Obviously a single day is a long time in politics - so in nearly a month much has happend since HCF closed its doors...

Obama is finally the President, officially. I didn't watch the inauguration proceedings as I was at work but I saw much of the news footage & parts of his speech that night. I was clearly not one of his supporters pre-November 4 but I accept he is now the President & I am certainly looking to focus on the positives that Obama/Dems in power can bring rather than remaining locked in the pains of the past. That said, I think it's extremely important to assess all leaders in a critical manner and Obama must be subjected to the same level of analysis as any President/leader should be.

I am very pleased that Hillary Clinton is now officially Secretary of State. It was great to see her so warmly welcomed at her first day at work at the State Dept & her short (but powerful) speech was great to listen to.

I am also happy to see Kirsten Gillibrand selected as Hillary's replacement. From what I have heard/read over the last 2 days she is a very capable politician. I am particularly pleased that she is pro-gay marriage - so few politicians are that it's amazing when one is. I know she has been getting a lot of criticism regarding her previous views about gun rights & immigration but I think it's a too early to judge how she will view these same issues when representing the entire state of NY. Time will tell.

And then of course there was the Hudson River place crash! Wow, what an amazing story. I first heard about it at work and thought the worst. To learn that everyone survived was such tremendous relief. For once there was a good outcome to a major emergency and not a catastrophic one!

What have you all been up to since Dec 31?!!

I've been to Australia and back! And am considering a move there in the near/mid future. We're looking at Melbourne but it will be who will hire me.

In addition I'm developing a new program and work (actually a couple new programs - one is for women in technology!) - things are going well....assuming the CA budget passes soon.

Other than the drunk posting incident this last friday night, I have been amazingly sober. Getting used to Obama as POTUS. I watched all day on Tuesday and I have to say, I was touched watching he and his family move in to the WH. I have gained quite a different perspective of the Obama's. It's NOT a love fest, but I am seriously happy with what he has shown so far.

As far as Hillary, OMG!!!! I am thrilled and amazed at her and her appointement. Was anyone surprised at the reception she has had this last week? I wasn't at all. I feel infinitely safer with her at the helm. I feel a good change in the future for this country with her looking out for us all.

Stressful home life, kids making me crazy. Boyfriend and furry babies are great though!

I watched the inauguration coverage all day. It was a great day! In fact, it's been a great week! I also started a new semester of college this month. I get to film a couple of documentaries this time around. That should be a lot of fun. Also, Hillary's gonna kick ass.

Just so you know Murr, we have loved having Spangie at PP with us! He is a great contributor and became one of our pack almost immediately. I'm glad we kept him here, so we could have him there.

Howdy!

I'm at a stem cell conference as we speak, on the road in Albany, NY, not far from our new Senator's home district.

I am thrilled that Hillary is our SoS and I look forward to following her adventures.

I was at work on Tuesday and couldn't get the video stream to work properly. But I taped everything and watched everything. It was really a great day, even though I didn't vote for him. I was very excited and hopeful for this country.

I'm especially excited with Hillary becoming Sec. of State. And thrilled that Pres. Obama tapped George Mitchell to be Middle East envoy. He is awesome and a fantastic choice.

I haven't posted at PSP as much as I'd like. Work's been busy, I've got a new guy in my life who I've been seeing, and of course my brand new car. But I am so glad this place is open again. Yay.

Oh, and got FLEETWOOD MAC TICKETS YESTERDAY!!

YAAAAYYY! For new guy, new car and Fleetwood Mac!!!! I'm hoping they come this way, have had tickets in the past and was never able to make it to them, the last time was when McVie bailed mid tour. I was not happy.....

Yeah, that must have stunk. I never got to see Christine since she left the band before I got to see them.

Oh, and Mer, Revolutionary Road was lousy. Remember how pumped I was for it? I saw it right after New Years and was incredibly disappointed by it. But Kate won the Golden Globe for it (and the Reader) and proceeded to profess her undying love for Leo with her husband sitting right there..hahaha.

By the way, I named the new car Billary. :D

MWAHHH to all of you! I've missed you and this place.

Since we last chatted, I haven't spent much time online at all. I'd even deleted the HCF shortcut/link from my toolbar :( But as soon as I read the 'we're open!' email, I just had to stop in and say HI!

I've been busy with work where we're experiencing layoffs. Keep your fingers crossed for me over the next month and hopefully I'll still be gainfully employed when they're over. It looks pretty good so far, but one never knows. It's a sad time at the office.

I spent part of last week in Washington DC where I was one of the gagillion people at the inauguration. I must admit that I was thrilled when I received an email from my senator stating that tickets were being held at her office. I picked them up on Monday and joined the crowd on Tuesday. And I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. It was fantastic being in the crowd to cheer for the new President, VP, SOS Hillary, etc

I hope that all of you have been well. You have been missed.

It was pretty amazing. I'd almost canceled the trip considering what was going on at work. But I left the plans in place to leave on Friday. Then on Thursday morning I received the email from Senator Klobuchar's office. The trip was definitely on then!

It was a once in a lifetime event and I met so many different people. On the first day there I met a man from Africa filming for a satellite feed to Europe and Africa. Then I met a group from Ireland. During the inauguration I stood next to a woman who has been living in Switzerland for the past 8 years.

(Great to 'see' you again, btw!)

Glad to see you too! It's exciting to know someone that went! I was amazed at the diversity of the crowds that were shown. It was quite a site.
I posted a pic over at PP of The Obama fam in the White House. Michelle and Sasha are on this bench and it looks like Sasha is having mom help her tie her shoes, she actually laying on it! Barack and Malia are standing in front of them talking. In the background you can see a couple of SS or staff of some sort. That damn pic choked me up a little. Not something I ever expected to see in the W.H.

Back in business again? 'Bout time! Welcome back.

I was planning to ignore the inauguration and then was slammed with the 24-hour stomach flu and 102 degree fever on that day so I was in bed, under the covers and out like a light! Later I saw bits on the news. Eh, whatever. He's the POTUS now. I survived GWB I guess 4 more years of someone I didn't support won't matter much at this point. I just hope the mania over this guy finally dies down for crying out loud! Such adulation for someone who hasn't accomplished anything yet. Enough already! :D

I was thrilled to watch the confirmation of Hillary as SOS and happy at the reception she got! I echo others' comments; I too feel more secure knowing Hillary's going to play an important part of the government.

Work is getting super busy so much less time now to peruse the forums and/or post a lot.

Hope things pick up for the country and the world in general.

Welcome back Hillary Clinton Forum!!!

Yeah, that must have stunk. I never got to see Christine since she left the band before I got to see them.

Not only was I fortunate enough to see her with the band, I got to see her on her solo tour in 1984 (yes, I know I am "dating" myself here) and I got backstage to meet her. She was so cool and just so funny. A night I will never forget. Her band was really great too!

Wow..you're kidding? That's amazing. My friend and I just got tickets to the April 15th show today. Ridiculously expensive but it's only my 5th FM show in 17 years, I figure I can splurge.

Glad to see everyone back, and cool to those who got to go to the inauguration. I never went to either of the two Bush inaugurations I lived in DC for, don't really regret it.

Nope, I was a record store manager back in the day and one of the "perks' was free tickets and backstage passes. Got to meet her, Heart, John Mellancamp, Bryan Adams, Joan Jett, Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders (btw, i would not mess with Chrissie), the rest of Fleetwood Mac, B52's (they were so much fun)...and a little trio called Crosby Stills and Nash to name a few. I am only listing my faves because some were real asses. These are the folks that were great....rather remember them.

My all time favorite movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad we're back! I am into giving Obama a chance, but so far..ehhhh..but its only the first week.

Sorry to everyone at PSP, I got busy with work wich is a good thing and bad. It seems with the economic issues hitting California, a lot of hospitals are laying off workers and implementing hiring freezes for Nurses, so I'm working a whole lot while others are collecting unemployment. This is a huge issue for me! We Californians are losing a huge tax base and replacing it with a less profitable one, which brings on more indigent and medi -Cal patients who don't give the hospitals much money...so I'm interested in seeing if National Healthcare will be sought. Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I got the email we were back in busines..Thanks MUrray!
