

Most of the people did not. Some of the people did and those who didn't kept quiet or went away.

Again, you seem to be awfully knowledgable about us. What name did you post under before this one?? I am sure I recognize your writing and you seem to know a lot more than a new person would, even if you were lurking. Such as time between posts that you mentioned in another thread.
Don't you think it a little unfair to be posting under new name and account if you are, indeed, an old member, as I suspect that you are?

Murray....

If you decide to close, I hope that it's not forever. Maybe you can post announcements from time to time---who knows what's going to happen in the next few months--not to mention years? And yes I would appreciate it if you left the archives open to viewing. I like to wander through them and remember the "good old days", and read posts that I never had time to read before. Also for me and perhaps to others, the archives represent a unique piece of history, and a place where a noble fight was fought, much of which unfortunately was never told beyond these forum "walls".

"Though nothing can bring back the hour
of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower
We will grieve not, but rather find
Strength in what remains behind."

Ok, enough sappiness......

A heartfelt thanks for all you've done. From the time I joined, until November 3rd were some of the best "online forum times" I've had. I made friends, learned a lot and enjoyed co-mingling with the many bright minds and kindred spirits. Please know it was appreciated.:)

That's good to know. Thanks, Muzza. Though I was highly in favor of this forum morphing straightaway into Common Ground Politics, it seemed like a difficult step for you, and I understand and respect that. I've had my "babies," too (meaning projects, not my human babies) and it's difficult to see them mishandled, or attempts to turn them into something they were not intended to be, changing the meaning and the original, unique objective to a totally other agenda. So now I agree, that Hillary Clinton Forum deserves to remain as is. It is/was special, with a very special purpose, and very well-run, thanks to you, Muzza. Though I wasn't here at the very beginning, I will have fond memories of my time here, and wish you the best as you take a break and conjure up a future forum!;) Thinking positive here!:) Best to all...until we meet again!
