Clinton/Obama will debate at University of Texas on Feb 21, 2008, televised live on CNN. See article below:

I hope Hillary is willing to take a risk this time and focus on the hollowness and emptiness of Obama's message and presidential platform. The stakes are such that I think there is no place for the kind of pandering that both engaged in during the last live debate before Super Tuesday. It's time to get TOUGH and in a MAJOR way.

This is a more inspiring account of Clinton's Texas rally Feb 12. She was right not to congratulate BO during her rally - he's already getting enough airplay thanks to his male buddies in the media who don't want a woman in power. Anyway, back to Texas. I think Hillary just has to forget the Feb results and completely focus on Texas and Ohio. She must remain positive, focussed and determined - if ever there was a person who knows how to "fight back", it's Hillary Clinton. The game is no over BO!

Does anyone know if Hillary will rally in Dallas, TX (or anywhere in the North Texas area for that matter?) So far I've only seen events listed in South Texas. I really want to see her in person and show my support!

Haven't heard about Dallas yet but I am sure at some point in the next 2 weeks she will rally there. She said she is going all across Texas - after all, this is make-or-break - she won't leave Dallas out I am sure.

Maybe some of you in the Metroplex area would be interested in attending this:
We will be sharing our thoughts on the campaign and coming up with ideas on how to promote our candidate. Perhaps, those in our community will develop a team of supporters to go door to door and educate our cities on WHY to vote Hillary! We will also share insight with those undecided and educate ourselves further on our political situation. PLEASE bring friends! The more that can attend the better! Please RSVP by going to:

I like the way she has a rock concert of her own. It's good to see a shake up in the campaign. I hope she's getting more aggressive and go after Barry soon. (i refuse to call him Barack. He went with the name Barry for the most part of his life.)

I sure hope she makes it here. Dallas has a huge liberal community and I think that she can get a lot of support here (even though it is in Texas...I like to think of it as a liberal oasis).
Hope you can make it pennylane! I would love to have been able to attend a Hillary rally. I get fired up just watching her on TV, especially when she starts talking tough!

I just found out this morning that Chelsea Clinton will be visiting my college campus today! I can't wait!
Hopefully Hillary will come to Dallas soon...because OB is here and he is having a HUGE rally downtown today. I saw on the news this morning that there have been people camping outside of the arena all night. Blech!

On MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/hillaryclinton2008) I found this very constructive analysis of the Texas primary which will happen in 10 days. I think it makes some excellent points. Reproduced below in full:
Author: Tracy (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=333313165)
I live outside of Austin, and after the debate last night you can imagine the phone lines were burning up on talk radio here this morning. Many women were actually saying they liked Obama because of HOW HE SPOKE. So I called in, and they put me on. I pointed out that he was really just parrotting most of what Hillary was saying, to which they responded that both candidates had the same views on many issues. I said I felt SHE had the views, and he was basically saying what she did. I said a few weeks ago I might have supported him if he got the nomination and she didn't, but the more I see of him, the more I see that I don't like.
I have only once before voted in a primary, and that was for McCain (I can't stand Bush), and he would be, at this point, my second choice. Sorry if that offends anyone, but there you have it. People in Texas are not going to vote for Obama in the general election, even if he wins the primary -- get that through your head. Many Republicans are even voting for Obama in the primary because they know McCain has a lock and they feel Hillary will be a much bigger threat in the general election -- that is why she is not doing as well here as expected.
You can disagree with me, but I live here, I live in a completely Republican county (not a single elected Dem), and these are things I have heard for a fact. I am not stupid; I am educated, I follow the election, and I know what I'm talking about. Sure, Obama has his supporters here, I won't deny that. But when it comes to the general election, the Republicans see Hillary as the threat so they are willing to sabotage her. I am dead serious. I am an Independent, but I have already voted for Hillary.
I hope people see beyond the facade of Obama and do the same. He will still be around in 8 years, hopefully with more experience (and a new wife, one who is proud to be American, not just when it is convenient), so quit falling under that spell. -----

Murray, thanks for sharing this. For those that want to cut and paste it into emails, bulletins, or other ways, here is the article for you to read and distribute to all of your friends in Texas!
This is taken from "The Daily Texan" which is the newspaper for the University of Texas at Austin.
http://www.dailytexanonline.com/home/index.cfm?event=displayArticle&ustory_id=8fd2d256-8e07-4410-ada4-472b700786d6&page=2
As voters, we're often torn between our hearts and our minds when making crucial decisions concerning the welfare of the country. This endorsement is no different.
In the past year, we have been entranced by the powerful timbre of Barack Obama's voice. We have felt our hearts soar with each progressive idea he has put forth, especially his call for youth action and enrollment in public service programs. But we do not think he is the wisest choice for president. George W. Bush has made a mess of America, and we believe Hillary Clinton is the best person to clean it up. She is prepared and willing to be a leader who is "a lot less hat and a lot more cattle," as she stated during Thursday night's debate.
Clinton is a seasoned politician, and some argue that works against her. But Bush has been wildly successful in destroying every positive function of the machine that is Washington, D.C., and Clinton has the political tools and knowledge to fix it.
We have admired the consistent integrity of Obama's campaign. He is everything a politician shouldn't be, meaning that we think he is a good human being. To truly be a leader we can look up to, Clinton should learn from her refined opponent's style.
But during Thursday's debate, Obama made a major gaffe in incorrectly stating that he had received endorsements from every major newspaper in Texas. We may not be considered a "major" paper to many, but we represent a crucial constituency of close to 50,000 young and enthusiastic voters, and we've been scrutinizing every move of the candidates leading up to today's endorsement. Sure, Obama took many under his spell when he graced our city with his presence early in his campaign, but we think he prematurely considered his work in Austin done.
We've taken into account our communication with each campaign as an indication of how each candidate's government would function. Upon finding out the debate would not be open to students, Obama's campaign told us there was nothing they could do to get more students into the debate, whereas the Clinton camp was sympathetic in offering assistance. This makes us wonder how far Obama would go for us as president.
The youth vote, especially here in Texas, is extremely important to both candidates. As Texas, Austin and UT have all entered the limelight as major players in the nomination process, we have been confused by Obama's relative absence from the home of such an important, excited and loyal constituency.
Clinton, while not as dazzling as her opponent, has asserted her presence to us. She has pledged to restore government support to college students by increasing the availability of Stafford Loans and Pell Grants. Her outline for a universal health care system is thorough and sound, while Obama unfairly exploits the resounding term "universal" in terms of his plan, which is voluntary and wouldn't actually serve America in its entirety (like Social Security, policy can only be universal if it is mandatory). Furthermore, Clinton's plans for Iraq ensure a gradual transition to stability for the Middle East.
Clinton's abrasiveness, while somewhat off-putting, is essential in scrubbing our country clean of the grime the current administration has let build up. And by promising that the clean-up will begin in full effect on day one of her presidency, she's proved to us over and over again that she's ready, even excited, to get her hands dirty. Meanwhile, Obama's curent focus is geared toward winning the nomination, and we need more than hope and rhetoric to be reassured that the critical transition to come with the next presidency will be handled safely.
We live each day in anticipation of Democratic leadership for this country. But considering the current state of America, now is not the time for radical change.
We'd like to see Obama and Clinton work together in achieving the many goals they share. Obama has our confident vote in four (or eight) years' time. But for now, we can't risk trusting the judgment of our hearts. Logically, Hillary Clinton should be the next president of the United States. Under her leadership, we can return to being the great country we once were.

I will be going alone (the majority of my friends support BO unfortunately and everyone else who doesn't is working or has class), I'll admit I am a little nervous since I don't know what to expect, but I am excited at the same time! I live here in Texas and the Hillary supporters have never been polled.
I feel good about her winning here in Texas and we are working day and night.
The National Staffers have done a great job for the short time they had here.
90%+ of the Hillary voters already stated that if Barack Full of Crap Obama does pull ahead of her after Tuesday then we will not under any circumstances vote for him in November.
He will be a disaster for the Democratic party if elected and we will end of having a Republican Congress. Then, he would be defeated the next time around and we will be stuck with another Republican President and a Republican Congress for a long time.
I am hearing from other Hillary voters that they are going to do the same thing.
A true Hillary party puts his or her country 1st not the party.
Howard Dean has proven to me that he needs to be fired and does not represent Hillary Clinton and I think he is one of the organizers behind the scenes helping Barack avoid media scrutiny. Howard Dean is a far left Democrat and the far left do not respect the Clintons.
So, if Hillary is not in there I see either John McCain or Ralph Nader or an independent elected.
My 1st thought is that Hillary will barely win Texas, win Ohio by 7 points, win Rhode Island and lose Vermont.
Thank you.
Cindy

Cindy,
It does seem as though Hillary's base will not support Obama if he's the nominee in November. But, here's hoping that she will be the nominee and that Texas will be in her corner on Tuesday!
Thank you for all that you're doing down there to help out Hillary. It's definitely appreciated! I wish I could be there to help and get the votes out for Hillary. Keep hard at work and I'll send warm thoughts your way in the process.

I heard a report last night, maybe on AC360, that whoever took East Texas would stand a good chance of winning Texas on Tuesday. Areas I remember hearing were Nacogdoches and Laredo. However, Laredo doesn't look like East Texas, but I remember the name being mentioned.
Any word on some of these areas?

After reading a posting of the voting habits of BO - I was appalled at how many times the man has NV'd. I mean, being a senator is a tough job, but m'dear it is a much tougher job being president. So if he votes at like a 50% rate on issues he is really supposedly concerned over - ie. health, poverty, welfare...then how can I trust what he is saying. Actions speak louder than words, but alas, I can find no action from BO to base my opinion of him. As of this point, he is not a choice. God forbid that Hillary should not take Texas and Ohio, and even worse that BO is the candidate...I guess I will just follow BO's lead and NV for the presidential race. Please people, wake up and smell the roses. He's a drug user, liar, and thief all rolled into one, and if that is what we need in Washington, I'll stick with what we already have! Work hard fellow Clintonites, work hard...our very future depends on it!
Work hard fellow Clintonites, work hard...our very future depends on it!
My sentiments exactly! We must do all that we can to prevent this disaster becoming our future reality! This political fiasco and hoax must come to end! And it can through our continued campaigning efforts, however big or small, and our commitment to stating the truth as we see it and not being silenced by intimidation and public pressure.

All I can say is people in Texas need to make sure that when they caucus that they bring everyone they know with them. Seriously, ask your neighbors, if they need a ride take them. More bodies in the caucus means she has a better shot at the 1/3 of the delegates the caucus allocates.

Exactly. It's a numbers game. Personally I think the caucus system is completey RIDICULOUS!

It's like that here and I think it's way more confusing then it needs to be.
It's like that here and I think it's way more confusing then it needs to be.
I think all states should just have a straight primary with anonymous voting, with only registered party members eligible to vote. That's the most fair and simple way to do it.
I received this on email in relation to educating Texas voters about the need to vote twice - please circulate accordingly!
CAMPAIGN MESSAGE
Easy way to help Get Out The Vote in Texas
Mar 1, 2008 1:28 PM
The GOTV Weekend phone call effort in Texas is going strong. Yesterday was a great day for Activate callers. From their homes, callers talked to more than 20,000 voters for the second day in a row! Over the past week, you have done an AMAZING job of identifying our supporters and educating them on the voting process in Texas. Now, we need to make sure that these folks get out and vote TWICE.
Texas is neck-and-neck. The winning campaign will be the one that does the best job of turning out supporters. In educating and exciting our base, these calls are generating votes for Hillary, and there's never been a time when she needs your help more than right now.
Thank you for all that you are doing. Our best callers have made a big impact in this election thus far. Let s keep fighting and help win Texas for Hillary!

Does anyone know if we have poll watchers assigned to polls here in Texas. I've been hearing disturbing things from some Obama people that they are going to do some "shady" things. So, do we have people at the polls to make sure that things got the way they are supposed to go?

I agree, this is very important. I too have heard rumors! I sure hope there are monitors at both the primaries and the caucuses.

Why does the media keep saying Hillary might win one of the big primaries tomorrow? I think she's going to win Texas!!!
See below for average of all Texas polls - it's dead even:

I read somewhere else that nearly 60% of people have already voted in the last 2 weeks. I don't know whether that harms of helps Hillary. I know in recent days momentum has been shifting in her direction.

they will pull anything from their magic hat.
i got a hold of an email from one of Obama preceint caption. he sent out a strategy to his fellow caption what to do at caucus. I already forward that email to clinton campaign.
for example, it's illegal in TX to have any campaign material in the surrounding area of the precint. so they can't not use the same strategy as they did in Washington where they posted Obama banner and gave away sticker and button to voters at the door of the precint.
So the email instructed the Obama supporter to wear their Obama t-shirt inside out or wear the jacket over it. And they will show it when they go inside the precint. they gonna make a stunt flip the t-shirt and make noise for Obama.

I voted this morning for Hillary...but was highly offended when I came out of voting. First of all, the polling place is a school - and the school children were standing just outside the doors (they weren't allowed in the school yet) and were chanting "Obama...Obama" They were within the area designated as no campaigning zone...and when I complained to a person inside, they basically gave me this look, of "so?"...Geez...
When I came out of voting, there was an Obama supporter standing outside the no campaign zone...and instead of coming up to me and another woman, she went right past us to an african american woman to ask if she was coming back to the caucus tonight...Uhh...racist much? Zip right past two white women to ask the african american woman? But the kicker was - the african american woman said yep, coming back to caucus for HILLARY...it was....HILLARYOUS!!!
All I can say, is please people, if you are voting in Texas, and notice any "irregularities" please notify someone!
Keep your eyes open, and don't forget to caucus tonight!

Great news! And thanks for voting!!!!

I thought the two Senior Citizens were incredible and particularly the last one who spoke and is voting for Hillary not because she's a woman, but because she is the one who can "bring us back up the Mountain, shining like gold." No better words have been spoken.

I went into my local Saladworks last week after work and I wear my Hillary pin on my leather jacket. An African American woman who worked there looked at me and said "All right, Hillary. I'm voting for her" We chatted for a few minutes and she really knew her stuff. When it came turn for me to pay, she said "How about you, Miss Hillary?" LOL. I was impressed, especially for a black woman to be so excited about Hillary.

Everywhere I'm turning
Nothing seems complete
I stand up and I'm searching
For the better part of me
I hang my head from sorrow
Slave to humanity
I wear it on my shoulders
Gotta find the strength in me
Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman
For all the mothers fighting
For better days to come
And all my women, all my women sitting here trying
To come home before the sun
And all my sisters
Coming together
Say yes I will
Yes I can
Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman
When I'm breaking down
And I can't be found
And I start to get weak
Cause no one knows
Me underneath these clothes
But I can fly
We can fly, Oooohh
Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman
