I check the phone bank today. And the system said there was no call in the queue.
Apparently, it means enough people are calling so that they're caught up. they don't have any names of people who weren't called already.
It's really a great sign. I hope the campaign will allocate other states for volunteer to call soon.

If you know people who want to volunteer here are the offices. I just
sent and paid for a friend of mine to go till Wed through election
day (and I am living paycheck by paycheck). Remember Wisconsin is
next to Illinois. Obama is supposed to win here but we can change the
momentum and the news so much by calling Wisconsin voters. Go there
if you can and call if you can't

If she wins in Wisconsin it will be a MASSIVE victory given how biased the media has been recently, misleading the voting public with distorted and biased reporting. Even if she loses only marginally that will be a victory! She's a fighter! And her supporters are campaigning like crazy online, on the telephones and in person.

I'm hoping more folks will pick up on the name addition of "4 Wisconsin" in the next few hours. I think it helps in morale and shows our solidarity in this campaign. :)
Unfortunately, I have to go to a funeral today and then a Democratic meeting tonight so I won't be online.

The last poll had her slightly ahead in Wisconsin but it's really to close to all at this stage. Hillary's team have downplayed her chances here. But a win would be SUPERB!!!

You are helping - through phone calls, signing/distributing the MI/FL petions and positive contributions to this forum! Every little action makes a difference when multiplied by millions of people!
I am going to a fundraising event on Wednesday morning in NY - Hillary will be speaking! This will be my first opportunity to see/hear her in person! I purchased the ticket today.
Latest poll has Obama at 52% and Clinton at 42%. Discouraging! Do people have no idea? Bewildered...
I read somewhere (?) that Obama had spent something like $800,000+ on TV ads in Wisconsin in the past week to Clinton's $180,000. That's one way to get more votes - MONEY. And would most likely account for the increase in his polling figures over the past week.

I don't know...but I'm starting to get a pretty good feeling for Wisconsin. The polls may be close...but the polls also had Obama winning New Hampshire.
So, I will repeat...I'm feeling pretty good about Wisconsin.

Good. I will adopt your optimism :)
Anyway, the Clinton campaign has tried to downplay her prospects in Wisconsin so a loss would not be a loss from their perspective. But a win would be a major, major victory in the present pro-obama climate fostered by the media.

Thanks for the encouragment, Murray. I lost my job last April and I've spent the past almost year now putting my life back in order. I was working in the real estate market and well we know how awful it's been. Hillary's helped my spirits tremendously since the end of last year, having hope and optimism that things will get better. I was out of work for 6 months, collected unemployment and now I'm temping for practically nothing, but it's a job. I don't have a spouse or family to support which is good, but it's been hard. And I've had no health insurance, which is why Hillary's healthcare plan is so important to me. It would allow people who lose or change jobs not to lose their insurance. Now that won't help me but I don't want to see other people go through that.
Anyway, that was kind of off topic, sorry.
I thought the poll last night I saw on MSNBC had Hillary leading, how'd it change so quickly? I'm feeling good about Wisconsin too. If she can do well today, it'll at least prove that money won't buy votes.
Have a great time at the Hillary event! I'm so jealous!! I've never met her, but I have met her husband.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like it's been a tough time but you are coming through!
Not having health insurance would scare me. And I can see why Hillary values universal coverage so dearly.
Fingers crossed for Wisconsin and I will be sure to report back on my Hillary event tomorrow!

NOOOOOOO! CNN just projected OB as the winner. I was so sure Hillary had it in the bag in Wisconsin. What went wrong?:(
johnny51981
02-19-2008, 10:32 PM
I've never understood how they can call it so soon. Hopefully it will either be wrong, or the majority of the delegates go to Hillary....which can happen.
It's so depressing. What is wrong with people? The obstacles for Hillary seem so huge.
pennylane8510
02-19-2008, 10:34 PM
I don't understand how they project the winner either. They always call it before all the votes come in.
The people in Wisconsin must be drinking the OB kool-aid. Say no to the kool-aid!

Is anyone watching BO's speech in Texas? What a joke. He said "y'all" He's making sure everybody's voting, has yet to mention one single issue.
I thought Hillary would upset in WI. I guess the media is getting to everyone.
I hope he knows this is the last primary he'll win (well maybe HI).
I stopped watching the TV. It's too sickening!! They slam Hillary and idolize Obama. The media has basically corrupted the voting public through its bias. Add in the shady tactics of Obama's own campaign, structural sexism, and an increased youth vote and it's then easy to see why Hillary's challenge is a monumenta one.
johnny51981

I know this isn't directly related to Wisconsin....but is anyone seeing that this is oddly reflecting the end of season 6 of The West Wing?
Brooke
02-19-2008, 10:56 PM
Well either way, I won't be voting for Obama. Ever. Even if that means not voting in this election. I'm so angry right now. Every primary he wins, I pray for this country. I know we can't get much worse than our current President but Obama will be close.
"Yes We Can!"
NO YOU CAN'T!!! AND YOU WON'T!!!
I don't drink the Kool Aid. Never have. Never will.
Obama wouldn't win against McCain so I don't think you need to fear that. The real loss is if Hillary Clinton is not given the opportunity to lead this country. That is such a sad prospect. At this stage, with the media's support, Obama has been able to hijack the public's consiousness and it will be difficult for Hillary to counteract that. Glamor and glitz wins in this case.
CNN has an article (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/19/exit-polls-obama-holds-onto-his-base-makes-inroads-in-clintons/#comment-567389) on their website discussing Obama's win and as you can imagine the majority of comments are from Obama's supporters. Most comments were so bad I felt I had to write something - which no doubt CNN won't approve as it deletes half the comments submitted...Here it is:
For a candidate who apparently inspires in people a wish to change and move forward in a new direction, I am remarkably disturbed by the venom and nastiness of Obama's supporter's - as evidenced on this page. If Obama is the idealist and change-agent he proclaims himself to be, I am sure he would be ashamed of your behavior on this comments' page and your vile character assasinations of a woman who has given 35 years of her existence to help the very people who are so quick to abuse her. Arrogance in victory is highly unattractive and unbecoming. Show some respect to both your own candidate AND his opponnent by engaging in fair and reasonable discussion.
Brooke
02-19-2008, 11:11 PM
Murray, that was a fantastic post. I stopped reading CNN.com and watching CNN early last month when I realized how biased it was towards Obama. Now it's impossible to turn on the TV at all.
What is disgusting to me is everyone's saying "Well after March 4th, we'll have to make a decision to wrap up the nomination" Jonathan Alter said this yesterday. Oh sure, okay, I am sure the voters here in PA will be happy to hear that, not being able to have OUR voices heard, EVERYONE else has.
And I agree about Hillary not being given the chance, it's very sad. I don't know if you read my post in the "Battle Tested" thread but I wrote about my passion for the Middle East peace process. And what's sad to me is that Bill won't get another chance to work for peace over there and a Hillary win would make that a sure thing.
I'm keeping the faith, it's hard but we have to, for Hillary and for this country.
SwiftFox

Murray,
I think your post at CNN was excellent and reflects my own thoughts.
The real loss is if Hillary Clinton is not given the opportunity to lead this country. That is such a sad prospect.
Again, my thoughts exactly. Honestly, should Obama win the nomination, I don't believe that I, in good conscience, could vote for him, given the way he has run his campaign and given that I have no confidence in his ability to accomplish positive things for our country. If Obama is the Democratic nominee, I fear McCain will win in November.
I really feel empathy for Hillary Clinton. I feel that she has been cheated by society. Both men and women. There indeed remains a "glass-ceiling" in this country and despite what people may say, I don't think enough people in society are willing to allow a woman to have the power of the presidency. Sexism can be both sublte and blatant - in this election Clinton has had to contend with both forms. A sexist male-dominated media has so obviously conspired against her efforts to win this nomination. The likes of CNN and such have shown a sickening level of joy in promoting and furthering the cause of BO, to the explicit detriment of Hillary Clinton. Once again, male privilege has allowed a less qualified candidate to sail through a job selection process without being subjected to the same standards. Seems in this country, at least in political elections, that pseudo-charisma and smooth-talking mantra, are what engages the masses. Without male privilege, without the support of a sexist media, and without Obama's disturbing ability to "charm" the masses with fairytales, the odds are stacked against her! Realism is not valued it seems when it's coming from a woman.
Obama outspent Hillary 4:1 in TV Ads in Wisconsin. This played a big role in the loss there. Not sure why the Clinton campaign did not invest more money in Wisconsin. Maybe they thought it was not wise use of their funds? Not sure. But it hurt!
johnny51981
02-21-2008, 03:58 AM
Well, with a somewhat optimistic way of thinking...the Clinton Campaign did plan on losing Wisconsin anyway. I don't know why he felt the need to spend so much there, since he was already ahead in the polls...
