That's the point... you are economically cutting your own throat if you limit who you'll sell to. However, most people still believe in that commonly seen sign: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone".

You weren't alive BEFORE the 1964 Civil Rights Act, were you?
Did you know that businesses, especially businesses right here in Raleigh, really did refuse to serve blacks?
No, I'm not kidding. I don't know if they were "cutting their own throats," but they really did that.
In fact, in 1964, if I owned the same retail business I own today, and I DID sell to blacks, I'd be risking my life and the lives of my wife and children. I might easily be murdered for being a "nˇgger lover".
In 1970, not 15 miles from where I'm sitting now, a black man was brutally murdered for "saying something to a white woman".
So please don't tell me the 1964 Act wasn't necessary, TYVM.
