I like Reaper--it's the only TV show I'm watching right now.
Last night. I popped in a DVD of Lois and Clark after getting home from an event of guess what! I miss this series--and was ticked ABC cancelled it on a cliff hanger. Lois reminds me a LOT of Hillary:D
My TV watching has crashed in recent weeks with all the election stuff. Only show I am watching now is re-runs of Senifeld - the humor helps ease the anger that I feel when I see any news coverage about this election!!!!

My guilty pleasures are "Judge Judy" and "People's Court". My gf records them for me on Friday so I'm not an everyday viewer, just a once-a-week viewer. Other than that, it's mostly stuff like "The Colbert Report", "L-Word", "It's Me Or The Dog" and....ummm, another guilty pleasure, "South Park".

Project Runaway, What not to wear, Desperates Housewives, Orange County H/W, NYC H/W, The new one, Millioners Club, I guess that is the name. Is an agency that helps millioners getting married. I watch basically all Bravo, HGTV, TLC shows, Discover, History. Ah!! I love Will & Grace.
Rafree just reminded me...I am a big fan of INTERVENTION on A&E! Interventionist Candy is a tough lady!
My TV interests tend to favor topics exploring social dysfunction!?
My favorite show is Nip/Tuck - season 5 just ended with a cliffhanger. I can't wait for season 6!

LOL, well, mine do too! I think that's the way my mind worked even as a child. Human behavior topics are my passion!!
I wish they would do more shows like this. Candy is wonderful!!

My fave is Ugly Betty. It is so quirky and yet so down to earth. One of the best written shows on television. America Ferraro is such a wonderful role model (like a certain presidential candidate she is supporting!) :)

Just kidding....don't get excited.
Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Lost person AKA Without a Trace, and CSI the original.

My shows are -
House but it is on hatius.
The 4400 - it was cancelled last October and I am still really angry about that because it was the best Sci-fi show that was on television
Jericho - because of my studies and this primary, I didn't get the time to watch it and last week, I found out it was cancelled.
Lost - I hated the fact that they killed Charlie and can't stand every episode being about Jack and his crap. I haven't watced any episode this season. I might watch after PA primary.
30 Rock - I haven't watched some of the new episodes since the strike ended but can't wait.
CSI Las Vegas - thank God Sara and Grissom aren't a couple. Need to watch all the new after strike episodes.
I used to be a television junkie but since my favourite shows are always getting cancelled, I have decided to not watch any new shows. The 4400 was the last straw for me.

Usually I watch very little TV -- sometimes go several weeks without turning the set on. Except during football season when Oregon Ducks games are broadcast or if there's a pro game of interest on a Sunday. Watch baseball if a NY Yankees game is broadcast on one of our cable channels. For news I generally prefer radio.
During this campaign season, though, my TV set has been on most evenings to catch the latest news -- information and misinformation included.

When my children are in control of the remote, I don't mind Spongebob or Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus is a cutie pie).
When I get to watch what I want it is usually:
Dancing with the Stars, followed by Samantha Who
Project Runway
I loved Heroes and Pushing Daisies.
I am completely hooked to Diagnosis Unknown. It totally grosses out my husband, but I am addicted to real medical shows. I even watch the plastic surgery shows (except operations of the face...gotta look away).
I was a 4400 fan, and before that was Star Trek:Next Generation and X-Files. Total engineering geek, I am.

I have missed most of American Idol due to watching Fox for hopes of hearing 'good' news and comments about Hillary.
Last night I was listening to her speech from KY on my PC and watching American Idol simultaneously.
American Idol was really good last night and I am proud I decided to watch it.
Both David's are so talented. David Cook is talented and so nice and David A.
is so young to be so talented and did a little bit better in his songs last night.
Either one, I will be happy.
I also watch HGTV.
I used to watch Boston Legal and Desparate House Wives.

#1 not-to-be-missed: Criminal Minds
Prison Break (although it's gotten kinda weird in the 3rd season)
House
CSI (but not New York or Miami...nothing against those cities but the TV shows that bear their names are poor copies of the original set in Las Vegas)
Grey's Anatomy
Ugly Betty (adorable! if you've never watched, I highly recommend it for a guilty-pleasure type fun hour)
#2 not-to-be-missed: The Office (OMG so funny!! Especially if you've ever worked in an office!!)

Used to LOVE House, but can't get FOX because of STUPID DIRECT TV..... so no MAD TV either!!! And Samantha Brown on The Travel Channel who has the best job on the planet- rating hotels and cruises all over the world!

Lets see. . .I have tons:
"South Park" is probably my favorite. I can't wait to see how they rip Obama. I also like "Whose Line is it Anyways". "Family Guy" used to be cool, but it seems to have lost its steam. I used to be a Vote for the Worst voter on "American Idol" and stopped watching after Sanjaya, who was the worst singer but the most interesting of the contestants, was booted off. I like "Project Runway", "Robot Chicken", and "Seinfeld".
Oh, and I have no shame in admitting that I was a "Pokemon" fan back when 4Kids dubbed it, mostly because of the characters Meowth, who is probably the most bad ass PUMA out there, and Mewtwo.

Big "Heroes" fan.
I also watch "Lost" (though right now, it's kinda... lost... Supposed to be back in January I believe).
I like "Big Bang Theory". It's silly, but I love the nerdy humor.
I watch Adult Swim almost every night.

Anyone watch “It’s Always Sunny it Philadelphia?” It is the most sophomoric un-pc show I have ever watched – I like it. I can't help myself.
I LOVE this show. It's absolutely unreal what they get away with putting on tv. "Un-pc" doesn't even begin to describe it. It's definitely not for the easily offended, or sometimes even for the not easily offended . I think one of my favorite episodes ever is from season 1 or 2 and is called "The Gang Finds A Dumpster Baby", although "The Gang Gets Invincible" is an instant classic as well.
One of my recent favorites is Glee. It's a show about a glee club, but the story line of the show is mostly secondary to the absolutely fantastic musical talent of the cast members. They've done covers of Journey, Heart, Carrie Underwood, Cabaret, Queen, Rihanna, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, etc.
The extended promo gives a great idea of the actual plot line of the show:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqRrd5wHYsk
And some of my favorite performances from the show (the songs are pre-recorded, but it's always the actual cast members doing the singing):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pwV6YBZzP4&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPgqyKMjSVg
Kristin Chenoweth guest starring as a ringer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u932Zd1HvIM
And some reviewer quotes:
Has there ever been a TV show more aptly named than Glee? It both embodies and inspires exactly that quality. Yet if I tell you the show is about a high school glee club and features bursting-into-song musical numbers, you might react as I did initially: I wanted no part of that. I'm not a musicals kinda guy. But this comedy from creator Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) is so good — so funny, so bulging with vibrant characters — that it blasts past any defenses you might put up against it. Glee will not stop until it wins you over utterly. - Entertainment Weekly
Even with its problems -- we'll get to those presently -- it's one of the best shows of the fall season. - LA Times
There have been few shows as rousing, promising, perplexing and potentially heartbreaking as this high school musical comedy from (among others) Nip/Tuck's Ryan Murphy. When Glee is at its singing, dancing, comic best (and it often is), the effect can be sheer bliss. - USA Today
...pitch-perfect comedy, which finds that elusive sweet spot between snark and heart..."Glee," which debuted to huzzahs in May after "American Idol's" finale, is entirely its own invention -- a fast-paced, wickedly funny nerd-revenge epic... - Washington Post
"...at its best, this is the freshest and most joyful new show of the year...when it succeeds, which is often, Glee is an exhilarating mashup of genres, combining highly arch satire with heart-on-its-sleeve musical dramedy." - TIME

Here's my list:
Brothers and Sisters
Dexter (just started, got into it from a friend)
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Big Love
Grey's Anatomy
Flash Forward
Private Practice
I'm not sure if this counts as a show, but the MLB Network had "The Pen" this past year and it was all about the Phillies bullpen. I watched every episode.
Hell yeah I watch True Blood. This season was the best yet!
I can't tell which vampire is hotter, Bill or Eric. I normally go for brunettes, but I've decided that Eric is way hotter.
Season Two (http://www.hbo.com/trueblood/season2/)
Eric... YESSSSSS! *dies* But everytime Bill says, "Sookkeeeehhhh" I giggle!
I haven't been watching anything consistently lately...
I rarely watch television. It's ironic that I'm working my way into the industry.
Perhaps have some "distance" from the medium is a good thing?

Yeah, it's crazy how he says her name. Almost like a neanderthal whose grunting.
And who would have thought that you could actually have an entire television season be about one long orgy?
It sounds totally preposterous, but they pulled it off.

What most people don't know about Glee though is how frickin' funny it is. I'm like literally laughing my *ss off during the whole thing. The lady who plays the Nazi gym teacher is hilarious. Her delivery is amazing.
The show is like funny the way 30 Rock was in its first season.
But it's not for the faint at heart. If you don't like it when fools just stop and out of the blue break into song, then you might not be able to hang.

Jane Lynch (gym teacher) has had some of the most hilarious lines lately! I'm still laughing about her one tonight:
"I am going to go to a shelter and get you a kitty cat. I will let you fall in love with that kitty cat. Then one cold, dark night I will steal away into your home and punch you in the face."
And I'm not gonna lie, the creepy kid with the fro who has a crush on Rachel, I about died laughing when he said "the independent polling company in my Dockers says that you're the hottest girl in school" to her.

Jane Lynch is a hoot and a staple of the Christopher Guest cast members of his films. Check her out in "Best of Show" and "A Mighty Wind"...she is hilarious.

I just discovered 30 Days the reality television show where in each episode some person or group of people, spend 30 days immersing themselves in a particular lifestyle with which they are unfamiliar.

Big-Bang Theory (excellent actors and writers)
Accidentally on Purpose (I think it has the best comedy writers on TV)
The Good Wife (love the characters, especially her assistant)
NCIS (DC not LA, although I do like Linda Hunt's character)
Bones
Criminal Minds
And I'm starting to warm up to "Cougar Town".

I feel completely confident in stating that Arrested Development was the best comedy to ever air on television. And in my opinion the best show in general. It's been years since it went off the air and I'm still consistently amazed at how complex, self-referential and brilliant it was. I've seen each season multiple times and I'm still catching new jokes that I never saw before.
As for the movie, as of August the script was reportedly half done, and all the characters seem to be on board with it (the only doubt I've heard is about Michael Cera, but I strongly doubt he'd hold up filming if everyone else was ready and the script was done - he owes his entire career to the show, after all).

Seriously...and what's he going to do, blow off the movie to do another movie where he plays yet another version of his George Michael persona? I'm sure he'll join eventually. These "oh, X might not do it!" things are usually just agents' bargaining ploys for more $$.

Has anyone watched ReGenesis? It is a Canadian production about NorBAC a Canadian lab similar to the CDC that is lead by a molecular biologist, that is egotistical, always thinks he is right, is short tempered, and is lacking in people skills , so naturally I identify with him. :) The other main characters are a geneticist, a virologist, a biochemist, and a bioinformatisist. If you are into those kind of things you might enjoy it. They have a scientific consultant, Aled Edwards a Canadian structural biologist, that keeps them from stretching the realm of possibility too far.
They like to bash the US and big corporations so some of the more progressive here might enjoy that. :)

Just finished watching season 1 of "Game of Thrones". I'm not really into the fantasy or medieval genres, but I loved this (it's from a series of books, of which 4 of the 7 have been published so far. I read the books before watching the show).
It's brutal - bloody, sexually deviant (incest is a somewhat important theme), vicious (there's little to no concern for who dies - children, main characters, women, animals - a lot of it serves a story-telling purpose, but no one is safe from death) and overall probably not something you'd ever want your children watching - but it's also fantastic.
Extremely well cast (Sean Bean, Lena Heady, Mark Addy, Peter Dinklage) and a great influx of up and coming actors and actresses. And HBO is HEAVILY invested in the production values. Season 1 (10 episodes) is rumored to have cost them $60 million, with $5-10 million being spent on JUST the pilot. It's visually stunning.
HBO's ambitious, visually stunning Game of Thrones puts that part in the songs. Like The Lord of the Rings, Thrones (which debuts April 17) is set in a quasi-medieval world with a mythic history, riven by conflict. But there are no singing elves, tubby halflings or noble wizards. There is a dwarf — crafty lordling Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) — but he frequents whorehouses, not Bilbo's hobbit hole. And there are hints of magic, mostly in the past, but Westeros is (or believes it is) a postmagical world. Where centuries ago there were dragons and sorcerers, now there are only steel and blood and the cheap grubbings of men.
As did HBO's western Deadwood and historical drama Rome, Thrones takes a familiar, oft-romanticized genre — epic fantasy — dirties it up and blurs the moral lines. Based on a millions-selling series of novels by George R.R. Martin (whom TIME's Lev Grossman called "the American Tolkien"), Thrones is unsentimental and often brutal. It's also shaping up to be the most immersive grownup adventure TV has produced since Lost.
SNIP
Watching Game of Thrones is like falling into a gorgeous, stained tapestry. This epic, unflinching fantasy noir takes our preconceptions of chivalry, nobility and magic and gets medieval on them.
Time Magazine Review (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2065251-3,00.html)
Hollywood Reporter:
It’s difficult to single out the most accomplished parts of Thrones. The ambition is immense, the fantasy world exceptionally well-conceived, the writing and acting elevating the entire series beyond contemporaries like The Borgias and Camelot, and the visual appeal continues to surprise with each episode.
Entertainment Weekly:
You may find yourself beginning Game of Thrones and getting lost in its thicket of who’s related to whom and remembering what grudge one clan holds against another, but I implore you: Stick with it. Free your eyes to take in the spectacle, and your brain will magically start following the intricate storytelling. And there’s a magical realism to Game of Thrones. A-

I will have to check it out. I read the first three book and really liked them. At first it was supposed to be a trilogy. Then he decided to split the third book into two books. Now it is up to seven.
It took him so long to write the fourth book that I gave up waiting and didn't realize that it was out. I hope it was worth the wait. I think I have probably forgotten all the characters and may have to start all over again.

Doctor Who (1963-1989, 1996, 2005-now) (both classic and new--favorites are Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, David Tennant and Matt Smith)
Angel: the Series (1999-2004)
Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) (my entrance into T.V. fandom)
Doctor Who - Over 47 Years - A Tribute in Three Parts
47 Years of Time and Space
Doctor Who: "Series 1-6" - Mega Marathon TV Trailer (HD)
Buffy: Season Two Trailer
Angel: Season Three Trailer
The Vampire Angel Trailer
A few others I've watched significant amounts of:
The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007-2011) (R.I.P. Nicholas Courtney & Elisabeth Sladen--Lis completed just 6 episodes for series 4 of this Doctor Who spin-off before she died earlier this year)
Roswell (1999-2002)
Heroes (2006-2010)
The Vampire Diaries (2009-now) (I quit watching, but intend to catch up)
Bones (2005-now) (as a Whedonite, I watched it for David Boreanaz--I quit watching when it went downhill)
Torchwood (2007-now) (hate a lot of it, but Owen's arc and Children of Earth were decent--I only watch the "adult" Doctor Who spin-off for completeness' sake)
Retro:
I Love Lucy/The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (1951-1960) (seen every episode)
I Dream of Jeannie (1965-1970)
Bewitched (1964-1972)
The Addams Family (1964-1966)
The Munsters (1964-1966)
Happy Days (1974-1984)
The Partridge Family (1970-1974)
The Wonder Years (1988-1993)
Star Trek: the Original Series (1966-1969) (I do mean to go finish up season 3)
Family Ties (1982-1989)
Political:
The O'Reilly Factor
Hannity
On the Record w/ Greta van Susteren
As a child/tween (along with a lot of those retro shows):
Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1991-1996)
Goosebumps (1995-1998)
So Weird (1999-2002)

I've been watching Game of Thrones and I'm clearly hooked because I keep tuning in, but honestly, I'm findng it hard to stomach. The focus on bloodletting and retribution, along with the rampant misogyny is a bit hard to take. Did I mention the gore?
Mostly I'm just waiting to see who's going to kill the little bastard who stole the crown from Stark. I do hope it's not painless. He's got some Karma coming and so does his mother.

I'll just let you know now, if the series follows the books it only gets worse. There's a particular scene in book 3 that I imagine followers of the TV show will have a hard time watching.

I've seen some of True Blood (actually, quite a lot of it), but it's never really clicked with me. It tries a little too hard to be "adult" (a bit like Torchwood, really--which also irritates the heck out of me when it tries too hard to be shocking, but just ends up seeming immature--it did recently get a massive quality upgrade--and yet, I still prefer sexagenarian '70s companion Sarah Jane's kid/teen show spin-off!), IMO. And there are a few characters (not good when they're leads) that irritate the heck out of me in True Blood.
I must admit that I have a thing for those old school teen/young adult WB genre shows (Buffy, Angel, Roswell, etc...--though Charmed is a horrid insult to genre shows and I've only seen an episode here and there of Smallville's early seasons--and give me The Vampire Diaries on the CW any day as Buffy's successor over True Blood and ::shudder:: Twilight, which is an insult to the entire vampire genre). Angel is an example of a spin-off I actually prefer to its parent show by a long shot (though I do have quite the soft spot for the high school years of Buffy).
And Doctor Who is certainly family viewing (not really a kid's show, but not adults-only, either). And in its current incarnation it owes as much to Joss Whedon as it does to the wonderful classic series (it's doing something right, because it's coming up on its 50th anniversary in 2013!). I've watched my way through a bit more than 3/4 of the classic series now. 108 episodes of the '60s era were junked/destroyed/burned by the BBC in the '70s, so some of those episodes only survive as audio, occasional clips (8mm fan footage and Australian-censored clips) and telesnaps. They've tracked down surviving episodes in places like Hong Kong, Singapore, Nigeria and Algeria (the Algerian ones would have only survived with Arabic dubbing if it hadn't been for several fans recording the audio from their T.V. sets). The last episode they found was in a church basement and the last full story they found (The Tomb of the Cybermen) was falling apart on 16mm in Hong Kong in 1992. It massively sucks, because the '60s era was one of the best (I'm a huge Troughton fan--my favorite companion is also Jamie from his era--and he bares the brunt of the junking policy with 67 episodes missing). But the BBC weren't allowed to show repeats due to unions (bloody unions!) and so they were burning them sometimes just weeks after airing (some of the early '70s episodes also only survive on B&W 16mm--they're trying to restore the color from U.S. fans' betamax tapes, chroma dots and sometimes colorization). The Daleks, the second-ever serial and the first with the show's iconic villains, was actually all taped up and ready to be burned the day it was saved and the whole junking policy was stopped. The BBC didn't have a clue what was in or not in its archive until 1978--and they realized they had literally destroyed most of the entire corporation's history (and Doctor Who didn't even suffer the worst of it). Like its lead character, the show regenerates (11 actors have played the Doctor) and reinvents itself, while still keeping the same mythology going.
I'm not really a huge fan of the HBO shows.
I will also watch the X-Files if I see it on, but it's not really a show I've watched all the way through. I used to not give Star Trek the time of day (mostly due to the technobabbly nature of Star Trek: The Next Generation--I'm also a much bigger original trilogy Warsie than I am a Trekkie), but the latest movie and the original '60s show softened me on it (I do like Spock and McCoy).
And if you haven't noticed... I'm a hardcore, diehard fantasy geek. Retro shows being my other passion, television-wise.
As far as political shows... Definitely quality over quantity. And I'm definitely a Fox News girl.

I still love the original Star Trek, although I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to watch it all again. I also admit to loving the Twilight series. The movies. I didn't read the books. I also loved Buffy and was quite the fan. I never got hooked by Angel, but I only saw a couple episodes.
I don't watch True Blood or any of the current vampire/paranormal series, although I do watch some of the alien/sci-fi stuff and there's a new one coming up starring Noah Wylie that has me intrigued enough to watch the pilot. Spielberg is producing it. I'm not a huge fan of Wylie or Spielberg. It's more the genre I'm interested in. And I may tune into True Blood out of curiosity. My husband did and said it was really over the top, but entertaining. He thought it was a spoof.

If you like alien shows, check out Doctor Who (it's one of the most popular shows on British television--really, its only British competition are soaps like Coronation Street and Eastenders--Doctor Who is also the BBC's biggest money-maker--and it's starting to find its way over to America now--though some might remember the Tom Baker years over here, which used to air on PBS in the '80s). The character is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels all of time and space in what appears to be a blue British police telephone box (a form it has been stuck in since 1963) called the TARDIS, which is "bigger on the inside". He's a self-described "mad man with a box". He travels with a series of companions that are usually contemporary humans, though are sometimes from the past or present and sometimes are aliens or tin dogs. Adventures are sometimes in Earth's past history, the far future, on different planets and occasionally in alternate universes. The show is mostly of a episodic or serial-like nature, though the show does have a continuing narrative that has increased over the years (most notably the Time War/last of the Time Lords arc).
They show reruns on BBC America, though I must warn you that they edit the heck out of them to cut down their running lengths (and it's really bad on the hour-long specials). 'Not-so-legal other means' is sadly the only way to check the series out if you want it uncut, but you don't want to buy yet. You can jump in on the show at pretty much any time, though the start of the revival (2005+ with Christopher Eccleston, soon followed by David Tennant during Russell T. Davies' run of the show) is probably the best spot (and you'll get introduced to the regeneration concept pretty quickly). Though you can also jump in at the start of the 2010 series with the new Doctor (Matt Smith)/new producer (Steven Moffat). The new series has very high production values, which the classic show didn't always have, and it's very modern. David Tennant really made the show mainstream, in particular.
Roswell is the other little old WB teen alien drama that I really recommend. It has a fair amount in common with Buffy and its ilk (you'll notice a lot of the same actors popping between both shows).
Angel started off being a bit monster-of-the-week (the same as BtVS was early on), but quickly grows into its own separate identity from BtVS (it's where the characters of Angel, Wesley, Cordelia and Darla went--Spike also joins the cast full-time for season 5--Faith's redemption arc is almost entirely on AtS, as well). AtS is often the darker, more mature show of the two and really eclipses the later seasons of BtVS (though there were actually quite a few crossovers that ran both ways, as they used to air right after the other on the WB prior to BtVS' cancellation and renewal by UPN for two more seasons).
Yeah, I wasn't really impressed with True Blood. "Spoof" is about right. It's hard to believe that it's taking itself seriously at times when it goes so over-the-top with the gore and sex. It just ends up being kind of comical. Twilight is pretty horrible and that goes for the movies as well as the books (I had the misfortune to see the first movie). If you're looking for a more interesting recent vampire movie, check out the Swedish film Let the Right One In (Låt den rätte komma in).

I watched Twilight for the romance, not the paranormal aspect, although that did make the romance more intense. That may be why I'm not drawn to all the other vampire fare, although I honestly can't say I've watched much of it.
I'll check out the videos and Dr. Who as well. Thanks! I remember watching an episode some time ago, but I jumped in midstream and was lost as to who was who (no pun intended!) and what was going on. I've heard a lot about Roswell. Where do I find it?
As for True Blood, I get over-the-top fatigue pretty quickly, so I doubt the show will wear well for me. I watched most of Game of Thrones and had trouble with it, not because it's OTT in the way of True Blood, but it is relentlessly dark and gory. The series has lots of hooks, though, and it's hard not to keep watching, despite how hard it is to stomach.

Gorgeous music and vocals in the Dr. Who Prom 2010 video! Are the regenerations done to introduce the new actors playing Dr. Who? It looked like a variation on death and rebirth. Very intriguing!
NileQT87

Indeed, regeneration is a death/rebirth concept. As has been said, there's been 11 actors to play the lead character. As it's been going on for 47 years, different generations of people have Doctors that are "their Doctor". The revival is really set up with the understanding that all these young people might not ever go watch the first 8 Doctors, but these recent ones will be "their Doctor" and they can get the condensed version of the show's history quite easily when needed (for example, when they brought back the likes of Sarah Jane, who was a companion of the 3rd and 4th Doctors back in the '70s--they basically said she used to travel with the Doctor and her story was as comparison to the then-current companion, Rose, and the great example of what happens when a companion is ultimately left behind, how it affects them and why). And if you're into romance, there was a huge 'shipper element to the Ten/Rose relationship. You might also notice that Tenth Doctor David Tennant was briefly in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Barty Crouch, Jr.).
Of course, it can't last forever, as the Doctor always has to go on. Some companions choose to leave the Doctor, some the Doctor chooses to leave, some are taken from him, some lose all memory of having ever traveled with him and some die (and all these scenarios have been part of the show's DNA from the beginning).
And yes, the new show has AMAZING music. So good that they have these huge orchestra shows every other year. That segment with This is Gallifrey/Vale Decem (the latter plays during the Tenth Doctor's regeneration) was the most amazing part of the Proms last year. And I always love seeing all the old Doctors (in many ways, they're the newest ones to me, because I'm still in the process of discovering all of them).
I'm very much in the Joss Whedon (BtVS/AtS) fandom, so they're actually the ones who turn me onto a lot of these shows.
Roswell is very much a teen romance drama with aliens that was on the WB/UPN from 1999 to 2002. As I said, it has a lot in common with BtVS. Basically, the gist is that there's a girl named Liz Parker who works in her family's kitschy, touristy Roswell Crashdown Café where there's an argument and a gun goes off--she gets shot--and a boy from school named Max Evans comes up to her and heals her. And then there's a whole plot with the sheriff trying to what happened in the café that day and the government coming in. And there's a group of 4 kids (originally 3) with mysterious powers--and they don't really know who or what they are either (a lot of the show is their journey of self-discovery). The show doesn't get talked about much anymore, but it was quite lovely. It's not in syndication, though. Ah! It looks like a lot of it has been put on YouTube! Otherwise, yeah, your other options are DVD and not-so-legal downloading.
I utterly cannot stand not-so-reality T.V. My mother loves it. I prefer my imaginative dream world. The more unreal the better, all the while exploring human nature in ways that only heightened stakes can. Fantasy is my favorite genre. Non-fantasy shows are actually a harder sell to me.

Yes, it's sitting here waiting for me to watch it. Though I notice it's getting mixed reviews (a lot of them regarding Americanization). I haven't spoilered myself for it much (though I'm a spoiler ***** for DW--I've been so bad with series 6).
Torchwood is an adult Doctor Who spin-off, F.Y.I. In case you were wondering how Jack became immortal and why he had (and was obsessed with) a severed hand in a jar all through series 1, it's because of his arc on Doctor Who where Rose was taken over by the Bad Wolf entity to save the Ninth Doctor and brought Jack back to life after he had been exterminated by a Dalek (but accidentally made it so he couldn't be killed ever)... And the hand belonged to the Tenth Doctor (lost in The Christmas Invasion soon after his regeneration) and was returned to him when Jack went running off after the TARDIS in the TW series 1 finale (followed up in DW's Utopia, leading into a 3-parter finale with Jack). And of course, the hand grew into the metacrisis Tenth Doctor when Donna came into contact with it. Martha was also on Torchwood for a few episodes in series 2 (they even talk about how she was made different because of her exposure to the TARDIS) and was another DW companion.
There are a few things in TW that might be better understood if you've seen DW since the relaunch.
Most of Captain Jack's backstory is really on DW, including the possibility that he ends up the Face of Boe after billions of years. Gwen and Ianto also make appearances in The Stolen Earth/Journey's End (the Doctor even comments on the fact that Gwen looks like Gwyneth from The Unquiet Dead, as Eve Myles played both characters). Tosh's first appearance was also in DW (Aliens of London/World War Three). The whole concept of Torchwood was established in series 2 of DW (established because of Ten and Rose with Queen Victoria in Tooth & Claw) and Jack takes it over after what happens in Army of Ghosts/Doomsday.
Here's a canned history of Jack from Utopia:

^ And I just watched the first episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day. I'm intrigued! Probably the most interesting thing is...
There's no spoiler tags on this forum, so look away if you don't want the big one...
While everyone else can't die, suddenly the man who shouldn't be able to die (Jack) is the one who can!
It's very much in the stylistic vein of Children of Earth (fast-paced thriller miniseries format), so that's a good sign. Notably lacking much in the way of aliens so far, outside of mentioning what the British Torchwood was all about. Liked the Recon pills making a comeback. Jack's immortality was kind of only mentioned rather than seen (though I suppose anyone who has seen him on DW or previous seasons of TW have seen him die about a hundred times--though how he became like that and why there are pictures of him dating back to WWII--that picture is a promo shot of him from DW's The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances--is left a bit unexplained to new viewers coming in, which might be confusing).
Lovely to see Jack, Gwen and Rhys back (the only other TW character I liked was Owen, so I'm glad to be rid of some of the dead weight). John Barrowman is starting to age a bit. And I wonder how Jack got from the Zaggit Zagoo bar on the planet Zog (yes, I'm that much of a nerd) in The End of Time, pt. 2 (where he got visited by the Tenth Doctor during his farewell tour to all his companions right before he regenerated) to suddenly back on Earth. I guess he got his vortex manipulator watch working again; though he'd be able to pop around to anywhere/anywhen in the universe if that was the case, so it's probably broken down again (or the Doctor disabled it again--the Doctor is typically the only one who can fix it). And just checking, he doesn't seem to be wearing it in Miracle Day. Maybe this was the stolen Time Agent's vortex manipulator sold to River Song in The Pandorica Opens? Hmm.
Joss Whedon fans might note that Mutant Enemy's Jane Espenson was one of the American writers brought in by Russell T Davies for Miracle Day (RTD is well on record as noting that Buffy, the Vampire Slayer was highly influential for his vision for 21st century Doctor Who--and Torchwood similarly had a lot of Angel: the Series--also another show's darker sibling--influences in it). It's a bit funny that Eliza Dushku (Faith/Echo) has even shown up in the Miracle Day web comic. And obviously, James Marsters (Spike) was in several episodes of Torchwood series 2. RTD is a big Joss fan.

My interest is waning fast. I am about 1/3 the way through the first season and doubt that I will watch much more. For me all the characters are paper thin. They can't seem to decide which genre they want to be in - science fiction, romance, comedy or fantasy... To me they are mostly comedy. Sort of a Dracula meets animal house.
The anti-Southern stereotypes don't both. I take it as making fun of those with those stereotypes.

Breaking Bad (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903747/) the best series that no one watched.
Personally I think that honor falls to Arrested Development. And Breaking Bad is still on TV for people to change their ways!

For those that haven't seen, remedy that.

I think this is probably the most intriguing of all the sci-fi shows because it has an air of realism that most do not catch. When I am watching this show, I'm thinking to myself, "I could believe this...."

I didn't care much for Primeval but judging from the first two episodes of Terra Nova, I think I might like it.
I am starting to like "Rescue Me." If you are easily offended by sex talk and racial jokes this show is probably not for you. I posted a threat in this forum titled "Sensitivity Training" that will give you a feeling for their brand of humor.
I am watching the first episode of season 4 and the main character just ask his teenage daughter if that was a hickey on her neck. I would have thought that teenagers these days were skipping that step.
p.s. It is also educational. I now know what a spank bank is.

You need to give NCIS LA another shot. It takes a while for characters to develop and for the dynamics of the characters to gel. This is actually becoming as good a show as NCIS.
I agree with you regarding Harry's Law. However, I have a lot of faith in Kathy Bates, and part of the decline is that they are adding too many new characters at once. Give it time to gel.
Person of Interest is, indeed, moving up on my list, too. This is a really interesting (and believable) concept.
Charlie's Angels is moving down on my list. It's becoming a little too formulaic for me.
The Mentalist is actually pretty good, but given some of the new shows, it's not a "top-tier" item.
Prime Suspect is gaining ground with me. I really like the concept, and the characters are starting to gel.
Fringe is getting good again. It sort of waned at the beginning of the season.
I'm looking forward to next week when Burn Notice and Covert Affairs gets going again. I believe that White Collar doesn't get going until January. Also, when does The Closer's new episodes start, anyone?
But the main item on TV next week for me (besides Burn Notice) will be the Alabama-LSU game. Geaux Tigers!

I haven’t watched The Mentalist but it appears to be Psych without the comedy.
For me, Fringe is fighting it out with Person of Interest for the top spot. As you said, it got off to a slow start this season, but now that Peter is back, I think it will regain its number one position.

I am very unhappy that The Closer is in its final season. If you have a DVR, you can record it during the day on TNT to catch up with previous episodes.
The X-Factor is fast becoming the biggest disappointment and most over-hyped show of the season. The productions are way overdone and the vocal talent is not nearly as good as that on American Idol or The Sing-Off.
Grimm is well worth watching. It's more interesting than Once Upon A Time to me, but maybe the second show will gel eventually.
Burn Notice is really good this season and remains my favorite show (Go, Fiona!).

It's basically an old, low-budget, gothic/supernatural soap opera (before its time!) with vampires, ghosts, witches, time travel, etc... It hit pay dirt when they introduced vampire Barnabas Collins and it went on to have two big screen original cast movies, a short-lived 1991 revival, a failed 2004 CW pilot (which contributed to getting Angel: the Series canceled) and now the 2012 movie.
My favorite character is definitely Willie Loomis (played by John Karlen) so far.

I know what you mean about the hiatus thing. It would be different if there were some good Christmas specials on -- you know, the kind we grew up with in the '50s, '60s and '70s? The Robert Shaw Chorale, the Robert Wagner Singers, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Jlie Andrews, Frank Sinatra...
Then it was the Osmonds...

Don't get too excited -- tonight is just a preview of this new Keifer Sutherland series, which will eventually debut in March, in the old "24" slot. Created by Tim Kring ("Heroes"), it stars everyone's favourite Christmas tree wrangler as a 9/11 widower with an autistic son, who just might be able to predict the future. Danny Glover co-stars as an expert on child math prodigies, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who was the best thing about "Undercovers" for the few minutes it lasted, plays a social worker.:)

I'm crazy for Downton Abbey!! I'm recording everything I can find of it, but missed the first season, which gets confusing. I watched one show where a character died and the next show he's getting married. Turns out the first show was Season 2 and the other, Season 1.
I'm also liking MTV's "I Just Want My Pants Back."

I watched "Touch" last week, too. I thought it was good. I love Kiefer Sutherland so I had to tune in.
I'm watching "Alcatraz" simply because it's JJ Abrams and it's good, not amazing so far, but I'm enjoying it. I try to see pretty much everything he does. Although, I gave up on Lost after a few seasons because it was just ticking me off how no questions got answered. And I think I was still a bit peeved on how my beloved "Alias" had ended.
But, speaking of Alias! My fave actor in the world (and my favorite Canadian), Victor Garber, guest starred on "The Firm" last night and I loved it. I don't watch the show normally. I mean, I spend all day at the law firm, why would I watch a show about it? LOL. But I tuned in for Victor and he was phenomonal as always. I've loved him since Titanic, 15 years ago, and I am still amazed at how gorgeous he still is, even at 63. His boyfriend is incredibly lucky. :D

My newest favorite show is Person of Interest (CBS), but I still love NCIS (CBS), NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) and The Good Wife (CBS). The rest of the list is Hawaii Five-O (CBS), Grimm (NBC), Revenge (ABC), The Closer (TNT - I'm so sad this is ending), Burn Notice (USA - on hiatus), Leverage (TNT), White Collar (USA), Covert Affairs (USA - on hiatus), In Plain Sight (USA - I think this starts back soon...), Love It or Leave It (HGTV), and House Hunters International (HGTV).
I watch Harry's Law (NBC), Suits (USA - on hiatus) and Fairly Legal (USA - on hiatus), but I'm not as enthused about them. I also have lost interest in Blue Bloods (CBS).
As far as reality TV is concerned, I love The Sing-Off (NBC - on hiatus), The Voice (NBC - about to return), and American Idol (FOX), but I did not enjoy Simon Cowell's new "X-Factor" at all -- lots of production, ver little talent (I did approve of who won, however). I liked Prime Suspect, but I haven't seen it come back. Did it get cancelled?
Boy, I watch WAY TOO MUCH TV.... and now I am a Words With Friends addict, too. I have 20 games going on all the time!

I really like Downton too--it took me by surprise, because I'm usually very lukewarm on period British shows. Do you have Netflix? The entire first season is streaming. That's how I caught up on it as the second season was starting.

Foxy, I can tell you that Downton Abbey is on PBS, but I'm still not sure what the schedule is and it will probably be different where you are. I just discovered it and taped everything that was showing. Here it's KCET, channel 28. I'll have to check out their web site for a listing.
Love that trailer! Gorgeous music.
CG, unfortunately, I don't have Netflix. I hoping the first season is available in a set. I'll catch up with everything that way. It's weird though, when you already know how some aspects are going to turn out.

Ah, thanks for the trailer. I've been hearing a lot about Downton Abbey due to the fact that I'm a Doctor Who fan, which means I pretty much hear about everything that is on British telly. It's been getting a ton of awards and huge ratings over there. My mother is a big fan of the stuffy British period dramas (I can't tell you how many times I've seen her watch Howards End and the like).
Doctor Who - 50th Anniversary Trailer
Other British shows that get a lot of press are Doctor Who (the 48-year-old sci-fi/fantasy staple), Sherlock (another show by Steven Moffat), Merlin (a bit too modernized and cheesy for my tastes--King Arthur), Little Britain (comedy), Being Human (the British version has now spawned an Americanized version on Syfy), Primeval (meh), Upstairs Downstairs (another period drama that is a continuation of a '70s version with some of the same cast such as Jean Marsh who had an Emmy nomination last year), The Catherine Tate Show (comedy--"Am I bovvered?"), The Friday Night Project (comedy--a bit off-color), Secret Diary of a Call Girl (w/ Billie Piper), etc...
Comic Relief - Catherine Tate & David Tennant
There's also a whole slew of soap operas that seem to get insane ratings like Coronation Street and EastEnders (also Emmerdale Farm/Emmerdale--which I'm aware of due to Frazer Hines). Corrie and EastEnders are most of Doctor Who's ratings competition on Christmas (they're really big on Christmas specials over there).
And then of course, there are the British versions of all the same reality shows we have and more (Strictly Come Dancing, X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, Dancing on Ice, Big Brother, The Weakest Link, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage musical casting shows, etc...).
And for pure longevity, I must mention the children's show, Blue Peter, which has been running since 1958 (puts Doctor Who's 1963 to shame!). The U.K. now has its own Law & Order: U.K., which has Freema Agyeman and Peter Davison in the cast (both are Who alumni--Pete was the Fifth Doctor and now the Tenth Doctor's father-in-law!)--they've been having little nods to that fact by having a lot of TARDIS blue. The BBC America ads are hilariously blatant about it.
Peter Davison Joins Law & Order: UK
BBC America, of course, is 90% Doctor Who, Gordon Ramsey (chef), Top Gear (car enthusiast show--it's funny and I hate cars), Graham Norton (comedy talk show host) and, strangely, American sci-fi shows (why are they showing Star Trek: TNG and The X-Files again? I mean, I realize that Patrick Stewart is British and Gillian Anderson grew up there, but...). They have shown Law & Order: U.K., the Andrew Lloyd Webber competitions, Being Human, Primeval, Merlin and Torchwood before.
PBS (a channel I'm a bit allergic to) also shows Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch has been getting tons of attention for that (even a bit over here). Syfy has run British shows before (and, of course, their Being Human remake).
Interesting thing to note about British telly is that seasons (called "series" over there) only run about 8 to 14 episodes a year and sometimes it can be several years (or decades) in between seasons! They are also known for doing a lot of limited-run mini-series (prominent/semi-recent examples include Casanova, Single Father, etc...).

I forgot to mention the new HBO series, Luck, with Dustin Hoffman and several other great actors. I didn't expect to like it at all. I'm not a big Hoffman fan or a horse racing buff and one of the reasons I don't like horse racing happened on screen. One of the horses broke its leg and had to be put down, right there on the track. It could have been a PSA against horse racing and I wonder if the makers of Luck intended that.
Still, I loved the premiere. I didn't understand the horse racing/betting lingo, but something gripped me and I will watch again. It's very intense and they do a beautiful job with the characters and the lifestyle of those who are clearly addicted to it.

I like Keifer's new series Touch. it is on Wed nite.:D
I thought the trailer looked interesting. The pilot was too schmaltzy for me. I will probably give it another look.
