Mod Suggestions? [Archive] - COMMON GROUND POLITICS

Well, I haven't been around much and I don't like the idea of there being no moderator at all during those periods...

I know...I miss you. But I must say that out of the 'very-active' forumers, I can't really think of anyone (myself included) who would be well suited for a MOD position.

I don't see a need for a mod in most instances. We have many good examples of self-policing on this forum.

The only reasoning I see for having a mod is to point out serious abuses of logic, such as the overuse of "deflective" and "moving target" arguments, and emphasizing "less is more".

I've been thinking about this a lot lately and I would like to put my name in for consideration. For what it's worth, I'm one of the original members still here and I am a huge Hillary supporter, I don't cause too many arguments. I've always looked out for the forum's best interests. And I'm able to be on here quite often. I think I've always been pretty fair in our discussions. And I've invested nearly 2 decades of passionate Clinton loyalty. I've also had mod experience the past 9 years.

I just thought I would let myself be considered, if possible. If not, I'm not going to be upset. But being the political person I am, thought I would take a shot.

I vote for ClintonFan, and yes it would be nice to have a mod. Not necessary most of the time, but just someone to keep things under control occasionally.

I officially endorse Clinton Fan. :)>- But quite honestly, I think that most of the posters here do quite a good job of self-policing themselves. Now that's not to say there are some posts that could have been deleted (or not made), but rarely do I see things get out of hand. I think the real immature members have left the forum.

We all seem to be getting along pretty well these days (knock on wood!), but mods keep things organized, merge threads, etc. I think we need a couple at least.

I agree we do a pretty good job, but I think sometimes things do get out of control around here and it would be nice to have someone there to just get things back on track when they do.

It's ultimately up to Murray. He was just asking for suggestions and I took advantage of the opportunity to make one. :laughing:

You could mod, as well, but no fights. ;) I disappear for periods of time because of work and can't make a commitment to be here enough. I'm more then likely going to disappear again completely soon. Right now I have some other people doing their jobs so I can do mine and it provides a nice break... but I'm still at the office. :(

LOL. :D I certainly have my "unreasonable" periods also.

I'm not sure how "well" work is going since I can't sleep anymore, but thank you for your supportive comments. I've got medical investigators pouring over subpoenaed records right now. I took Mon. and Tues. off and they were supposed to be done but aren't. I don't have my first depo scheduled until the 26th and we're already on the 5th pre-trial. The 25th will provide a trial date, I'm sure. Hopefully, by about 10 a.m. my work day will already be done tomorrow. :) All the education in the world just doesn't completely prepare you for this stuff... not the emotional part anyway.

That sounds exciting.

I'm not willing to engage in a battle either. Silly stuff. As I said, if Murray is only looking for one mod then I withdraw my name because I cannot fulfill the commitment of being here enough. If someone needs back-up, that's not a problem.

I didn't have a thesis in college and my BC is at home. I can scan my passport in case anybody would like, or my drivers license?

A few things:

1) It depends on what the definition of the word "citizen" is.
2) I did not have sexual relations with anyone on this forum, that I know of.
3) I cannot see Russia from my house.
4) I am also distancing myself from my entire family outright thus having to do so at a later date.
5) Once on my way to Boston we had to land sooner than expected and run to the terminal at Logan Airport to avoid sniper fire.
6) I was for this forum before I was against it, then I was for it again.
7) I did once have a cardboard cutout of Bill Clinton in my bedroom as a teenager.
8) I swam in the mud lake at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day 2004 after a monsoon. But I wasn't naked.
9) I have been laid off twice in the past 3 years. This current recession has kicked my ass and I'm not happy about it.
10) I used to live in DC where I lived through things like 9-11, snipers, anthrax, various evacuations, and a mugging.
11) I am a die hard Philadelphia sports fan, however I have never thrown a snowball at anyone.
12) Both my roommates in college were lesbians. And one is now a male.

Any other personal info anyone would like to know before backing me? :laughing:

Ha! That's what I only take too. I get these vitamin C and zinc tablets in Germany that you stick in water, they disolve and make kind of like a lemonade drink. I'm not big on the pill kind. I personally think that it's too hard on the body's system to injest too many pills in a day's time. But that's just me.

Oh man, I'm looking for an easier way to take Zinc because it makes me sick to my stomach.

I do also take Fish Oil and MSM (for joints, I have knee problems).

Yeah, I don't like the taste of zinc pills (almost as bad as vitamin B ones). That's why I like these tablets, it's the C with the zinc combined. Also read the bottles! I've noticed that a lot of vitamins sold here are made in China now. Not sure if I want to take a vitamin with an anti-freeze supplement.:(

I missed this question earlier. I am not a fan of the NRA but I don't support taking everyone's guns away, just the assault weapons. People who hunt are okay and can keep them.

As for religion, I'm Jewish, so really, my opinion doesn't count. :laughing:
