Before Her Senate Bid, Hillary Clinton Had Divorce Papers Drawn Up
The National Enquirer is now reporting that before Hillary Clinton, the current Secretary of State, ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate, she had her lawyer draw up divorce papers to rid herself of Bill Clinton once and for all. Her reasons were, of course, other women. In these papers, which are said to remain in her lawyer's Manhattan office, she made a list of all of her philandering husband's lovers.
The list is said to include actresses Saffron Burrows (Troy, Boston Lega, Reign Over Me) and Julie Bowen (Weeds, Lost, Boston Legal). He's also alledged to have hooked up with Lisa Belzberg, who had split form her husband, Matthew Bronfram, heir to the Seagram liquor fortune. Other women on the list include Ghislaine Maxwell and New York socialite Sale Johnson.
Sources also reveal that Hillary warned Bill about his friendship with the wealthy blonde Canadian divorcee Belinda Stronach, who was once referred to as "the young Hillary."
These names never came out until now, obviously because she decided not to go through with the divorce. Her focus on her image and decision to run for Senate made it impossible for her to go through with the proceedings. We can only imagine the fun the tabloids would have had with such a high-profile divorce case between an ex-President and his powerful wife.
A source told the Enquirer:
"If Hillary had divorce papers written up but not filed, the lawyer must keep them secure for at least seven years. That is the law.
“But they will always remain secret. Even if Hillary died, the lawyer can never divulge their contents because it falls under privileged information. That would be wholly illegal.”
For all the juicy details, pick up the latest print edition (April 20, 2009) of the National Enquirer.

Oh like who cares? Relationships can get pretty "sucky" and it's not like nearly every one of us has not "been there" a time or two. Hell...I would hold those papers like a brick over his head...."fool around again buddy and I'm filin' them and you are going to pay and then some." I guess it falls under the heading of "tittilating gossip" but I would personally rather have been a fly on the wall when he "Explained"...:eek::eek:

Why did the source say "If Hillary had divorce papers written up ..."?
Sounds like speculation to me.

IMHO, she should sue the bejesus out of these asshats! True or not, this is to me, personal and none of anyones business.

Hillary has never struck me as an "on the fence" kind of gal.
Seems to me that she would make up her mind for sure and certain before she made such a bold move.
Besides, it is privileged information and the lawyer can never talk about it.

This seems like a lot of BS.
1. How did someone have access to the divorce papers if they're under lock & key in a lawyer's office. And wouldn't the lawyer be holding an internal investigation right now if the names are correct?
2. The gossip columns were claiming during the election that Bill had an affair with Gina Gershon... No evidence of that ever surfaced and the story was forgotten as soon as Hillary suspended her campaign.
3. We are supposed to believe that in 2000, between leaving the Whitehouse and deciding to run for Senate, Hillary decided to divorce Bill and leave politics, then suddenly changed her mind? In the space of a few months or weeks, she went from divorcing Bill to running for Senate. That's just stupid.
4. If Hillary wanted a divorce, Bill wasn't going to fight her. She didn't need to embarrass him in court with a list of affairs. They would have come to a private agreement about splitting their assets.
5. Hillary never intended to leave politics. Why would she even bother going through an unnecessary divorce?
6. What would be the point of a big public divorce? They could simply live apart quite happily. The only practical reason for Hillary to divorce bill would have been to marry someone else....
7. Saffron Burrows? Was she even famous back before Hillary ran for the Senate?
I really don't believe this story. It just doesn't make any sense.

Non-story, IMO. Their marriage is their personal business.

maybe she did (he certainly gave her reason to), but that was a decade ago and who cares?
personally I like the way things turned out and that they stayed together. most marriages go through tough times, and getting through them is a testament to the marriage.
one thing I think Hillary's presidential campaign proved for sure is that this is a bonafide marriage, and not a "political partnership" as had been so frequently rumored through the years. Bill Clinton is the most talented politician of his generation, and he was never seen so openly angry as he was at the way Hillary was treated during her presidential campaign. that's because his emotions were engaged--people could really see how much he loves her, and as a result you don't hear the "political partnership" talk too much anymore.

So it has been longer than 7 years, so the papers would be destroyed by now if you read the story correctly. Somebody needs to do some jail time over this. Disbarring possibly.
That's not to say I wouldn't be surprised to find out the story is 100% true. It is why Bill Clinton is my tainted hero. If I can reject married women because I respect marriage, the least Bill could have done was respect his own marriage.

So what? If she did, who cares. Old news, she didn't do it in the end, *if* any of this is true. It's Hillary's and Bill's business.

I saw this on my Hillary LJ community. The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has been promoting a Clinton divorce for 17 years now. It just gets rehashed.
Hillary herself didn't know what she was going to do after August of 1998 so the timeline does fit. But I don't think she ever really had divorce papers drawn up.
They are probably listing women who have been seen with Bill at events, fundraisers, etc. The sad truth is, anytime he's seen with a female, regardless of the context, people will talk because that's the stigma he has to live with. They linked him with Gina Gershon and Gina said she barely even ever spoke to Bill.
She never went through with it and they seem very happy and past those "problems" now, so people need to just leave it alone.
If Bill was still engaging in that behavior between 1998 and now, don't you think we would have heard about it during Hillary's campaign? And all we got was a ridiculous Vanity Fair story they were never able to prove. Even some of my anti Clinton friends don't believe they've had those problems since the Lewinsky affair. Especially not since Bill got help for his problem. It's over and done with. End of story.
Not to mention, he had a heart attack five years ago. That changes people and brings people closer together, makes them re evaluate what's important to them. Bill wouldn't throw that away.
