View Full Version : (Dec 20, 2009): "Communists living the American Dream" (Video, RT)
Amid the raging financial crisis, many in the US are left doubting the wisdom behind the American way of life. And in one enclave in the US state of Virginia, an increasing number of people are dropping the dollar and picking up a hammer and a sickle. RTs Priya Sridhar reports from a commune that is adopting a revolutionary way of life.

Hmmmm. Making and selling furniture and hammocks to support yourselves. Sounds pretty capitalist to me. I like the system of getting rid of people who don't work hard enough. If you try to force this system nation-wide, where do those people go? The answer is nowhere. These people are living on a piece of private property that they control. That's the essence of a capitalist free-market and libertarian society.
In a real communist world, they would not have the authority to decide who lives there or not. Places like this would fast fill up with deadbeats and people who hate each other who have been 'assigned' to live there. The productivity and happiness the guy in the video is prattling on about would evaporate, as it always does in communist societies.

Ding, ding, ding.
I would add that they might not be able to keep the bulk of their "profits" (or whatever communists call them) or even choose what the goods they make or services they perform.
