This is the oldest complete speech of Hillary I could find so far, and it is a remarkable one: Her remarks at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago 1996 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_Democratic_National_Convention). She is very impressive and the audience goes totally wild in the beginning, so she has to wait about three minutes standing at the dais before she can speak. What I found even more impressive to see from today's perspective is how much she has evolved as a speaker since then.

So, here she is. (http://hillforceone.blogspot.com/1996/08/hrc-democratic-national-convention.html)

I also discovered a really brilliantly written report from that convention by the actor Peter Coyote (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Coyote).

Not only praises he Hillary as "This woman is a beacon and appears to be truly illuminated." but also writes about the whole convention in a very detailed personal style.

Read his journal entry of Hillary here:

The whole DNC report starts here:

Enjoy!

Wow! Look at that pix. She looks so young. Of course I was a teenager in 1996 so I guess time really has flown by. :o

OMG, this is a must watch for any Hillary fan!

The opening gave me goosebumps. I wish she'd gone for the presidency sooner than 2008...

Moni, this is such great footage - have you ever thought of dividing your videos up into shorter youtube clips (part 1, part 2 etc)? I think that would increase people's access to them. I know sometimes people don't want to take the time to download material but they would very quickly click "play".

(Hillary's beauty in this clip is really striking - what an impressive looking lady.)

I can't wait to go home and put my headphones on and listen to this one. I also love one of the early interviews she did with Larry King when she was first under assault and she talked about how she deals with that. I love Hillary!!

I couldn't get the clip to play. Is there a trick to this one?

I had never seen this footage. Hillary wasn't registering on my radar in 1996!

It's fascinating (given my interest in her politics/career now) to look back at these old clips and speeches.

The video is in the popular Flash video file format (flv). To play it on your computer, you need a video player or program that can play back Flash video. Real Player can handle this format.

I personally recommend using KMPlayer which is a great multimedia player. I use it for for mp3, DVD, avi, any type of video.

You can get it here:
http://www.kmplayer.com/beta/kmp.zip
(right-click, save as...)

You can also play back most flv files with the popular image viewer Irfanview which is the best small image/thumbnail viewer/sorter I have ever seen. I use it on a daily basis for quick image editing. I consider this program a must-have for any Windows PC, so you may want to get it from www.irfanview.com if you don't have it installed already. Make sure you grab the big plugins file as a second download because that one contains the flash video plugin as well as those for other file formats.

Once you have installed any of those and associated the file format flv with them, Windows will then launch the program when you click on a downloaded flv file.
