(Naughty Language)

I was quoted in a national newspaper yesterday on the subject of civility in internet discourse so I want to say this as delicately as possible. Rush Limbaugh is a 400-pound pile of loosely organized human shit. And the home-schooled, rapture-ready morons who lap up the effluent that flows from the open sewer that is his mouth like parched dogs are the best argument yet for compulsory sterilization of the chronically stupid.

In an incredibly racist diatribe about two black kids who beat up a white kid on a school bus, the Obese One casually remarked yesterday "This is what happens in Obama's America," as if teenagers had never behaved aggressively toward each other before the Black Guy became president. His clear implication was that now that Obama is president black people somehow feel empowered to suddenly start beating up white people. And, of course, in Limbaugh's lard-addled brain, a couple of white kids would NEVER do that to a black kid. The irony is that the sheriff who originally reported this incident as being potentially racist later retracted his statement. Turns out they were just a couple of school bus bullies who beat up anybody of any color who didn't ask their permission about where to sit.

So offensive was Limbaugh's rant that even Ron Dreher of the conservative beliefnet.com was compelled to call him on it in a post titled Rush Limbaugh hits racist bottom, digs. (http://blog.beliefnet.com/crunchycon/2009/09/rush-limbaugh-hits-racial-bott.html)

It is amusing to watch Limbaugh and the other rightwing noisemakers twist themselves into knots with the old well-they-did-it-to-Bush attempt at moral equivalence. The problem is that it is a lie. Come back and talk to me after you've provided one example of:

A protester showing up at a Bush rally carrying a gun

A liberal minister leading his flock in a prayer for Bush's death

A congressman calling Bush a liar while he was addressing the House

A poll from anywhere showing that one third of the liberals in a state thought
George Bush was the anti-christ

Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and the other loudmouths who have made millions of dollars by exploiting the deepest racial and economic fears of the evangelical crowd have come awfully close lately to screaming fire in a crowded theater. Do I want to censor them? Of course, not. Do I wish they were more responsible or more concerned about the evil demons they are empowering with their hate speech? Of course. Do I wish they would die a horrible death like Ted Kennedy? Nope.

But, here's my fantasy. I'd like to wake up some morning to the news that Rush Limbaugh has decided to take his millions from fleecing the rubes, an endless supply of Viagra and Oxycontin and moved to a private island in the Caribbean where he will live out his years sprawled on the sand like a beached Great White whale, rising only occasionally to have his elephantine loins and copious man-boobies oiled by little brown 12-year-old beach boys. Think about it, Rush. You owe it to yourself. You've done enough to your country already.

Agreed. Both of the above named, and Rush, are piles of s**t. Both sides have them, so to silence one, you'd have to silence all. No side gets a special, protected status on this.

genericstamp!

tired of the "he said/she said" nonsense when it comes to the pundits...they are what they are. Their side thinks they're golden, the other side thinks they're crap.

Bored with this nonsense. (:|

I am not sure this forum is helping the plight of America in this regard either! A lot of "seat time" results from participating frequently in this forum! Good thing I have been active at the gym these past 5 months!!

Rush Limbaugh's obesity is not the reason I despise him.

Rush Limbaugh's obesity is not the reason I despise him.

Then state the reason you despise him and leave the weight issue/prejudice out of it.

I wouldn't know where to begin. I'll just consider him a great person from now on.

The usual pack of right wing race-baiters spread false racist charges about the St. Louis bus beating. (http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/right-wingers-spreads-false-racist-char)

You can always count on Michelle Malkin and Drudge to lie about an issue to try and turn the heat off of her racist friends. I just hope some people don't get hurt because of it. She wrote a story and as usual jumped the gun to make her point: A teachable moment: Racial thuggery in St. Louis;Updated.

People like Malkin are scanning the headlines now for something that will turn the racist light off of the teabaggers, but she can't even get this story straight. Where have you seen that before?

anyone concerned with facts would know (through minimal research) that Limbaugh has lost over 90 pounds since spang...oops, spring.
others remain stuck on stoOpid, speaking of spreading false charges.

And yet, no one mentions that idiot former president Carter and the other political race-baiting politicians.

Degrade Rush and Beck, but totally ignore the other harmful jerks in our society.

I've never heard either one attack race--just those that do. Too bad the race baiters here on the forum can't get past this issue.

Rush Limbaugh makes fat people look skinny. That's something.

I dont think that is very nice. Besides it isn't even true. Rush looks really good, he has lost more than fifty pounds and is very trim.

Rush is not a racist, I'm not sure where that came from but it isn't true.

Rush Limbaugh is who he is and you can take him or leave him like Glenn Beck. They are commentators and if people choose to rally behind them, good. If not, that's also good. But calling names like "big fat race baiter" only diminishes the person saying or writing it.:-bd

I'm up with the guy saying people were going to be riding through the neighborhoods in white sheets again. I told you guys two or three weeks ago that this was coming.
Good people who disagree with Obama's policies are not racists. We still as of this minute have the right to agree or disagree with anyone without being called names like this. To call a white person a racist is like calling a black person the N word. There are black racists the same as white. There are Hispanic racists as well as black and white racists. Are there racists, yes, on all sides. The name calling has so diminished the meaning of the word, as I told you it would. I will and have disagreed with every President we have had since I was old enough to know what was going on, and I will continue to disagree as long as I live. Obama doesn't get a pass on bad policies because he is black. I am truly sorry, but I just don't care anymore, call me what you will.

Flip And Pop My Collar Like The Fonz

Andrew on Malkin and Limbaugh's dishonest white fear-mongering:

These people are going off the deep end entirely: open panic at a black president is morphing into the conscious fanning of racial polarization, via Gates or ACORN or Van Jones or a schoolbus in Saint Louis. What we're seeing is the Jeremiah Wright moment repeated and repeated. The far right is seizing any racial story to fan white fears of black power in order to destroy Obama. And the far right now controls the entire right.

Do they understand how irresponsible this is? How recklessly dangerous to a society's cohesion and calm? Or is that what they need and thrive on?

Yes. Yes. And yes.

I got a note from a good friend yesterday expressing shock, and anger, about Drudge and Malkin's usage of that alleged racial beat-down on a school-bus. On some level, I wonder if something's wrong with me. I'm neither shocked, nor angry. This is exactly how I expected these fools to respond to a black president.

If anything, I'm a little giddy. For black people, the clear benefit of Obama is that he is quietly exposing an ancient hatred that has simmered in this country for decades. Rightly or wrongly, a lot of us grew tired of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, mostly because they presented easy foils for Limbaugh-land. Moreover, again rightly or wrongly, they were used to define all of us.
It's intensely grating to live say, in Atlanta, and have some dude in Harlem crowned as your unelected leader. It's even more grating if said dude's agenda seems, in large measure, come down to standing in front of cameras and tweaking his opponents. It's no mistake that O'Reilly and Sharpton would break bread together at Sylvia's--they feed each other.

But Barack Obama, bourgeois in every way that bourgeois is right and just, will not dance. He tells kids to study--and they seethe. He accepts an apology for an immature act of rudeness--and they go hysterical. He takes his wife out for a date--and their veins bulge. His humanity, his ordinary blackness, is killing them. Dig the audio of his response to Kanye West--the way he says, "He's a jackass." He sounds like one of my brothers. And that's the point, because that's what he is. Barack Obama refuses to be their ******. And it's driving them crazy.

It's about time.
