I have always been a fan of "facts & figues" since way back.
So I find it very satisfying!
There are many more features I can add over time too in this regard.

Nothing like adding some fun stats to the site! Granted, we'll never get to #1. ;)

I'm not sure how you keep thinking up these things and then they somehow magically appear....

Probably not - unless somebody takes me out!!!
I'd love to be challenged for the #1 position!!!
Is it helpful having these "recent posts" and "hot threads" lists at the top of the forum?

Is it helpful having these "recent posts" and "hot threads" lists at the top of the forum?
IMHO I never even look at them. They look like a big list of blue letters that are just taking space up there. ;) I just go straight into the Main Room, which btw is titled New Threads and Hot Topics, and where I expect to find the latest scoop.
All the new topics are always at the top and you can see if its a hot topic by looking at the number of posts, views, if it has a red envelope, etc. So in conclusion, I think that thing at the top of the forum should go! :D
The advantage to having the "recent posts" listing at the above is this:
You get to see the most recent posts automatically across the entire forum (across all subforums) without having to specifically going into those subforums. Hanging out in the "main room" means you miss seeing posts in the other subforums, unless you go into those subforums specifically.
Same applies for the "most viewed" and "hot threads" - the cobmined listing comprises threads from across all subforums.

I see your point. Is there anyway to make it look less cluttered then, like changing the font or the arrangement? That would really help. :p
And I didn't know about the not being able to see the other forums part. :o

Yes and no. Have to choose between trimming the thread titles to a certain number of characters or display the whole title - and the latter than stuffs up how wide the forum gets etc.
I have dumped to the bottom of the page for now...!

How about this Murray.. why don't you put a link or links at the top of forum that will point you to their respective content. (Ex. Most Viewed Threads, user clicks the link and then it takes you to the table that has all the info). That way you eliminate the clutter on top but you can keep those important stats on top so people can access them. You like my idea? :D

the lists are gone from the top. i miss them. it was easier to find threads that are current.
but i never cared about clutter. :D
The lists at the top - did people like/dislike them? Currently, I have dumped them at the bottom....

Please, Mur, don't put them back at the top. With those large banners and then those long dual columns scrunching down the forums, there was just too much to wade through, and looked messy too. When using the New Posts and those columns were topside, it made for much more scrolling.
I highly recommend folks use the New Posts at the top of the page -- it's so much easier to read the posts and keep track of things.

Prefer them at the bottom. I like the streamlined look at the top.

I agree, keep them at the bottom, too cluttered up on top. But I do like the little stat dialogue up on top so you can see the number of members growing daily, the number of people online at any given time, and a welcome to the latest member. Also what has happened to the question of making this a closed forum or not. I voted to keep it open, but the numbers were running to close it.
