Thank goodness this got bumped! I had forgotten all about it, and I stopped watching Leno some time ago. I'll barely be home from seeing Hillary tonight in Beverly Hills when Leno airs, so thanks to seeing this thread I'll remember to DVR it. :)

what do you guys think would be better. HIllary talking about policies and issues, which shows her knowledge about politics in general or Hillary talking about personal stories to show more her human side and sense of humor.

A regular on Letterman this campaign season, Hillary Clinton took a seat on the couch of his Los Angeles Late Night Rival — and took her share of good natured lumps.
In an intro at the top of the show, she did a sketch skewering her 3am phone call ad, fielding a call from Leno asking her to appear on the show before saying “we’ve GOT to get caller ID.”

And in the monologue, Leno mocked her recent Rocky Balboa infatuation, saying “We have the Italian stallion on the show tonight — Hillary Clinton, ladies and gentlemen.”

She even got in on the action herself — joking about that harrowing tale of landing under sniper fire that’s been a staple of late night comedians. Walking out to the theme from Rocky, Clinton told Leno she was worried she wouldn’t make the show — saying “I was pinned down by sniper fire.” Leno replied “In LA, that might be true.”

Asked about her daughter saying she would make a better president than her husband, Clinton joked that “she’s such a smart young woman.” And as for Bill Clinton’s infamous red-faced outbursts on the trail this year, Hillary acknowledged that she tries to rein him in. “I’ve told him OK, honey, it’s alright. We don’t have to go get excited about it,” she said. “But he does get a little carried away sometimes.”

Commenter Bluesky at Taylor Marsh website went to Leno taping filed this report:

Just got back from the Jay Leno show taping. It was really cool, and actually very surreal. My friend and I stood in line for a few hours, and witnessed an Obamabot ask one of the security guards if he could ask the Senator a question. The guy said no questions, but kept pushing because he wanted to ask Senator Clinton about Monica Lewinsky. My friend and I shut him down immediately. We asked, "why would you want to ask this very respectful woman such a disgraceful question? She is for running president, and their is no place for this kind hatefulness." He backpedaled, and said it was his friend who texted him the question. Then he went on to say that he doesn't want Bill Clinton in the White House because, Bill has too many friends overseas. My friend and I looked at each other, and said Huh?

So we went into the theater, and the first thing that came to mind is it's way smaller than it appears. We were fourth row and center so great seats. Senator Clinton came out, and it was pretty amazing. The first segment she talked about the economy, and Jay had good questions for her. When they went to commercial, Jay and Hillary were talking intensely, and you could tell they were still talking about the economy. They were very engaged using their hand gestures a lot. The second segment she talked about the race, Fl and MI, superdelegates, and the convention. She hit a lot of points, and made her arguments. When she was talking about the superdelegates, Kevin Eubanks, and the woman percussion player were rolling their eyes, and shaking their heads which I found very sad. When Hillary walked off the stage she looked at them, and raised her thumb up, and they just stared blankly back at her. God what has happened in this race? There is so much hatred between people that used to be friends.

That's a real shame that this is what it has come to..the only reason why Eubanks and that woman(yeah I know who she is, she is the one who thinks she has any talent, singing during the commercial breaks) support Obama is because he is black..yeah what else could it be, his policy is the same as Hillary so it couldn't be what he is planning so it has to come down to race, it's a shame that they could not show the same respect for her that she had for them..Jay Leno is a loser, I never watch that show and the only reason why I will see it tonight is to see her. She will get a better reception on Ellen, because at least Ellen is respectful..Hillary had to degrade herself talking about Bosnia and making fun of herself to be on Leno's show..if that's what it took to go on his show I wouldn't have gone

She's awesome I love how she made fun of herself with the sniper fire comment. Once a candidate does that it's very hard to continue to use it against them because it becomes a moot point. Cause now you're not pointing your finger shaming you're pointing your finger while they're laughing. I love that she did that and I'd love for her to do it again maybe at the Philly debate that would kick butt.

She's great, getting her points across.... I can't believe I'm dvring this and watching it.... late night.

Leno is a Republican..adores John McCain but bashes Bush..and as far as those kids they interview on the "Jaywalk" yeah they are morons..and when they have the Jaywalk All stars contest on his show they can't even answer the dimpliest questions like he will show a picture of Al Gore and they will have NO clue who that is..and then I realized..OMG these are the people voting for Obama..NO WONDER

Well, I actually watched Leno for the first time in years. Clinton has a way of inspiring me to watch shows I wouldn't watch normally.

All in all, I have to say that she's still amazing. I thought her demeanor was great. I thought her answers were on point. And she looked really good. Definitely a positive interview for her and one that she needs right now. She seems to have been "hiding" lately where Obama has been so visible. Of course, that's mostly the media.

Her sniper comment was great and really something that was much needed. If she can laugh about a mistake, that's a good thing. I also thought that she kept her cool very well in regards to Bill and MI/FL. And her comments about Chelsea were great.

I'm glad that Leno is in the tank for Obama. She needs tougher questions because she has the ability to answer them. Obama, as we all know, doesn't have that ability. Let him interrogate her, she'll only come out stronger in the end.

As usual, she motivated me and I thought she did great. It was a much needed boost!

I thought she was great. I especially liked what she said about "devaluing" blue collar jobs. Of course we already know MSM will be critical of her but I bet alot of what she was saying will resonate with voters.

I was soooo impressed with her! How does she do it ?

I was actually glad Jay asked the MI & FL question because he said it in a way that reflected what non-political junkies have been told to think! Hillary had the priceless opportunity to address it head on by saying that 2 other states had moved up their election dates and were not penalized... this was a good point... all the other points she made were just spot on !!!

She does so well in this type of format... I thought she was just great tonight!!!

I watched it on tv (by the way Jay Leno repeats tomorrow evening around 10 pm). Hillary was great - she came in and said she was almost late as she was dodging sniper fire..... The audience and Jay Leno all laughed - it was great. She looked super and she was funny and intelligent and she and Jay got on like a house on fire. He asked good questions and she answered them well. He asked just about everything re super delegates etc. And she said they all have one vote just like everyone else when he asked. She said it is an exciting race - the democrats have brought in more people than ever before and that is exciting for her - for the two of them. She was positive but mentioned the Michigan did agree to revote and not paid at taxpayers expence, but Obama turned it down. They are still waiting to see what the DNC does for Florida and Michigan now but they do have to be represented at the convention and she also brought up that two other states (or was it three, can't remember) had moved up their election also. So the DNC have to sort it out and she is sure it will all work out. Very positive and very nice. Jay seemed very pleased with her and shook her hand and said he admired her toughness. I am looking forward to seeing her on Ellen DeGeneres on Monday next now....That should be fun - wonder if she will do a dance with Ellen.

There was a comic came on next - can't remember his name - was in Ratatouille and a definite Hillary supporter. Very funny. I have yet to see the film but friends tell me it's great.

p.s. I am just wondering one of those states was Ohio - right? Now that was the big win for Obama right? So.....what would that mean if it lost its delegates also?????? Anybody know...?

Yes of course - I misspoke.... ouch! Was it Illinois? I thought it was an Obama winning state that was moved up as well as Florida and Michigan....

There has to be a reason for them changing to seating the delegates... New Hampshire was one also but there were three altogether - or am I wrong again?

By BETH FOUHY

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton made fun of herself Thursday, telling "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno she almost didn't make it to his studio.

"It is so great to be here, I was so worried I wasn't going to make it. I was pinned down by sniper fire," Clinton said after joining him onstage, referring to her claims — since disputed — that she dodged sniper bullets while arriving in Bosnia as first lady. Clinton later said she had "misspoke."

As she entered, Leno's band played the "Rocky" theme, jumping off her statement this week that she is the underdog in the Democratic nominating contest against Barack Obama, just like the fictitious boxer was against his opponent in the Oscar-winning movie.

foreigner4hillary, leno showed a clip/cartoon kind of thing showing obama toss a free throw and hillary leaped up under the net and knocked the ball away :D.

i think she was great. when she joked about the sniper fire, it shuts down the people who seem intent on making that such a big issue against her. :)

i was delighted that the audience applauded and i was so proud of her!
