What is really driving the anger, the almost mob-like mentality and the utter contempt being displayed at those WE VOTED into office regarding healthcare?
Is it just about healthcare? Or is the healthcare issue tapping into something deeper in the average American?
I think it is about the expansion of government into not just our daily lives, but also the free market. Stimulus plan, auto bailout, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. This government is no longer allowing "we the people" to make our own choices...and live with the consequences of them. Bought a fuel-inefficient car, you pay the price. Bought a home you couldn't afford...you live with the bankruptcy you caused yourself.
Our government is not "Big Brother"...it has become the "Mother of all Enablers" of bad behavior being rewarded.
Today, Americans, as always, are being forced to live with the choices our Congress makes, choices that THEY don't have to live by.
So, here is my thought. Although it is rare we amend our Constitution, we do need this amendment.
"Any provisions passed by Congress that effects the ability of choice by the American people, the Congress and all individuals employed by the Federal government must also be bound."
In other words, you voted it, you live with it...just like the rest of us. **==

I think it's everything that's been happening, the healthcare bill is the straw that broke us. There's 'experts' saying that the recession is over. IF it's over it certainly isn't because of so-called stimulus as 10% of it didn't do squat. Will the 90% left still go out? No doubt. This admistration doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about the deficit. But it does seem it cares about who they owe for favors. If the 90% left actually was for helping create jobs, it wouldn't be so bad, but it's not. Cap and trade will stop any thought of new jobs in it's tracks, and will destroy many of us with all the added burden of price hikes on just about everything, but that won't stop them from doing it unless people do what they are doing about this health care bill. If our reps aren't scared of losing their jobs they'll sign anything. I salute our older citizens for caring about their children and grand children.

I'd change it just a bit...

Very well put - a good analysis of where we stand at the moment. It would be interesting to see Congress entertain such an ammendment! Sounds fair to me.

I do like this wording. It's slightly less wordy and, I think, clearer. Now where does it go from here?!!=D>

for me it,s about gov.intrusion in my life.
The ongoing healthcare debate is stirring up questions. Many can ask, is it really about healthcare? Brad Woodhouse, and his brother Dallas Woodhouse and Mike Allen speak with Erica Hill.

Well, at least they didn't say it's because the president is black. The problem is that it's been too much too fast and not enough information known about it, even by the people attempting to push it through - plus a lot of people want no government interference in their health care - and further, the great concern for costs, now and into the future.
This is a very personal issue for everyone and Obama has lost much respect and confidence from the American people simply because he has tried to shove it down our throats (before the August recess) without allowing for debate and input from the very people it affects. And then they call you everything in the book if you disagree. In other words, people were too stupid to understand to begin with, and then they're still too stupid if they disagree. It's no wonder that people are concerned about losing their rights and way of life.
The administration has brought this on themselves by their heavy-handed disrespect for the American people - the people they are elected to serve. And the members of Congress who bought into it so readily without a complete understanding of the bill are pathetic representatives of their people.

You make some excellent points, VH. How do you think the proposed amendment would change the lives of Congress, though? I think they are more apt to be removed from the attitudes of the general public because of their socio-economic status and job perks. They still live in the country, which means they do live with the decisions they make.

Many don't know, if congress pushes this shell of a bill through, that gives the senate and BHO all the power they need and whatever financing they want. Bernacke is going to be a busy bee with all that printing.
Our legislative branch and senate have the power. We tried to warn people what happens when one party is way over powered by the other. No one would listen. Everyone thought Bush was "evil" and voted to just get all of the repubs out. Now the republic has no defense.
Cap & Trade and Health care bills are both "shells" of legislation. If people thought the Porkulus bill had favors--wait.
Something just came to mind, you sure don't hear those Liberals and far left complaining about all that pork and lobbyist coming out of DC. Hell, even our fearless leader has employed them! Where the hell did they go? Who was for "Justice for all?" Everything they ranted about Bush is happening in DC and it's business as usual. Where are their mouths and protests. Code Pink... awww the war in Afphganistan s okay, uh? Wusses the whole lot. If it wasn't for bussing in SEIU and ACORN, they wouldn't be showing up at these townhall meetings! Where did all the protest go? They're probably waiting for BHO to pay their mortgages and fill up their gas tanks.
I think they're a lot like our government reps, wusses. As long as BHO says it's soooo good for "all the people" they're happy. I can't wait to hear the yelling from them when they get their next tax bill. They deserve it. Unfortunately, we don't.
trash it and start over,,
