(CNN) – Sarah Palin has inked a book deal with HarperCollins to publish her story of an unlikely political career and meteoric rise from small-town mayor to Republican vice presidential candidate.

"There have been so many things written and said through mainstream media that have not been accurate, and it will be nice through an unfiltered forum to get to speak truthfully about who we are and what we stand for and what Alaska is all about," Palin told the Anchorage Daily News Tuesday.

"The idea is to focus on the content of the book and what's coming in terms of me being able to tell my story unrestrained and unfiltered."

Palin would not reveal how much money she is being paid for the likely blockbuster memoir. But earlier this year, the Alaska governor secured the services of Robert Barnett, the Washington lawyer who negotiated highly-profitable book deals for Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Several publishes have estimated Palin could easily fetch $7-11 million for the highly-anticipated book. Reached by CNN, Barnett declined to disclose the terms of the deal.

The book is set to hit shelves in the spring of 2010, only a handful of months before Republican White House hopefuls begin to gear up their presidential primary campaigns.

Palin, who obtained a journalism degree from the University of Idaho, also suggested the book will cover more than her improbable and sometimes bumpy vice presidential bid.

"It will be nice to put my journalism degree to work on this and get to tell my story, Alaska's story. There have been so many unauthorized books and publications that have spoken to somebody else's opinion of who I am what my family represents and what Alaska is all about," she said.

In a statement, HarperCollins President Brian Murray called Palin "one of the most charismatic, inspiring and controversial figures to appear on the national political stage for many years."

"She has a fascinating story to tell, and we look forward to publishing what surely will be a captivating book," he said.

While those things may be true, I just wish she'd wait a little while longer. I'm at the point where I've had enough of any politician! (Yes I realize it's not coming out for another year!:p )

I don't want to see another autobiography of anyone until maybe the start of the next election.:itwasntme:

I wonder if this will help or hurt the GOP in 2010?

Neither. The book will be devoid of anything interesting, no matter what they're promising now. It'll be ghostwritten and full of spin, like every other current politician's book--especially if she still thinks she's got a shot at the presidency.

It's too soon. I wish she'd waited.

I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to see her do well, even though I don't agree with her on many things. I just don't think the country's going to be receptive to a book by her right now. She needs to prove herself in other ways, especially with the media gunning for her.

Well, if she writes as well as she speaks...

These books are usually ghostwritten. Publishers do an interview and then someone writes the book.

I made a bet that if she wrote a book, I'd read it. Other than that, I rarely read books. I'd rather watch the movie.

Good point. I wonder, though, how the media frenzy that will almost certainly surround it, will effect Repub candidates? Maybe not so much since they tend to get sorry media anyway.

And why pray tell would you fell a need to read it if it wasn't ghostwritten?

Funny...the same.."oh, not a book from that one" was the same initial response when Hillary wrote her book. I doubt I will buy it, but I do think she has an interesting story to tell.

Her book might do okay. Books by conservatives tend to sell pretty well. Mark Levin's latest book in now on #4 on Amazon.com

For me it's not so much the, "oh, that one again." It's more that I'm at political burn out with anyone who was in the GE besides Hill. So I just can't stomach another media tour for a book or anything else!

It sounds quite Canadian to me.

I am just tired of hearing about her period. I think she needs to give it a rest before she does this. Like 20 yrs or so.

Now that you mention it, I remember that reaction to the news about Hillary's book. But was she dealing with the same level of media hatred that Palin is?

She probably needs the money to pay off some of those legal bills.

Can't blame her for wanting a quick dollar.

It was pretty Craptastic. I picked it up one day at Costco and was mortified she let that out. Needless to say, I did NOT buy it.

Yeah, to help pay her lawyers for those umpteen frivolous ethics complaints that she's getting exonerated on.

She's actually a VERY good public speaker. Even Chris Matthews was giving her praise and I'm sure it took a lot for him to do so.
