View Full Version : TAKE ACTION - Protest to Media & Women's Organizations about Obama's statement to a female Clinton supporter ("I'll give you a kiss"!)?!?

Why couldn't he try that kiss or down on my knees line with one of the women on this board? Then we could slap him with a sexual harrassment charge!

I tried to submit the following to NOW, but couldn't get through. Maybe someone else will have better luck. I did, however, notify Lou Dobbs and Joe Scarborough. Maybe they'll pick it up and discuss it. The bowling story got some good coverage. Why not this? Please see what I wrote below:

I would like to see your organization address the inappropriate way Senator Barack Obama engaged a woman in Scranton Pa yesterday: please see link below to on-line Time article where it is reported that Obama asked a woman wearing a Hillary button if giving her "a KISS" would help change her mind to vote for him instead. He treated this woman as a sexual thing who could be manipulated by his charm. As a professional woman I will tell you that this is frightening. The last thing a working woman wants is to be addressed sexually – in any manner. It subtly – and sometimes not so subtly – keeps her in her patriarchal place. I believe Obama’s comment to this woman says a lot about the ways he would address (NOT!) issues related to women’s rights in America. I just am not convinced that he is the best candidate to voice issues that concern me and my daughters, e.g., equal pay, sexual harassment in the workplace, equal opportunity in the military, etc. I might add that I am not a sexual prude and I have a raucus sense of humor. My US patriot and retired US federal agent husband can attest to that. He is a terrific guy -- and a feminist to boot!

Maybe I will forward it to "Morning Joe". He is beginning to see the double standards and sexism going on. Does anyone know his e-mail address? His wife and mother are ardent Hillary supporters. They keep him in check. I don't watch T.V because of the negative media. If I watch something like morning Joe. I watch it on youtube so I only see the positive media!! Isn't that sad? I don't even know what station he is on!!

Maybe email it to Pat Buchanan instead? He has been very objective in his analysis of this Democratic primary (we'll see how he is during the General
Election!)

Also, Gloria Steinem is a Hillary supporter and wrote an op-ed piece in January about how difficult it still is for women to run for office.

The kiss remark is as sexist and obnoxious as the " Iron my shirt" remark.

If you read Maureen Dowd's column today, she also mentions that Barack called one supporter "sweetie" and told another she was "beautiful."
This is really not appropriate.

Hillary has clearly raised Obama’s consciousness about the importance of courting the ladies. Touring a manufacturing plant in Allentown, Pa., Tuesday, he was flirtatious, winking and grinning at the women working there, calling one “Sweetie,” telling another she was “beautiful,” and imitating his daughters’ dance moves by twirling around

Absolutely. Forward it to Joe and others. It's a GREAT blog comment.

Good thinking on mentioning your daughters and federal agent husband.

Wow, just read the Maureen Dowd comments. You might want to include them. This is looking like a pattern.

Maureen Dowd has not been particularly kind to Hillary. Is she starting to change her tune?

Personally, I don't know how any enlightened woman would stand for this type of treatment.

She has been so totally obnoxious about Hillary, I seriously doubt that she's starting to change her tune. I think she would write snotty stuff about her own mother if it would keep people reading her column.

Obama has to be just clueless to do and say these obviously sexist things. Either that, or he thinks he's infallable, and that the press would never call him out on such behavior. Well, what the hell am I thinking - of course they won't call him out - never mind.
