Good thread. Interested to see the responses of our Republican members.

Strengths:

1. Personal Strength/Endurance to continue long fights of importance to America, withstand her critics
2. Passion for the issues
3. Fierce Intellect

Weaknesses:

1. Sometimes overly cautious with campaign strategy (held back until it was too late)
2. Can come off as robotic by over-thinking the politics of a situation instead of showing her true self (I think this has improved greatly because of the campaign)
3. Managing skills can improve (campaign money, staff restructuring (sometimes HRC is too loyal), media image control, etc.)

Ok, sorry. It was just begging to be said. I'm not sure I want to mention her weaknesses as it may be used against her on this board later.

I am no authority, but here are a few ideas off the top of my head...

Strengths:

1. Extremely hard-working and does her best to ensure she is as informed as possible about the issues at stake.

2. Courtesy of #1 she has extensive knowledge about a broad range of political issues which makes her a great asset to any political team.

3. Great sense of humor - knows how to laugh & make jokes at her own expense. That shows some humility.

4. Refuses to be silenced just because there may be strong opposition to what she has to say. She doesn't go down without a fight!

5. Retains a loyalty to her party, in spite of being badly treated at times, because she supports its ideals/goals and therefore she demonstrates a concern for something beyond her own ambitions.

Weaknesses

1. At times, being over-confident on certain issues has hurt her.

2. The flipside of #5 above is that she sometimes holds back from saying things that need to be said for fear of getting into conflict with her party and its leaders.

3. I am not convinced she has always consulted the right people when making decisions about her political actions. Her presidential campaign was a good example - there were plenty of better qualified people she could have enlisted to help her win.

Strengths
1. Scary knowledge
2. Real bleeding heart and not a fake bleeding heart
3. Great application of 1 & 2 to provide actual solutions

Weaknesses
1. Took the high road with the mudslinging Obama for far too long

That is all.

Strengths:
1. Intelligence combined with pragmatism.
2. Diligence and perserverance.
3. Sense of humor.
4. Loyalty

Weaknesses:
1. Loyalty - assumed african-americans would have the loyalty to her after all she had done for them...fatal mistake.
2. Mark Penn - nothing more to say there.
3. Participating in that sham of a roll-call vote. By cow-towing to the party, this type of BS has now been given the greenlight that it is ok.

I disagree with the posters here saying that one of her problems is campaign strategy. Hillary lost not because of an inferior campaign strategy but because of a biased mainstream media.

That's only partly true. She didn't run the most effective campaign. She had the wrong people in place and they didn't plan for the caucuses or for after Super Tuesday. There were a lot of factors, and the media didn't help, but after his huge run in February, she never had the delegates to catch up.

No...

The media was a huge part of the problem.

But there were other strategic errors and had they not been made the impact of a biased media on the overall result may have been less.

Once Hillary's campaign got its act together in the second half of the competition it outperformed Obama. But the match was lost in the first half and it was extremely difficult to catch up after that.

Obviously, Hillary made strategic errors. But it is easy to be error free if:

1. The MSM is actively sabotaging your opponents. You don't need to sully your hands in negative campaigning. Although, the Obama campaign was one of the most negative I have ever seen they really didn't have to go negative because the MSM was doing it for them.

2. The MSM has effectively become your mouthpiece. You don't even have to put out ads anymore. The MSM will do the campaigning for you.

It is not as if the Obama campaign did not make any strategic errors. It was just that the MSM spun all errors made by the Obama campaign as brilliance and the gullible public bought it.

One can not overestimate the impact of a very biased media on the campaign. The bias in the media was unprecedented. It was not the regular over the counter bias that we had it was the super strength kind.

The MSM was definitely biased but they didn't sabatoge Hillary's campaign. Mark Penn and PSD did.
