The question is biased so the results of the survey are less than reliable.
40. Now thinking specifically about the health insurance plans available to most Americans, would you favor or oppose creating a public health insurance option administered by the federal government
that would compete with plans offered by private health insurance companies?
Aug. 28-31
2009
Favor 55%
Oppose 41%
No opinion 4%
Some people believe that the Obama plan would compete with private health insurance plans. Other people believe that the Obama plan would crowd out private insurance plans leaving only a government option. If all the Obama plan did was compete with other insurance plans, then it might be more acceptable to people than if it displaced private insurance.
The next question and answer set is especially telling.
43. Do you think Barack Obama does or does not want the federal government to eventually take over all aspects of the health care system in this country?
Aug. 28-31
2009
Does 53%
Does not 42%
No opinion 5%

Today CNN announced that "The CNN Poll will become the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll" -
Press release - CNN and Opinion Research Announce Formal Polling Partnership
PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Opinion Research Corporation, a leading provider of global market research and consulting services, today announced the establishment of a formal polling partnership with CNN, one of the world's most respected and trusted sources for news and information. The CNN Poll will become the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll.
"Opinion Research Corporation's reputation for independent, objective analysis and its excellent reputation in the industry make the firm the ideal polling partner for CNN," said Sam Feist, CNN's Political Director. "As the network gears up to offer the most in-depth and expansive coverage of the 2008 election, Opinion Research Corporation will be a key part of giving viewers the accurate and relevant information they demand to help them make decisions."

Based on the history of the people who recently acquired Opinion Research Corp., we believe that the true purpose of the CNN/Opinion Research partnership is to rig the poll results to benefit Hillary Clinton in her 2008 presidential campaign.
Opinion Research was purchased last year by InfoUSA. InfoUSA is controlled by a hard-core Clintonista named Vinod Gupta.
Gupta is a major Clinton/DNC donor and fundraiser, and Lincoln Bedroom guest. He has recently spent large sums to establish these Clinton-worship centers in India -
The Bill Clinton Science and Technology Center
Gochar Intermediate College, Rampur Maniharan
The Center was founded to help Scientists, Engineers and Doctors better perform their duties in a professional manner and be a part of the process of technological advancement. The campus covers more than 10 acres and is home to Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Agricultural Labs and a Computer Science Center. It is Vinod's desire that some of those who study at the WJCST Center gain admission to medical and engineering colleges

I guess they failed big time!!
If a majority still support the Public Option, it doesn't make sense to drop it.
