Classy.

A MAN who has fathered 21 children with 11 different women yesterday claimed that he was "done" having children.

Desmond Hatchett's extraordinary brood came to light after authorities in Tennessee took the 29-year-old to court for non-payment of child support.

Mr Hatchett has apparently set a US record but denied he had set out to claim a place in history.

"It just happened," he said.

Mr Hatchett said he would not have any more children.

"I'm done. I'll say I'm done," he said, shaking his head.

Mr Hatchett told reporters outside court that he knew the names and ages of all his offspring.

The ages ranged from newborn to 11 years old.

Authorities said they planned to take half of his monthly salary to pay for the youngsters. But with Mr Hatchett earning just the minimum wage, officials said that worked out to slightly more than $2 a week for each.

"The children can't all be supported by Desmond so the state of Tennessee has had to step in," his lawyer Keith Pope said.

But many Knoxville residents are angry the state has paid, with some extremists even calling for Mr Hatchett to be castrated.

Mr Hatchett's name appeared on court documents 11 times representing 15 of his 21 children.

Authorities were now braced for more women coming forward to claim he was the father of their children after he appeared on local TV. Mr Hatchett even boasted of fathering four children by different women in the same year.

He said the women he was involved with all knew that he had other children.

One mother, who had two children with Mr Hatchett, said she should get $90 a month but rarely received any child support.

"It's frustrating, but usually when I ask he gives it to me," she said yesterday.

Authorities in Knoxville ordered Mr Hatchett to court to explain how he intended to pay child support. He arrived for the hearing with about $600 in his pocket.

That guy probably lives within 30 minutes of me. Also, I had no idea who he was until this thread.

As in you really do recognize him?

He's been very busy. He probably didn't have time to talk to you.

I just read recently about a 17 year old Hispanic guy (I believe he was a gang member in LA but am not positive) anyway, he was the sire of 14 babies...he has never worked a day in his life and will never contribute a dime to the support of these children (he was bragging about his "potency" and how he was leaving his "legacy" for the world.) you and I and every other person who works will pay to support these children (most mothers were under 16, no education and no work skills.) In my opinion, what he has done should be illegal (and I am a person who heartily supports reproductive rights.) Anyone who is as irresponsible as Hatchett or the kid should be in jail or forced to join the army and have every dime they ever earn going into a fund for their offspring. I find their actions despicable.

Never heard of him. When he reaches Wilt Chamberlain's record of having sex with 20,000 women let me know.

This guy is reprehensible...and the women involved are just as much to blame. It takes two.

Did anyone notice that he's only 29?! If he started at 18, he would have had to impregnate approx two women a year every year since. No wonder there were eleven women involved. All his ex-conquests were PG.

I wonder who's paying for these kids, besides us, the taxpayers.

I say neuter him!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, his age jumped out at me. That is truly sad!! But people don't practice birth control anymore like they did when I was younger.

And yes, I hold the women equally accountable as well, he probably bragged about the fact that he had fathered so many children.

We just need to increase the minimum wage so that the working poor can raise their families

/sarcasm off

I have personally castrated over 10,000 calves or more in my lifetime (buckets and buckets of "Rocky Mountain Oysters") and at least 2000 stud colts. I am the proud owner of a fine "Emasculator" (that is really what it is called) and a scalpel and I am free to travel...

That might be what it is called in the more refined circles.

There is another delightful tool called an "elastrator" which puts a tiny rubber band around the top of the testicals where they join the crotch and it cuts off the blood supply and in about three weeks, the balls rot and fall off. That might be even better...

Back when I was growing up on a ranch they were starting to use those on lambs but mostly they were using a device called "teeth." :)

Hey...I have seen lots of old cowboys do it that way. I use a really sharp pocketknife on small calves (bigger ones, the cord is a lot thicker and they are less "enthusiastic" about the procedure. All you guys can uncross your legs now...castration chit chat at an end...X_X

Mr. Hatchett has competetition (but he is winning with 21)!

Mr. Frazier below has had 14 children (that he knows of) with 13 different mums!

Life on the ranch...brutal! And all kidding aside, Rocky Mountain Oysters are on the menu at all restaurants here and they even have an "oyster cook off" at the big Labor Day bash at the park. I don't eat meat but they are one of my family's favorite things...

And then, under somewhat different circumstances, there is the Duggar Family (Tennessee again!) who have 18 kids with only 2 parents but I still think there is something not quite right about having so many children....

http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/18-kids-and-counting/duggar-family.html

I did watch one episode and all the kids seemed very well-adjusted. But why would anyone want to have 18 children? This family are friends with another local couple who have 17 children?! WTF?! What's going on in TN?

You know you've got a baby daddy problem when you have 2 kids of the same age, and they're not twins! Since the state of Tennessee will be basically paying for these kids, this guy needs to don an orange vest and pick up trash on the side of the road during his off time to help pay back his debt.

LOL! I'd put him in an orange vest on the obgyn floor of a busy hospital, changing diapers.

And they are screaming their brains out from the moment you pick them up! of course, were it my "package" being targeted, I would perhaps scream as well. Pigletts and lambs have a much thinner cord attachment but even so, using your teeth is too "cowboy" for even me!
